1. How much turns (in average, with all parts completed) does it take since we lunch the spaceship to its arrival in Alpha Centauri?

2. The Space Elevator says "max latitude of 30 degrees". I don't understand what does this means.

2. On a globe you must build the space elevator within 30 degrees north and south of the equator. In other words, close to the center of your map. (On an earth map, Europe would be too far north).

A fully outfitted ship will take 10 turns. Each missed propulsion part (Engine or Thruster) makes the time 2 turns longer. So a ship with the minimum of 1 Engine and one Thruster will take 20 Turns.

AFAIK The time scales with Epic and Marathon (X1.5 and X3)

Is there an easy way to see what latitude you're at on the map? i always have a hard time figureing out what my best-production city is w/in 30 degrees of the equator when I'm trying to produce the elevator; I end up just clicking my cities in order of highest production unitl I find one close enough to the center to build it... is there an easier way?

I guess that jungles occur only between the thirties.

I just switch to globe view (globe icon in lower right corner), and guesstimate where the middle 1/3 of the map is. :D

I guess that jungles occur only between the thirties. Too bad by the time the Space Elevator comes up, all native vegetation is long since chopped and forgotten :D

It depends a bit on the map script. With the default terrain generator used in many scripts, 30 degree latitude will be roughly in the middle of the desert belt.

I think that you'll find this (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=219294&highlight=latitude) useful...

Or you may bet that, if some city has sugar and/or bananas, it's suited for a Space Elevator. As everybody knows, Caribbean banana republics were the spearheads of the Space Age.

Hehehe, if you eat your spaceship for lunch, it will never arrive
