Well I guess that answers the question in my mind why I havnt seen any new units from you in awhile. That is an amazing pack of units you put together thank you so much for doing so. The second chapter looks great also. The difference between the weapons in that one looks well thought out also. you must have spent a lot of time on those textures amazing job bringing such accuracy to the different tribes.

Now Now, A howitzer causes to much collateral damage, and a bullet can injure an inocent bystandard. Even if you hit him-her a through-and-through can still kill another person. I prefer something more personal. Like duct taping him-her to a solid wooden chair and shattering every bone joint from the toes to the neck, avioding the ribbs (could punture a lung) and the spinal cord (want him-her to feel the glorious pain). this way you get your target with no collateral dammage. Steph's idea is nice and painful but over to soon I think.

BTW, I DO NOT seriusly recomend that somebody do this, I'm just upset like everyone els is.

Anyone have any idea how long it could take to fix this, non of the websites I visit have had this happen befor

It doesn't cause collateral damage if you hit his house dead on. You could also use a weak bullet. But it will also get the point across that you are definitely not taking any prisoners.

Perhaps a few dozen paintballs to the family jewels? Yes, I have been watching the TV series Jacka--

All artillery rounds explode, most at a specified hight from ground level to maximize the shrapnel affect. Any round that explodes will cause collateral damage, unless it explodes in a space that confines the explosion. I witnessed a barage once trust me.

But I like your idea with the paint balls Tank Guy, both painfull and not over to quickly.

But I'm not going to post anymore threads like this again. In our anger we have posted things that are counterproductive and take away from the spirit of this thread. I think it is time to move forward.

I made a thread about this here (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=265866), so please keep any discussion of this problem not directly related to Sandris' units there or in the Site Feedback thread that it links to. Then it's easier to know who needs help tracing backups of their units or whatever.

I have re-uploaded all of my current Native American units, so you can download them from the Downloads Database. :)

Don't make the same mistake again, to upload everything onto one single server (the Database server). When uploading it is always best to offer mirror links elsewhere...

Sandris
Mar 03, 2008, 04:43 AM
From now on, we'll be doing daily backup of all the site files, for both the forum site and main site, to make sure we don't have this kind of data loss again in the future.

If you are a modder, you can help us return things back to normal by checking your files in the Downloads Database and edit those files that have broken download link to re-upload the file.

So, don`t worry. :)

These are great!

There's some weird glitch in the apache flintlock's attack animation, when facing west. You see, there's no animation at all - just a big cyan square. I've no idea how that got to be like that.

Or am I the only one with this glitch?

EDIT:

Actually, the Apache attack anim doesn't have attack animation to N-direction. The N shows animation to NW, and NW shows animation to W - and W shows cyan box.

If you have any specific requests on new Mesoamerican and Native American units to be included in upcoming unit packs, you could post the pics and descriptions in this thread. :)

Very impressive..........I would like to see Native American horse units with a lance (spear) as well as with muskets. Then there would be flavor units to replace the horseman or knight and cavalry.

Sandris, this is totally out of hand! I was just thinking to myself this morning, "there are more Sandris native Americans coming..." and here they are, in glorious excess! :crazyeye: (And just last night I watched the ever-controversial Apocalypto and had a wonderfully fun time...)

I'm scanning some clear simple color images & B&W line drawings of Tlingit/Haida right now. I'll edit this post with them - hopefully in a couple of hours.

Edit:

Two Galleries (they're very large, hence the thumbnails) -

Top Row: Haida + 2 Kwakiutl
Middle Row: Nootka & a couple of related tribes (for the sake of some variations in the cedar bark garments
Bottom Row: Tlingit

Two rows of tribes living a little further south but still considered NW tribes. Maybe some ideas here for headdress variations or or early era units.

Some notes on colors

On all the Haida/Tlingit/Kwakiutl clothes I have seen (Southwestern/Gene Autry Museum, American Natural History Museum, Museum of the American Indian) the predominant decorative colors are red, black, & white. The white is often button/bead work - abalone, mother of pearl, etc. The woven basket hats are black & natural straw colored.
In the illustrations you will see some blue - this was a very rare dye color until contact with the Europeans. If indigo clothes were gained in trade they were often leeched of all their dye rather than worn. Those might be good places for civ color.

postscript: all the images are by David Rickman from the Dover Press "Northwest Coast Indians" coloring book.

Sandris! What can I say that someone has not yet said to your work? Great! I put your units as possible in my Mod!

Too true, at post #122 there's not much each left to say. I too, try and put as many of these into my mods as possible. In fact, I just made a flavored version of the epic game just to have a place to put them all (and Varwnos' 3D cities). Thank you so much for these Sandris!

EDIT: Since you asked, I'd love to see some Inuit (Eskimo) units. Really just any unit wearing warm fur clothes would do for my purposes, but I found you some inspiration (I have more if you want):

Sandris, what is the possibility you could also make a Native American army unit?

Well, it surely deserves to be made. What are your proposals on Warchief`s look ? :)

Almost any of the gunpowder units you already made would serve as a good Native American Army unit. Especially the Sioux, Pawnee or Choctaw. Instead of holding a flag like the stock army units do, maybe you could have him holding a lance with different colored feathers attached to it something along the lines of Kinboat's Roman Army.
The reason for my increased interest is a scenario I am working on that has Pirates, European, and Native American Indian civilizations.

Yes once I have everything fleshed out I will make a preview type thread. El Justo is proving to be an invaluable friend for bouncing ideas off of.
The more wonderful units that Sandris releases the more the unit lines are becoming filled in.

Pardon me for bumping a thread that hasn't seen some action in a while, but I would like to second this notion. Keep an eye on my own thread for more unit requests: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=292253

I'll post more later this week (hopefully tonight). I'm especially interested in getting units that are Eskimo, Northwest Coast, Athabaskan, or Aleut...and I expect that I'll be using some of Sandris' units in the mod I'm working on.
