View Full Version : Quickest way to up your score?
widdowmaker Feb 05, 2008, 06:34 AM What is the quickest way to up your score? forget about everything else, i just want my score number to be high quick. Can i abuse a mechanic to get it high or something?
There are 97 turns left in the game, domination and culteral victory are out of the question, as is conquest. Mansa Musa has the UN but is going for a space race victory, my score is 2200, his score is like 3100(this is on noble)
Since score is all that is left open to me, i think im going to spam nukes like a mofo(and defy the no nuke resolution) and then nuke his space ship cities into the ground. rest of the world will probably declare war on me, but if i can survive the 97 turns and pull ahead in score i win.
So how do i up my score quickly?
Refar Feb 05, 2008, 06:42 AM Score comes from Tech, Wonders, Land and Popualtion. To increase you score by 50% you need lots of those... Perhaps forcing some backward civs to capitulate to you ? You will get credited something about half of they score...
Another note.... Why not build a SS of your own ? Assuming you are not a complete backward (in which case your chances to survive a world war should be pretty low anyway) 97 turns are enought to Launch (and arrive) one of your own.
BTW. once the anti-nuke resolution is passed, you can not just "defy" it by building Nukes. Unless the resolution comes up to the vote again, there is no way to defy it...
widdowmaker Feb 05, 2008, 06:46 AM I meant id select "Never! (Defy Resolution)" when it came up, its realy more of a veto.
There really arent any civs that i could capitulate or vassalize, and i tried building a space ship, but it wont let me build the apollo program.
Refar Feb 05, 2008, 06:58 AM If Mansa can build Apollo/SS you can as well (meaning Space Race victory is enabled)
Assuming you have the tech (Rocketry), go to any city screen, and mouse over the Apollo icon - if it's disabled it will tell you why. Most probably if it's hidden in of your cities queue - you put it in a queue, then decided to build something else, and forgot about it...
widdowmaker Feb 05, 2008, 07:18 AM all my cities are spamming research, compared to mansa i am WAY backwards. HEs got like 20 something citys, ive got like 7.
And he has 3 vassals. What part of the city screen is the appolo program on? like, upper right? lower left? Thanks for letting me know bout the icon, cant find it, but i found the appolo program in the menu.
I swear, it wasent there before.
flaming_iles Feb 05, 2008, 08:51 AM It's a long shot, but if you're behind in tech, try beelining to computers and build the internet, it'll give you every technology known by 2 other civs (and therefore more points.) The most you can really get from it is 2-300 though
Julian Delphiki Feb 05, 2008, 08:58 AM Generally, early victory scores more points for HOF. Not much that you can do to obtain it in your current game, though.
Shirastro Feb 05, 2008, 11:46 AM Also, play on higher difficulty......your score will rocket!
Xurr Feb 05, 2008, 12:00 PM Also, play on higher difficulty......your score will rocket!
If he is having this much trouble at his current difficulty level, playing at a higher level will result in a lower score not higher.
troytheface Feb 05, 2008, 12:23 PM your plan may be sound but raze the enemies port cities after nukes with transported units. Need to hurry before SDI or build subs and Tactical nukes.
Tlalynet Feb 05, 2008, 04:15 PM He isnt asking for score for Hall of Fame points...
Anyway, If you can war with the big guy and take a couple cities you get the pop and territory points for you and cut them away from him. Thats about the only serious way to down his score and overtake him. Otherwise you can farm everything to get more pop points, but that wouldnt add up enough to win.
flamesweet Feb 05, 2008, 04:55 PM I think maybe I have an idea for you but you didnt tell us on what stage of the space ship is Mansa Musa on.
Does he even have the apolo?
Also please give a screen shot of the world and tell us how is your army going and of cours how many nukes you have right now.
Tlalynet Feb 05, 2008, 09:26 PM Yes, With the info Flamesweeet asked for you could get a lot of very pertinent and helpfull advice.
Bushface Feb 05, 2008, 10:06 PM So Mansa is ahead on points, has a lot more cities, and is already building a spaceship so is probably also ahead on techs. Unless you can destroy his production by whatever means, to stop his space program, and cut back his empire severely, and survive the war that follows, you are, I regret to say, going to lose. With only 7 cities in your empire, I don't think you have the slightest hope of victory.
To build a spaceship requires a lot of expensive techs and, to build the parts in a reasonable time, several cities with really high production. I suppose the basic question is "Do you have Rocketry ?", the prerequisite for the Apollo program.
paydro Feb 06, 2008, 01:10 AM He's already responded that he found Apollo, so he definitely has rocketry.
A save file would be nice, but I kind of agree with bushface, if he's got more production, more population, a tech lead, and a strength advantage, you're going to lose. With 97 turns left I don't think you'll get your space race completed in time, you've got no chance at a score or domination victory, and I'm guessing not cultural or diplomatic either.
Are you even 2nd in score? Unless you can war with everyone simultaneously I think this is a loss.
Silence101 Feb 06, 2008, 07:29 PM The quickest way to up your score:
- Kill someone
- Tech something
- Build something
- Expand somewhere
