TheLastOne36 Feb 03, 2008, 04:26 PM Just as the title says, what kind of Cell Phone do you have?
I have the Samsung M610:

edit:
Perhaps if we list pro's con's of having the phone this might be of some use to discuss?
Agreed.
My Samsung M610 is extremely thin (thinner then the RAZR) has a huge screen (bigger then the RAZR) and has more options then the RAZR. Although everyone i know with a RAZR refuse to admit it...
My package was awesome to, Unlimited internet, Unlimited Texts and unlimited Calls with 10 pickable people which i can change at any time :D
Zelig Feb 03, 2008, 04:46 PM No cell phone, Canadian cell phone providers suck, so until they become competitive with European providers, I refuse to pay more money for sub-par service.
carmen510 Feb 03, 2008, 05:03 PM Extremely crappy T-Mobile generic cheap one. So generic that Google has decided not to list it. At least 6 others in my class has the same type of phone.
Abaddon Feb 03, 2008, 05:10 PM Perhaps if we list pro's con's of having the phone this might be of some use to discuss?

toft Feb 03, 2008, 05:55 PM I just bought the motorola razr v8, and I wouldnt recommend it to anyone. I had the razr v3 a while back, and that was actually better! Sony Ericsson will definately be my next choice.

Knight-Dragon Feb 03, 2008, 10:11 PM A free Sony Ercisson K-630i. I think...
Decent phone, with MP3 playback capability (nice), and a 2.0 megapixel camera (crappy, but which I never touch anyways).
Speedo Feb 03, 2008, 10:22 PM Razr V3m. It's kinda meh. Good voice quality, worthless for music playback, so-so battery life, but small & easy to carry.
My 2 years of bondage to Verizon end this summer... I'll probably just hang onto the Razr until the updated iPhone comes out.
stickciv Feb 04, 2008, 12:06 AM My cell phone is the best of them all. Light, unlimited battery life, excellent voice quality, and all the features you can imagine. It is called my voice and face to face conversation.
The Yankee Feb 04, 2008, 12:22 AM Samsung SGH-D407

Julian Delphiki Feb 04, 2008, 03:20 AM I recently got n95 8gb
http://img.gsmarena.com/vv/bigpic/nokia-n95-8gb.gif (http://www.gsmarena.com/nokia_n95_8gb-2088.php)
It's quite packed with features (good camera, good connectivity, media features etc.) and it has some interesting applications as well.
Nokia Sports Tracker (http://research.nokia.com/research/projects/SportsTracker/) is a GPS based activity tracker that runs on S60 smartphones. Information such as speed, distance and time are automatically stored to your training diary. To be able to use application for real, you need Nokia S60 3.0 or 3.1 phone with Bluetooth GPS device or Nokia S60 3.0 or 3.1 phone with integrated GPS.
Thats really cool, as it tracks movement and calculates distance travelled, amount of kcals burned etc. It's possible import the route to google earth, application itself does not have map support yet.
From now on i will turn this thing on whenever i go to bar, no more totally lost hours spend walking on weird places - now i can later check where i was wandering ;) (unless i lose the phone, that is..).
Battery life is quite sucky, but i can live with that.
classical_hero Feb 04, 2008, 05:39 AM I have a U880 from LG. The main problem that iI have with it is that it is not that sturdy and as a result of my drooping numerous times, one of the sides of the flip top is broken so I need to be careful with it. Apart from that, I have no problems with it, and the cause of my problems are my stupidity, but I will mke sure that the next phone is not a flip top one. IT is certainly better than my previous phone. which is why I like it.

Samsung SGH-E317. Got it in January 2005. The paint's all coming off.
My cell phone is the best of them all. Light, unlimited battery life, excellent voice quality, and all the features you can imagine. It is called my voice and face to face conversation.
But can you send pictures?

I also got an iPhone, but I dropped it and now its broken... :(
Padma Feb 04, 2008, 12:28 PM But can you send pictures?
Sure! Just pull them out of your pocket and hand them over! :D
On topic, I use a Palm Treo 700p.

Heh, I remember when I was on 1st grade, the big boys were proud when they had a cell phone like Nokia 5110 or 3210. :D
Nokia 6151 is mine. You can call and send text messages with it, those are the most important things in it.
Mise Feb 04, 2008, 03:02 PM I have a 3310. Need to upgrade it at some point...
Narz Feb 04, 2008, 09:19 PM I had some cheap POS w/ a pay per minute plan (10cents a minute, no monthly fee, usually $100 would last me about a year) but I lost it (only had about $18 left on it anyway so I wasn't too sad).
I probably won't get another celly cause the cons outweigh the pros. I'll probably get a Vonage account & make unlimited calls from home thru my cable modem.
cthom Feb 05, 2008, 05:48 AM just got a sony ericsson w300i off a friend. i try not to get caught up in the upgrade mania some young ones seem to have. if it works i'm happy :)
philippe Feb 05, 2008, 06:07 AM I have a 3310. Need to upgrade it at some point...
i have the same good one, these things are very sturdy. All that high-tech mumbo jumbo, yes go ahead and pay 400 euros for taking crap pictures :D
never upgrade mise, keep it old-skool
Abaddon Feb 05, 2008, 06:11 AM If you want cool retro get a sony Z7. They are soo freaking cool!

philippe Feb 05, 2008, 07:20 AM Did you even look at the phone you ass-hat?
Yes I had, it's the main reason I said no, lobotomy-fanboy.
Abaddon Feb 05, 2008, 08:01 AM Where are you pulling that from? How am i being fanboy about it?
Narz Feb 05, 2008, 09:08 AM fanboy is the word of the day for anyone who has passion about anything ever.
whenever you believe in something it's apparently "cool" to accuse you of being on a bandwagon (fanboy).
stickciv Feb 05, 2008, 09:23 AM Oi, keep the OT in OT.

do you feel the need to defend your cousin?
Both of you seem to lack any sense of the word "lobotomy-fanboy",lobotomy-fanboys
LucyDuke Feb 05, 2008, 11:28 AM How does everyone feel about flip-phones? I have owned one non-flip-phone and one flip-phone, and I don't think I'd ever want a non-flip-phone again. I don't like dialing things in my pocket, and there's something satisfying about ending a call by snapping shut the phone. You just don't get the same satisfaction from pushing a button.

They're just trying to break in the new forum with its first flamewar.

Plus you can pretend to be Captain Kirk.
Hitti-Litti Feb 05, 2008, 11:38 AM Flip-phones are neat, but the problem is that sometimes the phone's hinge gets broken, so the upper part flips and flops up and down. Though then opening it is cooler, as you can just point with your flip-phone's lower part between your fingers to some place and the upper part opens like magic!
One girl in my class broke her flip-phone's hinge, the upper part was just hanging from a couple of cables/wires/whatever a phone has in it, it didn't look like a wire nor a cable, and it still worked as it did before. It looked cool. :D

I don't like flip phones because the part that flips might get broken and detached very easily. Also, you don't have to worry about accidentally dialing something using a candy bar - style phone, because they usually can be locked. (Just press menu + * keys on Nokia phones).

Don't like flip phones. They break easily & have crappy battery life compared to non-flippers.
I dropped my non-flipper from two 2nd floor in Borders & it bounced off the carpet, battery came out but phone was fine. :)
Geez, now I kinda miss it. :undecide:

Meh, nothing worth getting "fired up" abotu.

I disagree. I've had some old Samsung flip phone for years now... Its old and deteriorated now, but its never broken, it even survived being dropped in soup once. You can buy seperate batteries for pretty cheap nowadays... I got some cheapy lithium battery that usually last around 5 days without being charged, and its all over 3 years old.
Overall though the only thing that matters to me is that it dials numbers, and doesn't take pictures of my pocket.
Narz Feb 05, 2008, 07:07 PM Just my subjective opinion, perhaps skewed since my GF's "Razr" has such short battery life.
TheLastOne36 Feb 06, 2008, 07:22 PM Just my subjective opinion, perhaps skewed since my GF's "Razr" has such short battery life.
Compared to my Samsung M610
Which is another reason why it's better then the Razr.
xienwolf Feb 07, 2008, 10:30 AM Cingular 8525 for me (HTC Hermes is the base, most carriers re-packed/skinned and renamed it to something else). I wasn't quite patient enough to wait on the i-Phone at the time, and needed something that could do Word & Excel so that I can do work from my office/lab/classes (whatever I want) on my phone instead of also carrying around a PDA.
Pokurcz Feb 07, 2008, 10:53 AM I have a Nokia 3310, my grandfather has a more modern phone...
Quintillus Feb 12, 2008, 11:34 AM Sony Ericsson z520a (2006). Flip phone.
Advantages:
*Can take a beating. I don't know how many times I've dropped it, including on hard surfaces, and it's just a bit scratched up. The battery is a bit beat up from collisions with the ground as well, but still works fine.
*Very good battery life. Lasts more than a week in light use and more than eight hours talking. Also recharges quickly - more than 1% per minute.
*Can take pictures and video and sound recordings
*Can text/Internet, except that it costs money so I don't take advantage of that
*Bluetooth/Infrared transfer options for photos and sounds - which means I can upload my photos for free and download ringtones (or whole songs) from my computer for free
*Works almost everywhere in the world
Disadvantages:
*Pictures are 640x480 max, and thus are kind of poor quality
*Only 32 MB memory so I can't store a whole lot on it. One or two mp3's max.
*Bluetooth isn't the fastest transfer method ever
*AT&T bought Cingular. I like Cingular better. Less shady government wiretapping dealings.
Would I get it again? Yes, if it were the time I bought it. But I don't know if I'll get AT&T again - I don't like them as a company much.
classical_hero Feb 13, 2008, 07:28 AM I have just got a new phone due to the fact that I broke my other phone after dropping it too many times. It is an LG U970.
