Partizanac Feb 14, 2008, 05:22 AM :woohoo: :goodjob:
maybe you are expecting this, but... can you do them as humans too? :mischief:
embryodead Feb 14, 2008, 05:22 AM More hobbitses, yummy. Awesome cloak animation on the burglar.
LizardmenRule! Feb 14, 2008, 05:54 AM Filthy little Hobbitses! Wicked, tricksy, false! We ought to wring their filthy little necks!
Awesome work as usual Plot. The cloak on the burgular is VERY impressive
aaglo Feb 14, 2008, 05:57 AM Yeah! The cloack on the burglar is mindblowing? Was it hard to animate that way?
Yoda Power Feb 14, 2008, 06:06 AM Plotinus you are just awesome. :goodjob:
Chuggi Feb 14, 2008, 06:30 AM Very awesome! I like the burglar best, but with green or brown teamcolour.. nice work. :D
Vuldacon Feb 14, 2008, 06:38 AM Excellent Pack of "Short People" Plotinus... :goodjob:
woodelf Feb 14, 2008, 07:12 AM These are beautiful Plotinus. Great work.
Kyriakos Feb 14, 2008, 07:20 AM Great :)
Plotinus Feb 14, 2008, 07:20 AM Thanks, all.
maybe you are expecting this, but... can you do them as humans too?
I don't think that's very likely.
Yeah! The cloack on the burglar is mindblowing? Was it hard to animate that way?
"Hard" is an understatement. After I'd put the model together and designed the animations, doing the cloak took another two full days. The animation still doesn't loop quite perfectly but you don't notice in-game, and hopefully my nerves will slowly restore themselves over time.
Sandris Feb 14, 2008, 07:21 AM AWESOME !!! Another breakthrough in animations, another step forward in unitmaking !
Stormrage Feb 14, 2008, 08:39 AM Amazing.. Thank you Plotinus
That is definately the best animated cloak out there.
Ares de Borg Feb 14, 2008, 08:47 AM Funny units - and well done! :)
Micaelus Feb 14, 2008, 10:17 AM That cloak is jaw-dropping amazing. Fantastic!
Mithadan Feb 14, 2008, 10:55 AM Holy Frick-knocking Insano-crazyness! :faint:
egroen Feb 14, 2008, 11:16 AM Wow! Thanks!!!
Stormrage Feb 14, 2008, 11:25 AM Wait.. wait.. the LOTM team didn`t know about these?
AncientOne Feb 14, 2008, 11:30 AM I don't think that's very likely.
Yeah.. that's why i hate these fantasy scenarios.. they create lot's of great units that can only be used in that genre ;)
egroen Feb 14, 2008, 11:30 AM I had requested them... but had no idea he had taken it and ran so far, and so well!
egroen Feb 14, 2008, 11:32 AM they create lot's of great units that can only be used in that genre
Short People Liberation Front?
Blue Monkey Feb 14, 2008, 11:34 AM :hmm: Did you do the worker & settler in another thread? Shouldn't they be here with these guys?
:mischief: :p
WildWeazel Feb 14, 2008, 11:52 AM :wow: Oh sweet awesomeness, Plot! Happy Valentine's Day to you too!
Chris85 Feb 14, 2008, 12:02 PM Wow . . . just Wow! :wow: You really raised the bar on this one Plot. The animations look so fluid, especially the cloak on the burglar.
Plotinus Feb 14, 2008, 01:22 PM :hmm: Did you do the worker & settler in another thread? Shouldn't they be here with these guys?
I didn't make a settler or worker, because Kinboat made an excellent Hobbit unit some time ago which has animations for both of those functions (all far better than I could ever have done). The LOTM guys are recolouring the different animations of that unit to turn it into several different ones (I believe). So the ones I made here are intended to complement that unit and also aaglo's Hobbit units and plug what I think are the biggest gaps in the unit line-up they've currently got for the Shire.
Happy Valentine's Day to you too!
Likewise! And I think it will be now that my better half and I have reached the end of the what-film-to-watch negotiations, the final settlement being Comedy rather than Romance. Luckily we have pretty similar tastes.
Deth McBones Feb 14, 2008, 01:41 PM Really cool units. I like the Outlaw's victory anim. Very Ninja-esque.
KingArthur Feb 14, 2008, 02:12 PM How cute - they must be squished!
Really excellent animations.
Blue Monkey Feb 14, 2008, 03:00 PM I didn't make a settler or worker, because Kinboat made an excellent Hobbit unit some time ago which has animations for both of those functions (all far better than I could ever have done). The LOTM guys are recolouring the different animations of that unit to turn it into several different ones (I believe). So the ones I made here are intended to complement that unit and also aaglo's Hobbit units and plug what I think are the biggest gaps in the unit line-up they've currently got for the Shire.I remembered those. I put the two smilies down low hoping you would get the humor - the joke being the frequent requests to you for very specific workers/settlers. I did not know about the LOTM recoloring project. I really look forward to playing the finished version of that mod.
Orthanc Feb 14, 2008, 08:07 PM Time you spent on the cloak was well spent, it's indeed a level of animation we haven't seen here before, and that bar certainly was not low to begin with. Bravo!
 One thumb for all, to save space:mischief:
W.i.n.t.e.r Feb 15, 2008, 05:28 AM one word: S W E E T !!!!
I cant really use them in epic game mode- but wth - Lovely stuff, Ploti :):goodjob: that burglar's hood is EXCEPTIONAL, btw !!!
themanuneed Feb 16, 2008, 04:28 PM Wow... :wow: I'm speechless... this cloak... :salute: we shall salute you, sir!
odintheking Feb 16, 2008, 04:43 PM Ay juey! These are great!
Hikaro Takayama Feb 16, 2008, 06:55 PM Thanks! Now I have something to use for the Taru-taru flavor unit lineup in the FF mod (Basically, I'm using the Spearman as a taru Shaman, the Outlaw as a Taru Mage, The Burglar as a taru Conjurer, and the mayor as a Taru Summoner), although I'm debating about whether or not to add magical attacks to their attack animations, since they are going to be more or less placeholder units....
Hrafnkell Feb 17, 2008, 07:26 AM I agree with everyone else. These units are great. Hate to be the last one to gives a thumb's up but it's been a busy couple weeks. Bravo, and yes, the cape animation is absolutely amazing. Hope your nerves recover!
Azmorg Feb 18, 2008, 09:38 PM Ok, this may fall into the "Doh!" category, but what is the difference, really, between an Archer and a Bowman?
Regardless, these units are superb.
BadKharma Feb 19, 2008, 03:10 AM Nice job on the hobbits a very interesting culture group ;)
Blue Monkey Feb 19, 2008, 06:14 AM Ok, this may fall into the "Doh!" category, but what is the difference, really, between an Archer and a Bowman?
Regardless, these units are superb.Archer leaves Spade behind to solve his murder whilst looking for a dark figurine of a bird, whereas Bowman survives the machinations of an AI only to succumb to the headgames of a vanished ET. :p
Bjornlo Feb 19, 2008, 06:39 AM Excellent work. I love the variety and such. The look is very hobbit like. The wavy cloak is a nice finishing touch.
Grandraem Mar 05, 2008, 09:30 PM :worship:
I am in awe of you, Plotinus. I can't think of anything to say here that hasn't already been said.
Absolutely beautiful units.:goodjob:
