For many years now I have read many different science magazines. The problem is that they all contain articles that are unrealistic. Is there a magazine that just writes stuff that is nearly guarantied to be true.

View Full Version : Is there a science magazine for me? AL_DA_GREAT Feb 27, 2008, 05:29 AM For many years now I have read many different science magazines. Simple Simon Feb 27, 2008, 05:45 AM nope, there is no such magazine. Simply because 'we know it is true' doesn't sell well. Also, most issues are too complicated to be so clear-cut. What you are looking for can usually be found in books, though! They may not be fully up to date on all issues, but a good introductory book in most fields only includes stuff that is accepted theory. xienwolf Feb 27, 2008, 08:15 AM You could always go with a Peer-Reviewed Journal, but that might be a bit too technical or abstract for your tastes. Simple Simon Feb 27, 2008, 08:58 AM You could always go with a Peer-Reviewed Journal, but that might be a bit too technical or abstract for your tastes. and even there you will sometimes two clearly contradictive articles in one issue - most things that scientists look into are things that are not clear cut. I mean, what would be the purpose of investigating what is already well known? StarWorms Feb 27, 2008, 11:00 AM Science magazines are all about publishing new evidence. Try looking for review articles if you want an up to date factual view on something. I think Nature does one. I know I posted a link to a Nature Review article about gene therapy in the tidbits thread in this forum. Books are the best place to go first though, so long as they are up to date. If not, review articles are good and tend to provide more details anyway. nonconformist Feb 27, 2008, 11:19 AM For many years now I have read many different science magazines. For you, I'd suggest the Volkischer Beobachter. warpus Feb 27, 2008, 03:22 PM Scientific American is good.. AL_DA_GREAT Feb 28, 2008, 06:47 AM nope, there is no such magazine. Scientific American is good.. It is probably the best one. Simple Simon Feb 28, 2008, 01:12 PM It is probably the best one. which does not say too much, sadly.... |
