Hey guys, I'm a longtime Civ player (since the early days of Civ3, and since I've played Civ2 and 4 and loved them all), and naturally have gravitated to this site and forums. Now, here's my issue:

A while back, I realized I was hooked on Civ4, playing late on a school and work night (college), trying to take JUST ONE MORE city from Monty or the other poor suckers. So, as much as it hurt, I deleted Civ4 from my pc. Recently, after having free time and a knack for warmongering (:crazyeye: ), I tried re-installing Civ4. I left it on for a while after installing disc 2, and when I came back to the screen to start playing, my pc told me something along the lines of 'Error, XML/Gameinfo/.... error'.

I opened both 'My documents' and 'my computer' to track down the folder the notice says isn't there, and when I arrived I found a blank page. After a short brain storming session, I remembered I moved a copy of the 'my documents/.../etc.' to a folder on my desktop to save some space. I copied and pasted all the info from that folder directly back to the 'my computer/...' and 'my documents/...' addresses thinking it would fix the situation, but then I'm greeted with a message that says : "An error has occurred, please tell Microsoft about this problem."

I realize I messed up somewhere down the life, and I know I've come to the right place to get help. I've been to the control panel to delete civ4 from my comp., but everytime it tells me that setup.exe has committed an error. While I consider myself knowledgeable with windows, I've given up. Please help fellow civ lovers! Thanks in advance.

Have you check this with the tech support forum? http://forums.civfanatics.com/forumdisplay.php?f=159

Those guys over there are very good and I haven't heard of any problem that they couldn't solve.
