I have searched this forum, the Civ 4 Scenario folder, read up on the Civ4 Wiki and Google for over an hour before I decided to post this humble request, so I want those who are experienced that I get that "
Search is my friend" but I cannot seem to find the dummies guide to this hopefully simple request.

My friend and I are recent Civ fans (starting with Civ4) and we want to be able to create or modify our own Scenarios.

A simple example we are attempting to do:
=================================

My friend Erik and I both like the 1000 AD Scenario, but for starters we want to modify the game from Normal to Epic length. The catch for us is we cannot find the external editor to let us do this. It would seem that we have to fire up Civ4, load the mod, choose a civ to play, and then after the game has started you enter the world builder. But then we cannot modify the game defaults because we are 'already playing it'.

We tried to use the Custom Scenario against the 1000 AD Scenario (to cut our teeth on modding basics) but that shows the turn scope is greyed out (locked) so it can't be modified there either.. :confused:

We are trying to figure out what we need to do to be able to take 1000 AD as a learning steps and modify the scenario defaults and the scenario so that we can send each other our new or modified scenarios to each other for play.

If someone could point me to the right faq or wiki on how create or modify a scenario already in place that would be greatly appreciated.

You would probably get more answers in the main C&C forum, but lookie here.

Edit: You can open and edit the Word Builder Save in Notepad.
