well, obviously I am doing something wrong, and I've read through some tutitorials on how to manage stability, but this is the second time (outta 3 times playing) where my civilization descended into anarchy after I aquired Nationalism. The first time as Rome I had a big, powerful empire rolling right along with 2+ vassals and then all of a sudden my empire disentigrates and I'm stuck with 1 city and third from the bottom for a score... then I try to play as England, except this time I decide I'm not going to expand my empire because then these new cities will just flip when a dead civ comes back to life. Well...I get Nationalism and I'm stuck with just my capital again.....

Is there a way to play this mod with no stability? How do you turn it off, and barring that, how do you survive getting Nationalism?

hmm never used nationalism in RFC b4 idk wuts wrong.

But one MAIN thing in RFC if u turn off stability, the game turns into regular CivIV, its called rise and fall and w/o stability the fall part isnt possible. Idk much about stability tho so just wait for some1 who does to come along ;)

It's not Nationalism, it's probably your civics. If you get to Nationalism and you're still stuck with slavery, decentralization and everybody else has emancipation, you're bound to be unstable. (I use Nationalism all the time to get Olympic Park for a golden age, which makes you MORE stable)

I don't usually get Nationalism right away, so probably everybody else is using emancipation....I have yet to get a stability rating that is rising, even when I was Rome and beating up on everyone my stability rating was still dropping. I do Hereditary rule/vassalage/serfdom/Organised Religion as soon as possible and try and keep them till Nationalism. I'm trying to limit how many religions I have in cities and recently have been trying not to expand.

Now that Democracy comes really early (before Nationalism), I switch from HR/bureaucracy/slavery/OR or Pacifism/mercantilism
to representation/free speech/emancipation/free market or environmentalism ASAP and stay there for the rest of the game, even before I get Nationalism. I usually get either commonwealth (if I'm without vassals) which helps with no economic negatives from few trades.
