View Full Version : Modules - Art Styles TAfirehawk Jan 26, 2008, 06:52 AM Discussion of Art Style modules. pheace Feb 21, 2008, 10:59 AM I have some wishes for this section. I have lately been trying to do a unit graphics update, epecifically the Ethnical Diverse Unit mods. I *have* been able to simply copy/paste the EDU Mod into WoC and *so far* at least been able to play with those changes however there are some other more expansive mods out there that do more than just that mod alone, many of which incorporate EDU in their own pack. Some examples are: Ethnic Artstyles by Geomodder Varietas Delectat by Avain and Diversica from Mamba Now I started out trying Ethnic Artstyles from Geomodder but ran into some problems I can't find my way around, I will show the 2 of I think 3 bug reports I found with it here: File: d:\project\world of civilization\sdk local\sdk bts v3.03\cvxmlloadutilityset.cpp Line: 1386 Expression: bSuccess Message: Assert Failed File: d:\project\world of civilization\sdk local\sdk bts v3.03\cvglobals.cpp Line: 3912 Expression: strcmp(szType, "NONE")==0 || strcmp(szType, "")==0 Message: type ARTSTYLE_WEST_EUROPEAN not found The other message was the same as the last but for Meso American. The Meso one about twice, the W-European one about 10 times. If I push through the errors the game *does* load for me, however I haven't had the courage to play for a significant amount of time yet to see if there occur any errors later on in fear of losing my game to it. Both the other Mods seemed to come up with errors from the same sdk section. If this sort of post is out of place here my sincerest apoligies As for working additions I found to WoC so far, I have so far added EDU mod and Civ-specific Great People mod so far seemingly without side effects ^^ Edit: I should add it's the Modular version of EDU that *does* work TAfirehawk Feb 21, 2008, 05:01 PM I have some wishes for this section. Maybe that will clear up some issues..... pheace Feb 21, 2008, 05:31 PM Ahh, that is lovely to hear, Diversica seems like a great collection :) I'm all still very new to this. I did the Tortoise -> SVN Asset download tonight but unfortunately the SVN one crashed on map generation but perhaps that is because i copied over the ini from the old world of civ since I wasn't sure if it would load without it. (I named the dir World of Civilization SVN though, so for all I know that doesn't work ^^) I will try again after the weekend when I get back from my old folks place ^^ Fierabras Mar 18, 2008, 03:40 PM The other message was the same as the last but for Meso American. The Meso one about twice, the W-European one about 10 times. I just found the error with Ethnic Artstyles concerning ARTSTYLE_MESO_AMERICA. As you can see there is no such artstyle in Geomodder's work. By his own admission this was a typo in CIV4CityLSystem.xml In this file replace all ARTSTYLE_MESO_AMERICA with the correct ARTSTYLE_SOUTH_AMERICA JackTheNarrator May 04, 2008, 03:02 AM Hi, First, that's great what you have done there it s what I was looking for years... However, I have desperatly try to add varietas delectat by changing the XML shema and so on and it desperately crashes... Does anyone has successfully played with this module in WOC? I have tried has well Diversica everything works smoothly appart from my units that remain with the original BTS skins... One change is that the loading time is just x10 slower.... Help please ! Those modules are probably the most popular out there, back compatibility will be appreciated.... mamba May 04, 2008, 04:12 AM However, I have desperatly try to add varietas delectat by changing the XML shema and so on and it desperately crashes... Does anyone has successfully played with this module in WOC? never tried it I have tried has well Diversica everything works smoothly appart from my units that remain with the original BTS skins... One change is that the loading time is just x10 slower.... never tried that either, but both should work right out of the box as far as I can tell Help please ! Those modules are probably the most popular out there, back compatibility will be appreciated.... apart from changing the schemas and setting modular = 0 in the ini, nothing should be needed (although I have not tried it). I have a working version of Diversica for WoC though (changed to WoC format), so once they will release their 1.00 I will follow shortly thereafter ;) As to being most popular, I guess Amra is definitely more popular than both VD and Diversica, I have no idea why though (must be all the people who used his Civ4 and Warlords mods now jumping to his BtS mod) ;) JackTheNarrator May 04, 2008, 10:02 AM never tried that either, but both should work right out of the box as far as I can tell Well they don't :( apart from changing the schemas and setting modular = 0 in the ini, nothing should be needed (although I have not tried it). Well If you tried it you will see that it doesn't work... I have a working version of Diversica for WoC though If it is the one on the SVN it s not working for me on the 0.92... mamba May 04, 2008, 10:38 AM If it is the one on the SVN it s not working for me on the 0.92... It isn't, and the fact that the SVN version is not working is due to an error in WoC 0.92. mamba May 04, 2008, 11:08 AM Well If you tried it you will see that it doesn't work... Tried it, doesn't work, just like you said (not that I doubted it). I'd say this is due to some bugs in WoC 0.92, the xml should work under WoC (without making use of any of its features obviously). From a schema point of view, WoC is a superset of regular CIV, so any regular xml should work on WoC as well (without making use of its features and without being any more easily plugged in or out). Of course 0.92 is rather old by now, chances are things are better on more recent releases (not that you can access them already). JackTheNarrator May 04, 2008, 11:19 AM Of course 0.92 is rather old by now, chances are things are better on more recent releases (not that you can access them already). I hope so! I waiting for the 1.00 !! Do you know where I can access the newer versions that work with diversica ? NikNaks May 04, 2008, 11:20 AM The most recent versions are not available for download at the moment. We are waiting for the official Firaxis patch. JackTheNarrator May 04, 2008, 11:26 AM The most recent versions are not available for download at the moment. We are waiting for the official Firaxis patch. I see... Any estimated date ? Do you have an idea of the content of the new release, because the 0.92 was containing many mods and actually I do not really see the point of having in the first install package pre-installed mod appart from the one merged in the SDK (+the TGA file already full of preexiting icon for new religon... ok that's many mods already)... Just my 2 cents NikNaks May 04, 2008, 11:31 AM No real idea of a release. Hopefully within a month or two. About your other point, when we release properly, we will only release the core (the SDK and required XML, art and Python files) and modules will be available as a separate download. JackTheNarrator May 04, 2008, 11:41 AM About your other point, when we release properly, we will only release the core (the SDK and required XML, art and Python files) and modules will be available as a separate download. So will we have to merge the SDK with let's say the enhanced city radius, revolution, pirate and so on...? NikNaks May 04, 2008, 11:42 AM I don't understand what you're asking. All the SDK mods will of course be included in the DLL, but the modules enabling them will not. JackTheNarrator May 04, 2008, 12:01 PM I don't understand what you're asking. Sorry for the impreciseness of my English, I m living in London since 2006 but the French part remains stronger :) NikNaks May 04, 2008, 12:13 PM Ah, I see. Well, glad we got it sorted out. P.S. In English, when talking about something which started some time ago, but still continues now, we use the perfect tense, so it should be: "I've been living in London..." I know this because I often make the opposite mistake in French :) JackTheNarrator May 04, 2008, 01:20 PM P.S. If so I got it fixed for you. The path to put this is Woc/Assets/Modules/Units/Unique/Then eithe 1st or Second, whichever one you want to designate it. |
