Can you built an Empire on which the Sun will never set?

This is really a WIP. I put a lot of time into it a while ago, but it really needs some python events (for example the Civil war) and a few new unit arts.

But pretty much everything else is there.

The Scenario starts in 1850 and progresses in two month increments. I am not sure how far it goes at the moment, but it is supposed to go right up to World War I.
This includes a new tech tree from the Industrial age on, so no Nukes while still allowing the smaller civilizations to catch up somewhat.
Also quite a few new units and classes, so it will not be so boring.
Also, it is not balanced, as in the British Empire is probably the easiest to play. It is as historical as I could get, though I am sure some things are still off, like army sizes.

Included Civilizations (*denotes playable)

United States of America*
Arabian Tribes*
Mexico*
Malaysian Pirates
Non Aligned European Settlements
African Tribes
West Coast Indian Tribes*
China*
Egypt*
British Empire*
Ethiopian State*
French Empire*
Prussia*
Minor European Nations
Austria*
Chile*
Pacific Islands
Japan*
South East Asian Tribes
North Asian Tribes
Mali*
Argentina*
Mountain Indians*
Plains Indians*
The Netherlands*
Ottoman Empire*
Afghan Tribes
Peru*
The Two Sicilies*
Russian Empire*
Spanish Empire*
Brazil*
Sweden*
Zulu Tribes*
British North America
British Pacific Colonies (Both of which are on a team with the British Empire and are Minor Civilizations.)

Most of the civilizations need flags, but of course this is still early.

Art (Required)

Basically I posted this to see if anyone would take it on and finish her up. As I said python and a few new art things (some of which there is out there).

Thanks to all who's art and other stuff I have used. I probably should have listed it.

If this scenario starts in 1850, Texas should be under American control, not Native Indian control.

Ok, a few of those images are not the most up to date, so maybe I fixed that. :p Did the Comanche Migrate Westward because I am sure I read about a Comanche war..

Thanks DK. :) This has none of the new artwork out, I did not want to spend my whole day on it instead of the Mikasa eh Wolfie? ;)

Tell me what the AI does and all. I got a few turns in with the Netherlands to see how the British work and I had Canada split off and go to war with Britain so I fixed that. Then I had the British making who knows were into colonies so that is why I added the Pacific colonies in. (Australia, New Zealand and Port Moresby).

All right, I'll give it a go tomorrow morning (no matter how much a waste of time sleep is ;)) and get back to you. :p

The Texans declared independance and won it from Mexico in 1836. It was an independant Republic for 9 years until 1845 when it annexed the United States into the Republic of Texas... triggering the Mexican American War, which was over by 1850 (so if you want to get really technical, all of the western US would be US territory, but at the very least Texas should be American, not indian).

Now get back to work on the Mikasa... you're slacking... you have to do the Mikasa and another USS Iowa before you can slack-off Matt!

If you want it so bad, wolfie, why don't you just make it yourself?

If you want freedom of speech, why don't you just join the military yourself Dutchking?

Exactly why you need to enlist.

Freedom isn't free.

Wolfie, I'm sorry but your posts are growing more and more irritating by the minute, please don't insult my intelligence. The military has not go to do jack with freedom of speech, and its completely off topic.

Exactly... your posts are growing more and more insulting by the minute. You'd be best to check yourself before insulting everyone in uniform on this board.

How did I insult "everyone in uniform"? Explain to me, just how I insulted every United States soldier.

Have you two guys downloaded the art files and unzipped them into the Empires Under the Sun\Assets Directory? They are vital.

Sorry for the delay, internet connection was down for a couple days..

And yes, it is BTS.

So what type of errors are you getting? That would be a good clue. Is the Art in the proper Directory?

Will there be an update some time in the near future? (Just thought I'd ask something actually related to your work...):mischief:

Haha, well actually I am not sure. Possibly you know if I feel the whim. But I put this out there more to see if someone would take it over, and also to get comments. Afaik (no one has said much more than a couple things) all it needs, besides changing a few cities and some new art, is python scripting, and I have no idea in that area..

I am having problems with this also. I have extensive experience with using mods and scenarios and it is installed in the normal fashion and I do not see any special instructions. I can get the mod to load but the maps do not appear under scenarios whether I have them as privatemaps or as public maps inside the mod or in the general maps folder for BTS. If I go to the map folder and click on the map to load it says the required mod does not exist eventhough I was just running it. There seems to be some problem with the mod and maps recognizing each other or I am doing something really stupid.

That is weird. Hmm, did you rename the mod folder by any chance?

No. did a clean install then put the art folder from the art download in the assets folder of the mod. I am really baffled

Hmm. Well this might work as a workaround. Do you know how to set a mod to load everytime you start Civ? If so, do that with this mod, then try loading the scenario from the file again (Ie double clicking on the scenario file).

This is actually the very same thing that's happening to me:confused:

No joy either by the above, using a mod loader or launching from inside a vamilla start. What really baffles me is the save file not showing up in the scenario menu even when I put a copy directly in the BTS map folder.

I also notice the error message wen I click the actual worldbuilder save file to start gives a different spacing and capitaliztion pattern than the actual mod name. Do not know the programing of mods well enough to know if that might have something to do with the problem.

OK this may be a clue for those wiser than I. I found a work around.

I loaded the mod and just clicked on "Play Now". I then went into World Builder, clicked the load button and navigated to the private map folder in the mod and loaded the map. When it loaded, I went into the choose civ menu of the scenario and appear to have started the scenario. I have not played through a game yet.

Obviously this is not the way it should work, but it does get you in.

Ahh, I was going to mention that if my other thought did not work. But that is extremely weird as I can load it from the menu..
