I'm a total noob in modding. Can someone merge those mods in a single super cool mod?

[BtS] "Extra" (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=234906)
[Bts] Modern Era Expansion for Varietas Delectat v3.3 (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=253499)
[BtS] Dales Combat Mod (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=257210)

That would be awesome, don't you think?

You might be able to use 2 and 3 together (Varieatas Delectat should only touch artdefines, while dales combat mod most probaly will not touch those.)

You could just try merging the mod folders (Copying Var.Del. Stuff over into Dales Combat Mod) and look what happens. I never tried it myself however...

I can offer you some advice as to what to look out for... :)

1. Download the mods you want to try to merge.
2. Put them into separate folders.
3. Create a blank folder, and then copy the mod which has the most comprehensive changes into this folder. This MIGHT not be the largest mod! ;)
4. Check the other mods against this mod. Do they have any filenames in common? If not, you can pretty much just add them all together into the same folder, and it should work.
5. If they HAVE files in common, then the fun begins! You need to merge those files into new ones. It's a copy paste process, where you need to identify which changes are to be kept, which to be edited and which to be added. Use WinMerge and Notepad++, both are free tools available on the web.
6. LOOKOUT! If the mods share the file CVGameCore.dll, then you are in for some trouble. This is where my skills are inadequate, so I can't really give you any good advice, except to look for the guide on using the Software Development Kit (SDK). There's a link for it somewhere on this forum in a stickied thread...

Good luck! :)
