View Full Version : Earth 600 BC
Lokolus Jan 25, 2008, 06:47 AM Earth 600 BC!
This is the Era of small nations, minor cultures that effect only their small area, but there are exceptions... The Persian, Roman and Macedonian Empires are rising while the older Carthaginian and Babylonian Empires are expanding, citystates are built in the Americas, The Greeks are colonizing the Mediterranean and the Black Seas the Judean Kingdom is making it's last stand, can you transform you're small nation into a strong Empire?

There are no religions in this scenario because of balancing issues.
I hope you enjoy! :)
JEELEN Jan 25, 2008, 07:11 AM Thought you weren't making a 600 BC scenario?! Will have to check this out.;) )
Welshdragon Jan 25, 2008, 08:42 AM Good idea! Roman Invasion on a World Map, not just Europe!
JEELEN Jan 25, 2008, 08:47 AM Just had a look at it: interesting variation on a theme, I must say. Have to agree with Welshdragon: the Romans don't really face serious opposition it seems - nor do the Chinese. Israel seems way overpowered, especially compared to the Persians. All in all I'd have to say: pretty neat (though a few barbarians wouldn't hurt);)
Lachlan Jan 25, 2008, 08:57 AM Very interesting... I will try it... Should seems a different approach....
But, India
And Cush ?
Lokolus Jan 25, 2008, 09:14 AM Thought you weren't making a 600 BC scenario?! Will have to check this out. )
When I saw your's I already had a half baked scenario, and after I checked it out I saw that you had a different approach, mine is more based on Rhye's Greek world...
But, India
And Cush ?
India is the Magadhan Empire, I just didn't want to have all different dinasty names (Zhou, Magadha, # dinasty of Egypt). Nubia is a different name for Kush.

Did you check out Gengis_Kai's World 500 BC scenario?
JEELEN Jan 25, 2008, 05:30 PM Good idea! Roman Invasion on a World Map, not just Europe!
BTW, I'm still waiting for your Real Comment on 600 BC for BTS...
Lokolus Jan 26, 2008, 01:11 AM Did you check out Gengis_Kai's World 500 BC scenario?
not yet, I did'nt know there was one.
JEELEN Jan 26, 2008, 04:08 AM There is, but it's for Warlords, from his World History series: World 2000 BC, World 1000 BC, World 500 BC. I asked him if he'd update any of them to BTS, but he said no (too busy on his Giant Earth map project, I suppose) and he didn't mind if I did an update. So I did. (Sorry if I beat you to it, wasn't intending to.);)
BTW, you up for a co-project on The Crusades, starting 1096 AD? So far I've got a map set up with a couple of cities in, but no civ definitions fixed yet. (Just wondering, as I really like the way your scenarios seem thoroughly researched.):mischief:

I don't know, If you'l PM me the map I'll check it and might help you out, but if you want to make a mod I can't really help you...
Lachlan Jan 26, 2008, 11:22 AM What about an "Earth 100 AD" or an "Earth 2000 BC ?"
If JLNiholt or Lokus can make one or both...
I will be happy
JEELEN Jan 27, 2008, 04:13 AM I don't know, If you'l PM me the map I'll check it and might help you out, but if you want to make a mod I can't really help you...
Nice! (I'll send you a little something some time Monday, not being at home right now. I'm not up to do any modding as yet; I'm waiting for updates on CIV Gold mod and PSYX's Modern World 4 mod - which will keep my busy for a while updating when they become available.):mischief:
@Lachlan: I'm not doing a 2000 BC scenario myself; I did check out Genghis_Kai's World 2000 BC for Warlords scenario, but don't really see how enough civs can be included to make that a worthwile BTS-scenario. (But maybe Lokolus has an idea for this?) I'll keep the 100 AD idea in mind though; that seems like it might provide an interesting scenario. (What do you think, Lokolus?);)
Lokolus Jan 27, 2008, 05:03 AM I think that this thread should be on my Earth 600 BC scenario... I don't have a lot of free time so I can't make a lot of scenarios, but now I'm working on upgrading my Earth 1600 AD.

You're right ofcourse - and I'm definitely curious about that upgrade!;)
Figaro Jan 27, 2008, 06:52 AM I'd like to see a 1900 map (or even 1941 or 1945); there are others but they're almost always mods (with billions of units as a result). I like that your stuff is scnearios instead of mods.
JEELEN Jan 29, 2008, 12:44 AM Guys, use the Scenario request thread.;)
Angst Feb 01, 2008, 04:25 AM Upload some screenies plz :D
Nahtanoj Feb 02, 2008, 08:34 AM where do i add the file to?
Lokolus Feb 02, 2008, 10:08 AM If you extracted it, (You need to extract the file from the archive, download winrar: http://www.rarlab.com/) put it in the public maps folder or click on it.
Lokolus Feb 04, 2008, 10:34 AM do you have any more suggestions? (I'm planning to update this scenario)
JEELEN Feb 04, 2008, 11:45 AM Another update?:) What do you have in mind?
Lokolus Feb 05, 2008, 08:16 AM Just fixes and changes...
JEELEN Feb 05, 2008, 08:33 AM OK, if you don't wanna tell...:cooool:
Lokolus Feb 21, 2008, 09:44 AM this scenario is after 300+ downloads, so I'll be glad if anyone would rate it.
JEELEN Feb 21, 2008, 02:56 PM I've got 2 of those: 1000 BC for BTS (300 DLs) and 1600 AD for CIV Gold BTS (435 DLs)... It gets weirder: 1000 BC for CIV Gold BTS got 4 stars, but only 174 DLs so far... (So much for statistics...);)
EDIT: Maybe we should start making scenarios by request only:rolleyes:
Rex rgis of Ter Feb 21, 2008, 07:05 PM Can we get some screenshots?
JEELEN Feb 21, 2008, 09:15 PM  Didn't see the DL page, did you?
Lokolus Feb 22, 2008, 03:08 AM Can we get some screenshots?
There are screenshots in the download page.
Maybe we should start making scenarios by request only
I'm currently working on a huge scenario, so I can't really start making other scenarios...
JEELEN Feb 22, 2008, 04:22 AM I'm currently working on a huge scenario, so I can't really start making other scenarios...
Pray tell: what's it about?
Lokolus Feb 22, 2008, 05:40 AM Its a global WW2 scenario (Modless).
JEELEN Feb 22, 2008, 07:51 AM That's:cooool:! (Start a new thread already!)
Lokolus Mar 04, 2008, 09:55 AM I took advantage of the error and updated the scenario:
Byzantion is now a Macedonian city
Judah is less overpowered
Change Indian Empire to Magadhan Empire
Added more Celtic units
Added Olbia for Carthage
Added Ji as a barbarian city (Beijing)
Added a city in North Korea\Manchuria
Some more changes that I can't remember
JEELEN Mar 04, 2008, 01:17 PM Good for you!;)
lymond Mar 11, 2008, 03:19 PM Here are a couple of thoughts on the scenario below. This mod is the first of its type that I've played other than the full Rhyes'. I love playing CIV in the ancient world.
1) My top recommendation is regarding the tech tree. One reason that I like playing in the ancient world is using more archaic weaponry and technologies. The fact the tech tree is not stunted really takes away from the gameplay. Do to the slowness of the game (not saying that's bad by the way), and the advancement of some civs over others, it makes it a little hard to compete. For instance, I played the Celts who were far less advanced the many of the CIVs. I enjoyed the game up to a point and did okay in driving out the Greeks and Carths, but once CIVS started get maceman and other advanced weaponry like ships, I lost interest. I didn't even finish the game.
2) I think the Celts could start out with a few more technologies - they are way behind.
Good scenario overall ...just needs a few tweaks
Lokolus Apr 04, 2008, 01:52 PM Desperate for a rating...:(
Lokolus Apr 25, 2008, 04:12 AM More than 750 downloads but no rating...
I can also say that after a long break, I'm working on another earth scenario that will be up in a few days.
Lokolus Apr 28, 2008, 06:59 AM hallelujah! a rating! and not a bad one either! (A-)
JEELEN Apr 28, 2008, 10:02 AM Well, finally!
Traiano Apr 28, 2008, 10:23 AM hallelujah! a rating! and not a bad one either! (A-)
Yeah, that was me!
The reason for the minus is just due to the lack of religions and the fact that - willing or not - now I have become an addict of the GEM.
But it is always good to go back to a good old fashioned huge earth size map, that improves the game playability so much, compared to the GEM.
I did play a game the other day and it was refreshing not to wait for 2 min per turn!
Lokolus Jun 04, 2008, 07:11 AM 1000 downloads!
king_oneeye Jun 21, 2008, 04:00 AM Really love this scenario, thanks!
jet9313 Oct 10, 2008, 10:27 AM hey this looks great but im having trouble downloading it can you help?
Lokolus Oct 11, 2008, 04:27 AM Can you detail a bit?
Ricay Nov 27, 2008, 09:04 AM It looks really fun, its just that I don't have the BTS expansion pack. 5/5.
martin1224 Apr 08, 2009, 12:57 PM i want to know how to get the earth map (normal) and put different civilizations in it
JEELEN Apr 08, 2009, 02:25 PM Welcome, martin1224! You should ask questions in the main Civ4 forum, but to answer yours: you can open any WBS file with a text editor (Notepad will suffice) and edit the names of the civs that are in. To actually put in the civs/leaders, you need to copy (and paste) their exact parameters (as listed in the BtS\Assets\XML\Civilizations files) into the WBS you've opened and save as a WBS. That's it in a nutshell.;)
faulah Jan 29, 2010, 10:25 PM Is this BTS or Warlords? What file to I extract to? Same questions regarding 1600, 1643, 1862, and 1914.
JEELEN Jan 29, 2010, 11:07 PM BtS. Extract into your .../PublicMaps folder and you're good to go. ;)
faulah Jan 30, 2010, 09:15 AM BtS. Extract into your .../PublicMaps folder and you're good to go. ;)
Thanks! I'm so excited to play these!
JEELEN Jan 30, 2010, 04:32 PM You're welcome. ;)
(Lokolus was a great inspiration when still modding.)
