I recently purchased a new mouse, one of those where the mouse wheel tilts allowing you to scroll sideways. It's an awesome feature, one that has quickly become addicting! Unfortunately it doesn't seem to work in Civ.
Anyone have any ideas as to how to get it to work? Or is it not possible?
Thanks.

what exactly do you want it to do? A serious question. obvioulsy not move the map, that isn't what the main function of the wheel is (to zoonm in & out, not move map window up & down) & that would be very inconsistnet (bad) design to make tilting scroll bottun actually scroll sideways.
Only thing I can think of fo it is maybe rotate view left and right, like the ctl+arrow (or is alt+arrow) does. Maybe you could reprogram your mouse to interpret sideways scroll wheel as that if it's important enough to you (go in to windows control panel>mouse probably)

I just bought a USB wired mouse with that side scrolling wheel feature (it's a "Genius" mouse) and I can't get it to do anything in any games ... I'd like to know if anyone knows how to get it to work too! With or without drivers seems to make no difference.
(it's also got some buttons on the side which control the pc volume, and no matter how i configure them they only ever affect the volume)

I like the mouse wheel to zoom in and out. However, when I want to scroll sideways on the map I always find myself tilting the wheel before moving the mouse.
I know a lot of people may not find the tilt feature useful for scrolling sideways, but it's something I find immensely useful. It would be great to be able to use it in Civ.

I have a logitech cordless that allows me to program the buttons and wheel tilt. You should look for software for your mouse to see if you can get the same functionality.
I scroll the map left and right by programming the tilt to left arrow/right arrow and I have the button under my thumb set for "Enter" so I can end turn with that button.

Quick question, if we are talking about the computer device "Mouse" is the plural still "Mice" like when we are talking about animals, or is it "Mouses" ? :)....
Anyway, i didn't even know such mice/mouses even exist so, its not wonder not many games incorporate the side scroll feature :)
