View Full Version : Quests
Lokolus Feb 29, 2008, 11:35 AM BTS has an interesting feature that is not really represented in RFC: Quests.
I suggest having a unique quest fo each civ, it will not effect the UHV but will improve gameplay, historical accuracy and will add a bonus for the civ who completes it.
Quests would be be something like this, Russia:
found 3 cities in Alaska, 2 in Kamchatka and 6 in Siberia.
An additional bonus will be granted if Russia built the Kremlin and another bonus if they founded Vladivostok and Murmansk.
The bonuses could have several benefits, from golden ages or units to cities or production bonuses.
Here is another example:
France is the first to discover Democracy, Liberalism and Medicine, this will trigger an event that will change France's civics, grant them unstabilty, a golden age and will give them a lot of units and a great general, similiar to the French revolution+Napoleonic wars
ADP101 Feb 29, 2008, 05:23 PM i like that idea lol its kinda like UVH but u dont win if u copletle it and u get rewards :)
Rex rgis of Ter Feb 29, 2008, 07:34 PM I like the ideas. Here are some more, assuming most will be about settling and teching, and that the AI will activley pursue them.
Greece
Quest 1 Discover Phliosophy and build 3 theaters and Odeans
Recieve 1 great scientest and 1 great Artist
Quest 2 Build the Olympic Stadium and have open borders with 10 civs
Recieve 300 gold and 1 great merchant
Egypt
Quest 1 Control Jerusalem and Northern Ethiopia
recieve Great General, Golden Age
Quest 2 Build 10 wonders in X years
Recieve 500 culture in all cities, golden age, 1 great engineer
Rome
Quest 1 Control Germany and France (Before civs spawn)
Recieve great artist (Tacitus) and 5 gallic warriors
Quest 2 Control Greece and Egypt
Recieve 10 food in all cities, forum in all cities, 5 modern nelee/gunpowder units
America
Quest 1 Capture all British colonies in NA

Quest 2 Half of civs have Free Market, Universal Suffrage, and Emancipation as their civics
Recieve 2 Great Merchants, Golden Age
Riker Feb 29, 2008, 08:30 PM There is no need for them, as long as normal quests are not fixed (at least one is not working, quite a delusion). Nice idea though
wilcoxchar Feb 29, 2008, 09:51 PM Another one for America.
Control 3 cities on the Pacific coast of North America, three cities in the Great Plains, and three cities on the Atlantic coast of North America.
Gain 3 settlers, +3 happiness in all cities.
Lokolus Mar 01, 2008, 12:57 AM Here are some more:
Greece
Control the seven wonders of the ancient world
Recieve 3 great people
Build an army of 10 phalanx, 5 spearman and 4 swordman.
Recieve a great general, 6 horseman and a fleet of galleys and triremes.
Portugal
Be the first to prove that the world is round
Recieve 3 settlers in 3 Carracks
Found Luanda, Macau, Mallaca and Elmina.
Every city gets a free Feitoria
King Coltrane Mar 01, 2008, 03:09 PM you know, i really like this idea. i hope someone does make a modmod with it. there are a ton of possibilities too, for every civ. and honestly, thats the one thing i dislike about RFC... when i accomplish the historical goals the game ends! actually, i do like this but still i would love to keep going with my empire AFTER i have completed the historical goals...
Carthage: control 2 cities in iberia -- receive a great general and 2 war elephants (hannibal)
China: Conquer west to Samarkhand by 700 AD -- get a golden age
have a fleet of 10 galleons and contact arabia by 1430 -- get a great merchant (zheng he) and +1 trade route per coastal city.
ADP101 Mar 02, 2008, 09:53 AM oo oo my turn lol
America:
Control a city that acts like a canal from the Atlantic to Pacific Ocean
get a great merchant and all coastal cities get +1 trade routes
Control Hawaii and Alaska by 1950
Gain +5 health in each city and gain 5 culture/turn in each city
Japan:
Be the first Asian civ to go into the industrial age
receive a great scientist and 5 battleships
Control 2 cities in the Philippians and 1 city in Hawaii by 1950
(Japanese American conflict for hawaii :crazyeye: )
Great Brittan:
Allow no foreign culture in the British isles by the year 1600
All cities get a 300 culture boost
Build a canal from the Mediterranean to the red sea (i think thats the right sea to the Indian ocean)
gain a great merchant and 500 gold
Śmarth Mar 03, 2008, 02:55 AM I think quests would step on the UHV goals' toes a bit too much. Come to think of it, do you think that's where Firaxis got the idea?
scu98rkr Mar 03, 2008, 05:51 AM I think this is a great idea one of the best suggested.
Would add alot more variety and replayability to the game
Wessel V1 Mar 03, 2008, 09:22 AM Japan:
Be the first Asian civ to go into the industrial age
receive a great scientist and 5 battleships
That would be cool!! Imagine battleships in viceroy in 1300
Nice ideas, would be great to have them in the mod. Here are some others :
Netherlands:
build 3 dikes -> Great Scientist / Engineer.
Sink 12 enemy Caravels / Galleons -> Receive a great General and 4 East Indiamen.

I support so long as the AI at least tries to go for them and they give historical and significant troop boosts like you said. Like Alexander the great, Napoleon etc.
Riker Mar 05, 2008, 07:51 PM Ukraine quest
1) Convince Rhye that is more important than Poland and that it should be in the game
2) Find a modder who will implement it along with other forum's suggestions
3) Realize that no one will do new civs nor civ specific quests
Reward: people will stop wasting good ideas

LOL!
As i said b4 these arent UVHs... AND ONE MAJOR THING IS UVH's should NOT be quests that would make u 2 strong when u are going for a UVH victory
blizzrd Mar 06, 2008, 05:09 PM Russia:
found 3 cities in Alaska, 2 in Kamchatka and 6 in Siberia.
An additional bonus will be granted if Russia built the Kremlin and another bonus if they founded Vladivostok and Murmansk.
At the time that Russian Alaska was sold to the United States, there were approximately 7,000 Russians in control of approximately 10,000 to 15,000 Aleut slaves (who worked to collect furs for them).
That doesn't seem like 3 cities worth in Alaska to me... not much more than a large fishing village in the tundra really.
kairob Mar 06, 2008, 06:52 PM But they did have ownership of it, the way that civ shows ownership is flawed beyond beliefe but Russia should still have a claim to Alaska...
Theodorick Mar 06, 2008, 09:04 PM Other than the fact that many of these suggestions give rewards that would destroy game balance nearly completely, I like the ideas! Just tone things down a bit. :D
Ginnungagap Mar 07, 2008, 02:56 PM Some nice ideas. :)
I will try to add some of those quests. :)
Lokolus Mar 07, 2008, 03:38 PM Spain:
Control Mayan lands and colonize the Philipines by 1700 AD
Recieve 1000 gold and 5 galleons
Babyonia:
Raze a holy city
Recieve a great engineer
kairob Mar 07, 2008, 03:44 PM Mongols;
Control Russia by 1300 ;)
