Hi all,

I was just spending some spare time to learn new technologies and decided to apply them in a new utility for Civ4.

It's still in its 0.2b release and theres a lot of work to be done.

- Features
. Easy-to-use interface
. Helps the user with its knowledge of which combinations can be made on a city square (terrain type, resource, improvement, etc)

- In the next version:
. Civics, traits, techs and sort of FPC influence will be included as options in the GUI and in the FPC calculations
. Game configuration (which traits, techs, etc will be used in the cities FPC calcs) and city configuration saving\loading

- Future features:
. Different city configurations comparison, helping someone in choosing what to do with the determined city.
. Better city report (that part of the screen next to the city squares)
. Improvement recommendations based on city stereotypes (GP Farm, Production City, etc).

- Good ideas to be implemented
. Help ppl with city placement

There are minor work to be done, like tabbed navigation, documentation, technical stuff, amongst others.

--------------------

Feel free to give suggestions either on the current version or about possible new features. Any help is really welcome, specially on beta testing.

Id also appreciate any advice about improvement recommendations when the time comes. Ive a good notion but in the future Id like to have an expert helping me if possible.

--------------------

I couldnt upload the file as .zip because it was too big for this file format limitations. Please change the extension to .rar. Then, just extract and run the .jar.

Just had a quick look. Must say I am impressed. You have set a new standard for City Planner GUI design! :hatsoff:

I am also working on a City Planner. In plain old Excel format. :yeah:
Resources, Improvements, Tech and Traits are already done. Civics and City tile FPC need to be done. Still to be published though...

We can use each others tool for testing ;)

Have fun.

In My very vague understandind of Civ IV, I can not figure out how to get Civs off my land when I want to break the treaty, unless I throwdown and go to war. By the way I do not have the the 90pg book of rules of which I seem to have heard about. Any help appresheated.

I was having a play with something along these lines a while ago, but found my Excel madskills a bit lacking and gave up on it. Link is here if you want a gander...

Civs in land = Open Borders treaty signed
Civs off land = Open Borders treaty cancelled

Open/Closed borders is a Diplomatic Status, so you do it by talking to other civs (= Diplomacy).

That's as concise as it gets.;)

Downloaded the planner. Good utility.:goodjob:
One thing I found was that if I've got grassland and I try to add the banana resource to it, it removes the grassland terrain attribute. I've not tried it with other terrain types yet. Is it something I'm not doing right?

Very odd. As I understand it, Banana grows in Jungle - which, however, usually is on top of Grassland... (BTW, I've got a map with Banana on Grassland, which is kind of silly in like, Russia. Although ofcourse one could take Banana to be another kind of fruit, seeing as there only is one in standard Civ.)

Hi ppl.. I stopped developing this version and made a entire new one. Since i didnt get any feedback i decided to abandon it too.

If any of u have interest on continuing the job, leave a msg. The newest version is much better than the one i made availabe above.

I tried the bananas again, this time on jungle. No problems. I think I'd already pre-cleared the jungle in preparation for a plantation.

I, for one, would be interested. I only discovered the utility last week. I've found it very useful so far.
