Not a request, more of a question.

Is there a Civilization IV map that accuratly mirrors the Europe map from Civilization II? i.e, with the Caspian sea included (all the way around, not just the Western coast)

Also with random Civilizations, not pre-determined!

Thanks!

Is very similar to how I remember it.

Welcome to CFC [party]! I think I could make it if I new how many plots and if you could find a resource map of the area!

Thank you for your swift reply!

Not quite sure of the size, perhaps medium/large? Obviously a flat world... I don't think the edge of America would be needed.

Also, I'm not terribly bothered about resources! Just as long as its mostly fair and the terrain matches that of the real Europe. I also wouldn't want pre-determined civilizations. I liked the randomness of Civ II in that respect!

Ok just as soon as Zebra 9 gets his map editor out or I get a new comp I'll make it!

The tricky part will be having to convert to the new square tile system (the old Civs used diamond-shaped plots). If you want to wait awhile, I have made a conversion of the European map from Civ III - not quite what you wanted, but I'm sure somebody will find it useful. It doesn't have resources yet, though (but if you want randomized resources it won't matter much). :)

Did I miss something important? Is there a way to randomize resources on a map that is made without resources?

*Slaps forehead* (if correct)

Yes. Open the map in a text editor and in the section between BeginMap and EndMap add:
Randomize Resources=true

Very useful for adding replayability and avoiding the headache of placing everything manually and be fair and or realistic at the same time.

I haven't had a lot of time lately but I think I can get back to work on it soon. But I would appreciate it if someone could give me a link to a European resource map and a terrain one.

Ok I've gotten the basic outline of the Map done so I'll post some screenshots for you to see next time I get on. Map dimensions 184 wide 160 high, Spain at the farthest points reaches 19 plots high!
