so what was your best unit ever?

Mine has to be this tank that was eventualy upgraded to modern armor. It had 4 combat promotions & a comando promotion, i went in and stoll so many workers with that tank it wasnt funny.

Not that you really need those workers in the Modern Age.

My personal favourite were a couple of CombatI + Guerilla III + CR III - Rifles, i got when playing Boudica - Charismatic Rules... - upgraded all the way from my glorius Gallic Warriors... A CRIII Rifle with 50% chance to withdraw on top of it is just cool. I made two of them have 80% chance to withdraw by attaching a GG... Not that it mattered in that game - after some early war succes i had the production power to replace any losses... Still fun...

ya that was without a GG i just have the vanilla version, O workers come in handy in the modern age if you pillage the citys before you conqure them, but usaly you have a stack of 10 workers just sitting in the capital waiting to have some fun

An Axeman I had from some game long ago in Vanilla. Had itself over 100 points, with Combat V, many anti-unit promotions, probably CR3 in there as well...beefed itself up on continuous Aztec invasions. They invaded, I repel, get peace. They would attack again literally a turn or two after the 10-turn peace treaty expired every time. Of course, getting points got difficult after awhile, since they started attacking with more Medieval-era soldiers.

I had an Archer who kept beating stacks and stacks of Roman legions and chariots. He held them off long enough to get re-enforcements there and gained tons of combat points doing it. This archer was amazing.

a gunship promoted all the way from a chariot.
Had all possible cavalry promotions (combat 6, withdrawal chance 80%, 5-8 first strikes, blitz, commando, 3 medic promotions, mobility and sentry, ambush, pinch, and those anti melee and anti cavalry promos)
That thing could attack like 6 times per turn, and was almost invincible due to the first strikes and high strength (due to combat 6).
It could mow down stacks of enemy tanks

My stuff dies too much, I have no idea. Probably some combat IV pinch SEAL or something.

I've seen other people with some interesting privateers.

A Level 5 Artillery. Just got the experience taking down the neighboring civilization's cities and units (fun!). Promoted all the way from a catapult Lv. 2 that defended the northern border against barbarians. It defeated Calvary, axemen, and archers before it was promoted to cannon, when it then helped wipe out the Barbarian city that was sending the attacks.

I'm with vb1. A Combat 6 Drill IV Blitz gunship is *sick*.

When you can kill 6-7 units a turn by yourself, you're the best unit in the game.

On a vanilla game, I had a longbow that had over 100 xp. CG III, Guerilla II, Combat I, I can't remember what else. I have a screen shot lying around somewhere. If I can find it, I'll post it.

My favorite unit was a Privateer that had +4 movement from circumnavigating the world, navigation 2, and Morale from GG, as well as +50% from combat. It kept raiding Caravels but it could take down Ironclads.

It had all the Drill, Combat, Navigation, Sentry, and Flanking promotions. It also had the circumnavigation bonus. It was insane!!!

Keep in mind you can't give blitz to a gunship - you give it to the horsey unit and upgrade it to a gunship.

A Settler. You can always steal a worker, but you have to build a Settler. Other than OCCs, I've only had one game that we won without builiding a Settler.

Yeah when you're at war. You just point your unit to attack their worker and viola! You have just stolen their worker and enslaved him to yourself. ;)

I had absolutely no idea! Should have crossed my mind, though - every time I've captured a city with workers therein, I've found myself with extra workers. But I never gave it any thought at all. So I never bothered attacking workers, and just went straight for the jugular.

I don't let my units last too long. Probably a Drill 4, Cover, Shock Chukonu. That guy was so sweet since a easy Machinery rush left me with easy wins on melee my Drill 4 and Cover were just sweet.

There are a lot you can do with the worker. Beside the usual task of building road, improving the land, etc..., the worker can also lead troops into battle and help our troops to overcome enemy defensive position.

i once had a hernando cortez/night combo that had at least 10 promotions it was so crazy cool awsome. he had pretty much beaten a war for me.

I had one fighter in BtS 3.03 that was patroling the skies in a border city... My pal Cathy had made a ton of Paratroopers and decided to DoW me, dropping them near my city. In BtS 3.03 fighters could win Xp by intercepting paratroopers ( they don't in 3.13 )... let's say that that lonely plane intercepted so many paratroopers that he gained enough XP to exaust all possible promos :eek: No wonder they changed this in patch 3.13....

k another unit that i had was a calvilry that was upgraded from a chariot i had in a multiplayer game that won a 10% chance of victory, not withdraw win! then it had all the flanking promotions avalible and a terrain movement bonus i never knew was there after the flanking promotions.
If it survived longer i would then of done all the combat bonuses posible but it had the honor insted of capturing the last city, I was playing a team battle 3v3 and was on the front line, I single handedly took out the front line player next to me and made my way halfway through the back player when the i met up with my allie's armys on the last city,
It wasnt able to attack that city but in the same turn the AI made another city and it took the real last 1.
It helped me take over 3 citys and distroy a SOD sent by the back player

Best unit ever? That's hard to say, but I think Yakk's 100 strength warrior has got to be in the running.
