View Full Version : Space Opera Unit Pack
NavyDawg Feb 07, 2008, 02:30 PM These units have been previously released in the Space Opera (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?p=5897068#post5897068) scenario. I decided to go ahead and post them separately as well, for folks who did not d/l the whole mod.

TopGun Feb 07, 2008, 02:32 PM These are cool! BTW, what does the scientist do?
NavyDawg Feb 07, 2008, 02:39 PM These are cool! BTW, what does the scientist do?
Thanks. The scientist is a Great Leader type unit, so he doesn't do too much.;)
Sword_Of_Geddon Feb 07, 2008, 03:05 PM Nice units...I think I'll use the Merc as an Objective Force Warrior in my Heart of Destiny Reduxe mod. One question Navydawg are you still working on the expansion units? I'm curious to see what new creatures you put out as all your units are imaginative and great.
aaglo Feb 07, 2008, 03:23 PM These are pretty cool units. That space cruiser with the trippy hull is... well, trippy :)
Ozymandias Feb 07, 2008, 03:46 PM Thanks for posting these :) They're great looking units.

Mithadan Feb 07, 2008, 05:47 PM Wow, those are wicked! Are those Star Wars Tie-Fighter type dealies that come out of the Pillar of Autumn?
NavyDawg Feb 07, 2008, 06:27 PM Thanks all for the comments.
@ Swoggy, mainly I've made more spacefighters and spaceships for the next release of Space Opera. I do have some infantry planned, but I haven't gotten to them yet.
@ Mithadan, yes, they're Tie Bombers. As you can see, I took some liberties with mixing genres.
Ares de Borg Feb 07, 2008, 06:50 PM Very cool units. :)
Hikaro Takayama Feb 07, 2008, 09:28 PM Actually, they're TIE-Advanced (Prototype model, as used by Darth Vader in ANH)... TIE Bombers have two "Hulls" arranged side-by-side: 1 for the pilot and 1 for the missiles.... Of course, only a veteran X-wing/TIE-Fighter/X-wing vs TIE fighter player would be able to tell the difference at that scale ;)
Nice units, though.

You're right there. I'm not sure why I got them mixed up, I should have known.
Plotinus Feb 08, 2008, 01:28 AM Yes, back to nerd school for you!
Another great set of units. I don't know how you make so many good ones so quickly, and with such tricky special effects too. The Pillar of Autumn is amazing and has a great name.
Vuldacon Feb 09, 2008, 08:02 AM Well Done Space Unit Pack NavyDawg... Very Impressive Special Effects. I agree with Plotinus... the Pillar of Autumn is an awesome display of Special Effects and detailed animation. :goodjob:
zo-zo Feb 09, 2008, 08:10 AM I'm going to use all of these.
I wanted to extended my epic game further into the future and this will help greatly.
Extra Primo Good!!
Thanks
Synsensa Feb 10, 2008, 09:31 AM This is awesome! Great work NavyDawg!
cubsfan6506 Feb 10, 2008, 10:44 AM Great units.
LizardmenRule! Feb 12, 2008, 05:57 AM Thanks a lot for releasing these Dawg!
DragonBird Feb 17, 2008, 09:13 PM Love the StarWars/Halo themed picture :p. I laughed, I cried. It moved me.
Virote_Considon Feb 18, 2008, 08:53 AM Thanks, ND! These are all excellent! :goodjob:
Manny Kant Feb 16, 2009, 08:07 PM Finally get a chance to replace all of the units that I lost, and I stumble across NavyDawg not only having made a unit I long ago requested (Ash, though if I were around more often that wouldn't be a surprise) but the SDF-1 (from Macross/Robotech, listed here as Space Cruiser). No complaints today. And sorry for not noticing this a week and a half ago when everybody else did.

You mean 1 YEAR and 1.5 weeks.
CiaranB123 Feb 17, 2009, 11:35 AM Tut tut tut... a bit late
againsttheflow Feb 23, 2009, 12:44 AM Wait, a bump.. I never got to say how amazing the effects are on these guys. I sincerely hope we have not seen the last of Navy Dawg...
froggyman101 Apr 03, 2009, 01:09 PM is the scientist a worker? btw its a really nice pack
Deth McBones Apr 03, 2009, 01:19 PM (Sigh)...no. He's meant to be a replacement for the leader or Scientific leader, and has just a few limited animations.
And just to let you know before you bump a 5 year old thread, nobody on this forum enjoys n00bs lulzing about awesome units that were made before Conquests was even a twinkle in Sid's eye. Always check the original post's date before you post. Just a warning. As you had a legitimate question, there shouldn't be any wrath.
And welcome to CFC!
If you enjoy these units, I am about to release a scenario that uses a few of them. And of course, you should DL NavyDawg's awesome Space Opera scenario of which he made these units for.
froggyman101 Apr 03, 2009, 01:39 PM da best navydawg!!!

I could explain why it's still a pointless bump, but I'd rather not waste my breath explaining that which should be common knowledge.
Deth McBones Apr 03, 2009, 10:31 PM Yeah. Thus the (Sigh). I'm trying to be nice. Not that it matters. Oh well.

Don't worry, you'll soon find niceties for such occurrences are best left out.

Deth McBones Apr 04, 2009, 06:02 PM I always try to be at lest a bit civil. And besides, it was from a newbie and not a casual user.

I find that if you harsh right off the bat, they're more likely to remember.
Plotinus Apr 11, 2009, 04:33 AM I might remind everyone:

Madeira Apr 11, 2009, 07:35 AM Agreed! We're Civilized Fanatics ;)
Vinniemack84 Apr 14, 2009, 12:23 AM Thanks. The scientist is a Great Leader type unit, so he doesn't do too much.;)
These are awesome, the scientist would be a great worker or settler type unit for a future mod if you set up the proper animations.

But I'm like this all the time :D
