GarretSidzaka has his own thread about recovery of his files, but TF asked me to start one for the rest of us. If there is any modder who was affected by the hacking job done on March 2 who no longer has his/her files please post here so hopefully someone can supply them.

Anything after July 2007 is affected, before that the archive kept the files.

Original discussion thread is here (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=265861).

How can I verify if my uploads are safe while the upload link is disabled?

woodelf
Mar 05, 2008, 11:16 AM
Uploads are all gone. No verification needed. :(

So how/when can I put them back there?

woodelf
Mar 05, 2008, 11:47 AM
mediafire or the like for files and photobucket for images, that's where I host now. The upload service was a security issue...

if you go to the downloads area and click "upload a file" you can still upload to CFC. Not sure how reliable it is, as woodelf already said, MediaFire is great for files, and photobucket works great for images.

Yeah, thanks! I've already moved my scenario mod to mediafire. Looks pretty good! :D

Definitely still use the database, but files that used to go to uploads need external hosting.

Also, there's a lot of files that are from modders who have long since left the forums. Some enterprising forum reader should go through and see what's gone and then post it here.

Long since left will still be there. It's people who might have left recently that will be an issue.

And Dom Pedro volunteers to check through the database for 401s. ;)

Thanks for posting this thread, woodelf.

Everyone, let's use this thread to organize file restoration / re-uploads effort for Civ4 files.

If you have the files for some missing items, please upload them to this thread so we could edit the file entries and re-upload the files.

I re-uploaded all my files to DB.

What of files like mine where I host off-site? Are the DB links dead for them?

woodelf
Mar 06, 2008, 05:01 AM
I doubt they'd be dead, but checking should be easy. ;)

I was wondering if anyone had the upgradable buildings mod for bts. If someone could re-upload it, that would be great.

edit: actually its quite easy to make buildings upgradable. Just look at the way some national wonders require other buildings.

Thanks Ori. I have edited the entry to point to the version you uploaded:

I'll delete the file entry you made.

BTW, are these two versions the latest version?

both are dated 10/13/07 - which was the last update by dj_anion - so I believe they are current :)

Anyone has the Giant Earth Map?

I do and I will but cannot get at it from where I am at. 1st thing tomorrow.;)

I do have this zipfile containing missing scenarios for European Middle Ages mod, which I got from Ajica. (Relevant files already posted on the appropriate threads by Ajica and myself.)

EDIT: Also, I've got quite a few mods downloaded, so if any are missing I might have them.

Thanks JEELEN. I have fixed the earth map link using the version SHAWDOW_XIII uploaded in the thread. That one appears to be the latest 4.2 version.

Has anyone tried to create an xdrive account for these guys? It can be made public so all can download from it.... There maybe even a way to set it up so it automatically backs up a couple of times a day.

No, this time it's due to hardware problem. We are temporarily moved to a different server, as stated in the announcement (http://forums.civfanatics.com/announcement.php?f=19&a=506).

We are aware of the downloads issue and will fix the problem as soon as possible.

Download problem should be fixed now. I have also re-enabled uploads of forum attachments and downloads DB uploads. In a few days we will be moved back to the original server.

It's because the current "downloads" folder is from last night's daily backup.

You should re-upload them to make the links work immediately. Thanks.

Yes, I imagine somebody around here can. ;)

I have deliberately not done that because I don't want to mess with it before I do the next update, but since that might not be coming for some time, if anybody has the old version and would like to post it here, that is fine.
