View Full Version : help me if you can with Prince redstone357 Feb 26, 2008, 04:37 PM I can beat noble almost everytime, but Prince is whipping me. I know you guys have all kinds of good tips, so if anyone would like to share a few with me to help me out that would be great. Thanks. Refar Feb 26, 2008, 05:29 PM Perhaps if you describe in some detail, how you approach a game, you would get more "customized" advice. Generic stuff... dunno... Specialize cities. Set strategic objectives and try to actually pursue those over the course of the game: just for example - if you decide to go to war, set a timeframe - like start in 15 turns. Then spend those 15 turns with actually building troops (everywhere)... My feeling is that trying to be "Jack of all trades" is the most severe problem when moving up from lower levels - it was for me. On noble i allways tried to get as many religions as possible, build a ton of wonders, have all top 5 cities to be my, have a vassal or two, just because it's cool... all in the same game :mischief: this hurts a lot on higher levels. Berkobob Feb 26, 2008, 06:34 PM Agree with the above poster. As a recent "graduate" from Prince difficulty, I found the one thing that helped me beat this level was learning to NOT build EVERY single building in EVERY single city, and have some of your cities constantly pumping military units to prevent an AI declaring war, or for your next offensive war (im a warmonger and I play with aggressive AI) OctavianFlu Feb 27, 2008, 11:48 AM I play comfortably on Emperor and I can say when I moved from Noble to Prince, as Refar, and Berkobob mentioned building every building in every city is not necessary. Building every wonder is not necessary. Founding a religion is not necessary (unless this is part of your winning strategy), but it does help. Knowing how buildings work are necessary. I find I am building cottages very early in the game, and I am assigning great people to libraries ASAP. This helps speed up research, but when I need to build troops, or a building fast I will take the specialists out and assign the citizen to a hill or whatever. But as what was previously mentioned -- we would need detail in order to comment on your playing style. CliftonBazaar Feb 28, 2008, 03:00 AM Specialists - run them and watch the difference they make. Also, goto war earlier - as soon as you have a small army then get into the enemies lands and harass them, even if you can't take over a city you need to harass them - while building an army to take them over. redstone357 Feb 28, 2008, 01:54 PM Ok thanks for all the good tips..here is a question in regard to these and I am sure there is a thread somewhere with this info, but if you can, could you explain just how to specialize a city...
