Personally, I believe that was the best Super Bowl of the decade. This is made even better by the fact that I am a die-hard Giants fan. Post any comments on Super Bowl XLII here.

That was a wonderful game; I was cheering for the Giants, though mostly because I really hate the Patriots. This one will be remembered for a long, long time.

We were due a good game after the past two snoozers.

^ Manning Miracle?

I thought it was great.

I agreed with pretty much everything Madden said, when the Giants went with the field goal early on, instead of going for the touchdown, and later, the Patriots went for the touchdown on the 4th, instead of going for the easy 3 points (even though they failed the first time), I thought for sure they were gonna win.

I mean if youre the underdog, you don't wanna play it safe, you want to shake the other guys to their core, early on.

That offense of theirs was like trench warfare. Just 1 yard at a time.
Their defense was something else, how many times did they sack Brady?
Great play.

Very intense game, that last minute goal was very exciting, great game.

I'll miss work tommorrow, but that game was totally worth it.

As a Pats fan, I don't mind losing, but I don't like the manner in which they did it.

I can't complain about the outcome of the game, because only one team showed up to play four quarters of football.

My hat's off to the Giants... but it wasn't really a good game.

Oh, I don't live in Atlanta; I just go to school here.

The only reason I pull for the Braves in the NL (unless they're playing the Cubs) is because they're really Boston's NL team.

I honestly have to say it was a remarkably dull game until the Giant's winning drive.

I'm glad someone agrees...

I only wish I could have known only the last ten minutes would be worth watching; I had homework to do.

Good game up till half time, had to go to bed. I am not a big fan of amercian football, cause it always seems disjointed with no flow to the game. But last night wasn't so bad.

That game was awesome. A great defensive slug-fest for the first three quarters, and then a mad, offensive scramble by both teams at the end. Normally I'm a Chiefs fan, but I was rooting for the Patriots, as I wanted to see them go all the way. As good as that game was, I can't be annoyed that they lost in the end.

Defense =/= boring. The slow play was tempered by the feeling that you were watching the greatest offense ever be stopped. I was waiting for something big to happen, for the Patriots to take hold of the game.

It wasn't sloppy, it was just great defense. When I think of sloppy, I think of Superbowl XL...this was much better than that.

What a game. It really was the best American Football game I've seen in my life.
That play when Manning was about to be sacked and escaped... just awesome. I was rooting for the Giants, not a fan of the team though. The defense really won that game for NY. Brady always had 2-3 Giants in his face when passing. Great game.

I honestly have to say it was a remarkably dull game until the Giant's winning drive. I'm not sure we watched the same game. True, it was a low scoring defensive battle, but there was plenty to watch. Like that 4th and 13 call that NE made. From the 30 yard line, they decide to go for it rather than kick a field goal. Who goes for it on 4th and 13? The supreme confidence required to make that call ... And then there is Manning's interception in the red zone. Things looked bad for the Giants, but their defense would hold the Pats to 3 and out. The Giants get the ball back and what do they do? Fumble! In fact, how many times did the Giants fumble? It was something like 2 or 3 times, and yet they didn't lose the ball! How about Randy Moss being shut out in the first half? Tom Brady almost sacked in the end zone? Definitely not what I'd call dull ...

What a game. It really was the best American Football game I've seen in my life.
That play when Manning was about to be sacked and escaped... just awesome. You're right! That was a good throw that Manning made. And what about Tyree catching that ball? Holding the ball against his helmet, as he is falling down, in order to prevent the ball from bobbling? What presence of mind to make that catch! If he'd bobbled the ball, they probably would have ruled it an incomplete pass.

I really only fall the college ball, but it was certainly a great game last night. Not awesome, but really good.

Mostly I'm just glad it was a close, low-scoring game. I'm not really a fan of shootouts. Except in hockey. Those are fun.

The Giants smashed him all game yet Brady did enough to win. Who the hell would have guessed that Eli Manning would one-up Brady with an 83 yd drive to win.

The best game ever!!! Well in my life time anyway. I have to say that I was very interested throughout because I knew that one big play anywhere could break the game open. And lets not forget the Giants D-line, that was all them until the fourth quarter when Eli took charge.

One of the most disappointing and sad games I have ever seen or experienced. I haven't felt this way since 2003 against the Yanks.

This one stings. Bad. I couldn't even bring myself to read any sports articles or visit sports forums till about 20 minutes ago.

We blew it on that last drive by the Giants... so many plays can be over analyzed and scrutinized... ugh... it's just painful to rehash. David Tyree making the catch of his football career. Wow. Hey Rodney thanks for making sure the ball sticks firmly to his helmet. The Giants D-line absolutely whooped our lines ass all game long. Didn't seem like they only blitzed 1/3 of the time, did it? Nope, they got plain old out played. Matt Light, WHEN WILL YOU STOP MAKING FALSE START PENALTIES? WHEN? You could make a drinking game over false start penalties and number 72.

That being said, I have full confidence that the dynasty is not dead, and you will see the Patriots back in full form in 2008. This is still a championship squad and rebounding from moments like this are what amazing players and teams do. We still have Tom Brady, we still have BB, we still have Maroney who when healthy has proven he is a great RB, we still have some great young defensive players like Seymour and Colvin and Samuel, we still have our core squad. We will re-tool and come back strong. Randy Moss, I love you and would love to see you in a Pats uniform next year, but we can do it even if we can't afford you.

Perhaps saddest of all, I have nothing to watch next Sunday morning. See you Next Year, football.

I agree. Brady played a very, very good game. It may not have been up to the standards that people got used to this year, but he hadn't been harrassed like that all year. Eli Manning simply came up bigger than Brady in the 4th. Not because Brady played badly, but because Eli Manning played better...

Potentially yes.

There is the superbowl loser curse of course... ;)

That said, the Pats will need to do some things to get the dynasty back on track again:

Defense:
They need younger inside linebackers, a younger strong safety (Seau, Bruschi and Harrison wore down in the 2nd half and they won't be any younger next year). They need to resign Assante Samuel (while I think he's definately not a cover-corner, he still is their best defensive back, and the drop-off behind him is pretty big).

Offense:
Resingning Moss would be big, but not essential. Welker is the key receiver in that offense. I would suggest some younger OT's, with more athleticism. Not neccessarily to start, but to at least push the two veterans.

Special teams:
A new kicker? All season long Belichik has chosen 4th down attempts (regardless of distance) over long field goals. Doesn't he trust his kicker? If he doesn't trust him, he should get a new one, 'cause that 4th-and-13 attempt in the first half was ridiculous. That would've been a 48-49 yard attempt in an Indoor setting. If you don't even trust your kicker to at least attempt that fieldgoal, then you need an upgrade in that area...

Neutral fan, awesome game. First time I enjoy watching a low-score game that much, because it was stellar defense and not crappy offense. That last Giants drive was insane, and we all erupted in cheers when Manning pulled his miracle, cos boy was that a miracle!

Imagine how I felt after the 2002 Super Bowl. Losing to an inferior Patriots team. I was neutral before the game. Just favoring the NFL team(as I always do). Then I saw the story about the Pats taping the Rams before their SB. I became very anti-Patriot. I would have voted: awesome game - anti-Patriot if that option were availacle.
Also, kudos to Goodallboy for his quick Nixon impression and getting rid of any evidence before any case could be made.
