View Full Version : Montezuma
widdowmaker Feb 04, 2008, 04:05 AM Man is he bloodthirsty or what? HE founds budisim, i convert to it, i feed him resources, i do open borders with him, hes on the OTHER side of the continet(pangea)
I got like +12 with him with no - rep points, and then he declares war.
... wtf?
Willem Feb 04, 2008, 04:07 AM Yes, he's well known for that sort of thing. Shaka's kind of like that too. If you have both of them as neighbours in a game, you're in for a rough time.
Rotting Feb 04, 2008, 06:14 AM there's only one Leader, which ist more aggressive and irrationally behaving: Ragnar!
Refar Feb 04, 2008, 06:45 AM Ragnar is actually easy to get along with. Sure his peace weight is low. But he's no backstabber. He will attack if you are a easy pushover - in that case even Ghandi would :p But he's easy to get good relations with: Values "Mutual struggle" highly, does not care a lot about different religion.
And he's cute (I hope he does not read that, or he might decide to split my head in the next game :mischief:). From where i stand one of the more sympatetic leaders in the game.
mystyfly Feb 04, 2008, 07:10 AM Sounds like Monty was bribed.
PibbZ Feb 04, 2008, 07:54 AM Sounds like Monty was bribed.
By Shaka, probably ;)
Shirastro Feb 04, 2008, 08:00 AM It doesn't matter hoe much he "likes" you, if you have weak military he will attack you.
zinker Feb 04, 2008, 08:11 AM It doesn't matter hoe much he "likes" you, if you have weak military he will attack you.
That is always true for the kind of nut-job we are dealing with.:crazyeye:
widdowmaker Feb 04, 2008, 08:50 AM How can i compare my military to his? In civ 3 the advisor told you how well you stacked up, kinda.
It was weird, because i was being a hardcore warmonger with the ENEMY of monty. They were annoyed at each other and i did nothing but spam military units most of the game, didnt lose a whole lot either.
Is there a way to compare yours and another civs army?
mystyfly Feb 04, 2008, 08:55 AM F9, Power graph and Demo Screen
In BtS you can only see a rivals graph if you have a certain amount of EPs against him. In the Demo Screen you don't get that much info if you compare yourself to a certain rival but you can see how well you're doing nevertheless.
GIDS888 Feb 04, 2008, 10:58 AM Monty is a full basket of fruit. He will attack you if you married his sister and named all your kids after him.
You can (kind of) deal with Shaka and Ragnar, as long as it's from a position of strength - but Monty will attack you with a rusty spoon if you have Modern Armor!
I ALWAYS kill his sorry civ the moment I bump up against it!
Jedoc Feb 05, 2008, 03:30 PM Eh. If I don't have to deal with him right off the bat, I generally save him for last. You can out-tech him without any real effort, so as long as you over-fortify the cities closest to his empire, he's a fairly predictable and low-impact source of experience and Great General points. I'd much rather aim my trebs at someone who can do real damage if I leave them alive...like Shaka or Ragnar.
flamesweet Feb 05, 2008, 05:12 PM I just finished a game at nobel where Ragar was the leader (a bit less then half of the hole land was his) + he has 2 vassels.
Well...I just build an army so big I kicked his sorry ass and won dominition :)
King of Town Feb 06, 2008, 04:52 AM How can you not be expecting an attack from monty?
azzaman333 Feb 06, 2008, 05:39 AM Ragnar is worse because he will attack you regardless of how friendly you are with him, and he can keep up with tech unlike Shaka or Monty.
Still_Asleep Feb 06, 2008, 08:16 AM Monty will
1.) Attack you, even if he loves you, if you are really weak
2.) Attack you, even if you are really strong, if he hates you
If you keep good relations AND a decent army, he will attack someone else. Easy as pie.
Silence101 Feb 06, 2008, 02:47 PM Monty's animations are hilarious. I think he has some anger management issues that he needs to get worked out.
Bigfoot3814 Feb 06, 2008, 03:39 PM I think it doesnt matter how good your relations are, the AI is still smart enough to betray you!
