Maybe its a African elephant instead of a Indian elephant.

Racism is not only human

Yes, it's a normal fractal map. I was a bit surprised when I saw this so figured I had to post it. :D

I would've settled there for sure. I decided not to play the map though. Ivory becomes useless at some point so I'm not too fond of them. Great early on though!

Heh, as soon as i saw the thread title I thought of that stupid "who let the dogs out" song. That's a crazy start though. I hope you take advantage of it by crushing your enemies with war elements.

Why oh why can I never get a start like that with, say, Gems?

Nice. My personal best is 7 elephants in a close area. I thought I had a few, but that's crazy.

Has anyone ever played as the Khmer and gotten elephants? But if you play against the Khmer they always have elephants.

Every time I play against Hannibal, his empire is just crawling with elephants! To bad I can't count on the Alps for protection.

I would have settled 1 tile north of that, to get some hills in there..

You'd lose one hill to the south though, as well as the fresh water.

Makes me kinda regret I never actually saved this map. It's lost for all time. :(

No point. For a large portion of the game, a camped ivory is equivalent to a hill -- except better because it's more food-oriented and gives a commerce. One tile NE of corn effectively has 10 hills in its radius! (Including the grassland hill at the bottom) It won't be saturated until size 13 -- 1 corn, 2 grassland farms, 1 grassland hill, 2 plains hills, 7 camped ivory... it wouldn't be until size 16 before you could even work that extra hill you want to get. But by the time you're size 16, watermills and workshops have started becoming good, so you wouldn't want the extra hill anyways! And in the end game, with all relevant technology and civics, flatland is superior to hills for production.
