View Full Version : NES World/Regional Maps
Chieftess Jul 06, 2002, 03:51 PM I asked PaleHorse about a topic like this, and he suggested posting one. So, here it is.
This thread is for any maps for use in NESs. (World maps, regional, fictional, etc.)
[Ask and you shall receive...stickied!]
das Jul 07, 2002, 11:32 AM The map i've been using everywhee. Unfortunately t's in GIF format, and you have to copy it, and paste in other "paint"
uknemesis Jul 13, 2002, 08:03 PM Well, anyone want the beginning of UKNES2, here you go:
http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads/uknesii.zip
This is in a bitmap format for easy use.
As for the American map, well, I think it's best you get your own, cause mine is a nightmare to update at the moment, it's still screwed even after I redid it.
Nemesis
The Troquelet Jul 13, 2002, 08:33 PM Well, here's a map I made, for a SUPERNES of 1190 AD (the Crusade Era) but I don't have time to finish it off right now. So I'm making it freeware :D
SKILORD Aug 08, 2002, 09:12 PM Mine for SNES5/UberNES I is somewhere here I'll also provide my mars and venus maps (Blank) if ne1 else likes making futuristic NESes or just wants 'em.

Magnus Aug 11, 2002, 09:08 PM That looks like a Diplomacy map!
(I can smell them a mile away hehe) :king:
Dexter Aug 12, 2002, 05:08 AM It is a diplomacy map, it says in the top corner on the key :D
Nice big map though, would be good if it was used with a NES :goodjob:
erez87 Aug 12, 2002, 09:26 AM i know it's a dip map, but it can be played as a very nice NES game...
Revolutionairy Aug 19, 2002, 08:18 AM is there the map that das did but with todays borders? I fancy having a go at doing a updated map for UKNES4

puglover Feb 10, 2003, 05:58 PM Does anyone have a map of North America? I want to have the Mexicans, Incas, Americans, British, Canadians, Plains Indians, Iroquios, and Sioux.
Jason The King Feb 10, 2003, 07:00 PM here is a link to my old civil war nes, which has a map where i drew provinces in it for a board-game nes. You can easily make it blank or redraw provinces.
http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=28623
puglover Feb 12, 2003, 01:43 PM Oh wow! Thanks! :D
puglover Feb 12, 2003, 01:58 PM *Stupid Question :crazyeye:* Can I use this in a NES? *Stupid Question :crazyeye:*
Jason The King Feb 12, 2003, 03:50 PM of course, lol
Jason
Jason The King Mar 02, 2003, 12:44 PM I, over the bored days I have had, have made up a collection of maps on my computer. I would love for one day some of these to be used in a NES, as some of them I am proud of :).
So I have put them all in a zip, and attached them here.
Some are made up maps, some a made up countries on world map, and some are a mixture. They are mostly named stjnes2b or a or something like that because when I made most of these it was when i was thinking of the next stjnes2.
They should all be in bmp format.
You may use any maps in a nes, all i desire is recognition "Map made by Jason the King" or something like that.
Hope they will come to some use:

SKILORD Mar 02, 2003, 05:27 PM Hey Jason, I started a new SNESA [SKILORD's NEverEnding Stories Apolyton] (Absolution) I used your blank world map.
It's gonna be a fun game, you should join it.
Here it is: http://www.apolyton.net/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=79179
puglover Mar 04, 2003, 09:56 PM I joined Apolyton just to join the NES! :)
SKILORD Mar 04, 2003, 10:36 PM Yeah, It'll be one hell of a game.
puglover Mar 05, 2003, 03:57 PM I was bored and decided to pick up making NES maps. Behold!
Partners Map!
Oruc Mar 06, 2003, 03:45 PM add some small islands it will make it better
puglover Mar 06, 2003, 09:53 PM How's this?
SKILORD Mar 06, 2003, 10:11 PM You should border them and make it bigger.
puglover Mar 06, 2003, 10:36 PM How about this?
erez87 Mar 07, 2003, 03:03 AM he ment border the islands...
china444 Mar 09, 2003, 11:04 AM Yes, pug, border the islands, plus, you should make rivers between the partners. Also make a center island with barbarians and Free tech nologies from huts. Make sure you can only open the huts with military units, because there may be hidden barbs!
ps If you start an NES from that map, save a spot for me! ;)
(we can be partners on the top left island.)
PLEEZE START THIS NES AND SAVE ME A SPOT FOR ME TO BE YOUR PARTNER!!
china444 Apr 25, 2003, 09:10 AM Jason- Check out my NOTW1 nes in here. Join it.
I used a map from your download
erez87 May 04, 2003, 02:35 PM Well a nice asian WW2 map I created.
Great for everyone who want to creat a story NES.
http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads4/WW2-asia.gif
And a World WW2 map (not very good cause I don't have many colors)
http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads4/WW2.gif
Finmaster May 04, 2003, 02:54 PM Erez, you seriously need to check the Scandinavian borders from yer WW2 history books. And also the borderlines of Finland and Russia were a lot different back in 1939 when compared to modern day.
erez87 May 05, 2003, 02:12 AM it's more 1936 that 39... so it's correct cause the winter war never took place
erez87 May 06, 2003, 12:39 PM Thats where I got the borders from...
naervod May 07, 2003, 07:09 PM ooo, Hearts of Iron, care to play sometime erez. Just PM me.
Sorry for the threadjacking. :)
To make this worth while, I will say that you guys can expect more HoI based maps in the near future.
erez87 May 12, 2003, 12:43 PM More maps!
Everyone can use this maps!
They are for board games, great board games...
I might someday will make 1 of them into a game myself..
Main map:
This is Roddy map with MANY changes that it could work for a WW2 period, and maybe even WW2 and maybe even future (who knows? I don't know the future... )
http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads4/please_read.gif
WW2 map:
Good map for a WW2 scenario.
Russia is yet to go into the Winter war with Finland.
But germany already took over Austria, and Checoslovakia became a german province instead of chekia to germany slovakia as puppet cause I dind't wanted poor little countries...
http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads4/pleaseread2.gif
EDIT just looked that germany need some fix but this maps are still great without the fix (fix for the long stupied looking areas...)
Finmaster May 12, 2003, 01:33 PM Well, it's better than Roddy's map... Altough there are still some funny borderlines that have never existed. Like Estonia, which is being divided by USSR and... whatever that brown country is, Lithuania :D
Still, this is the best European map available right now. If I made an all-European NES, this would be the map to use ;)
Plexus May 12, 2003, 07:29 PM Plexus got bored, this could make for an interesting game.
erez87 May 13, 2003, 11:30 AM My map seek have not ended yet...
This is a ww2 map, in 1941:
http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads4/WW2_year_1941.gif
Next to come! more WW2 maps, maybe even WW1, or matbe even more!
Plexus May 14, 2003, 10:40 PM Map of Northen Europe.
Plexus May 15, 2003, 01:15 AM I will begin taking map requests, so, if there are any regions you want mapped, post here or pm me. I will also do my "random" maps, if anyone wants them.

Jason The King Jun 12, 2003, 11:40 PM Plexus: I like those maps very much. Did you draw them as well?
Erez: The ww2 map is good, but I think it would be best if you had more north africa.
Jason The King Jun 12, 2003, 11:41 PM Also, Plexus, do you have a world map in that kinda format???
Plexus Jun 12, 2003, 11:42 PM Yeh, but I didn't really draw them, I have a process for converting maps. :)

stalin006 Jun 30, 2003, 10:29 AM yes it does fit perfectly for the new modern day nes of jason
stalin006 Jul 04, 2003, 09:39 PM edit
Jason The King Jul 04, 2003, 10:27 PM How was it edited? there is not edited date at the bottom?
Jason
stalin006 Jul 05, 2003, 08:31 AM i guess it was because i edited really fast, similar when u want to change the title of a thread, if you do it in less than 2-5 mins, it will change, otherwise it wont.

erez87 Jul 21, 2003, 02:17 PM Got bored so decided to post a new map.
Using Plexus europe map I created this map.
I'm not sure if it's Napoleon days, or befor, or a bit after, but myself, I don't realy care, it a good, and prey historical accurate map to some time...
http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads4/napoleonithink.gif
Jason The King Jul 21, 2003, 02:24 PM Pretty nice, erez. Really shows how strong Ottomon Empire was ;).
Jason
Jason The King Jul 21, 2003, 02:24 PM BTW, what is that light blue central european country? Ukraine?
erez87 Jul 21, 2003, 02:26 PM Jason, size of a country doesn't always mean it's power... look at tzarist russia, or china, they were huge but weak empires...
And turkey was still strong than, just was stoped and begun dying. also if it's napoleon days, france has the best army...
This map was made using EU2 :)
erez87 Jul 21, 2003, 02:27 PM Oh, the austria
Finmaster Jul 21, 2003, 03:05 PM That map definetly takes place before 1809, at least when you look at Scandinavia. But, looking at Prussia's size, it must have been very close to 1800's. My quess would be, that map dates very close to the year 1800.
erez87 Jul 21, 2003, 03:06 PM It is probably 1800...
EU2 napoleon capaign, or the revolution campaign...
Finmaster Jul 21, 2003, 03:11 PM waaaait wait wait....
No it's not.
Sweden lost Estonia to Russia back in 1721!!! :o
Jason The King Jul 24, 2003, 01:50 AM This is a map, edited from Troq's old one to represent much more of Euroasia. I did nothing but advise on the editing of this map, all work credit belongs to erez for his incredible hand at drawing. I am sure he would want me to post this :).
Also, it is being used in JNESXIV (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=59566).
Jason The King Aug 01, 2003, 04:03 PM Here is my Map Archive, version 1.0. It has many maps in it for those who are looking for it, in an organized fasion. Credits are in the info document.
Enjoy.

Plexus Aug 04, 2003, 06:45 PM Hmm... it looks like my Europe map has a worthy competitior. Well, I answer with a bigger one, with and without modern borders.

Plexus Aug 06, 2003, 03:46 AM Hehe, I love this map for some reason. :D
http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads5/plxfak.gif
erez87 Aug 06, 2003, 04:59 AM the europe and america are in the same size scale, right?
Plexus Aug 06, 2003, 12:05 PM Nope :(
Plexus Aug 06, 2003, 01:55 PM Alright, Erez helped me with this one.
While it is not to scale, it would make a kick ass colonization nes.
http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads5/plxeuramb.gif
Plexus Aug 06, 2003, 02:35 PM And now without borders:

Jason The King Aug 08, 2003, 12:47 AM Plexus, could u make a euro-american-African map that is very large?
Plexus Aug 08, 2003, 02:56 PM yes, but it would be a pain in the ass...
Azale Aug 08, 2003, 04:36 PM
SKILORD Aug 15, 2003, 07:59 PM I like this world map, so I added most of the islands that we all want.
Corsica
Sardinia
Crete
Cyprus
Malta
The Antilles
The Bahamas
The Galapagos
Tasmania
All are copied pasted (Bahamas and Antillies I kinda copied and pasted piece by piece) except for Tasmania. Noone has ever tried to add Tasmania before.

naervod Aug 15, 2003, 10:03 PM Looks good, I will definitely use this for my next story NES.

 , hey plexus, who's the little light purple civ nestled in between the ottoman empire and hungary
Plexus Aug 17, 2003, 03:12 PM That would be Bosnia. :)
erez87 Aug 24, 2003, 09:47 AM I took skilord map and edited the islands to be larger (easer to see and edit) and added important rivers in history.
Anyone think I missed some important rivers or somthing?
http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads5/SKILORDMAPPAv1_edit_by_erez.gif
Finmaster Aug 24, 2003, 10:17 AM Erez, I think you should have some more European rivers... like Tonava, and maybe Seine. Also, having some rivers in Siberia (like Lena and Ob) wouldn't hurt. Other than that, it's very nice! :)
erez87 Aug 24, 2003, 10:27 AM Finmaster, does any of thos riverers important in history?
Because adding all rivers in the world will make a white map as I can't make the river size small enough... thats why I'm adding only important rivers in history and today world.
Anyone know if I missed any important river exapt the Jurdan river? (with Cineret and the dead sea..) ?
.:KNAS:. Aug 24, 2003, 10:28 AM Perhaps you could just make smaller rivers like thin white lines instead...
Finmaster Aug 24, 2003, 10:52 AM Yes, I agree with KNAS.
Also, Seine and Tonava are very important rivers in European history. Many old important cities have been build along Tonava, and it is easily the most famous river in Europe. I think it's also the longest. If there is one river that is historically significant then it's Tonava.
Seine might not be that important. But since Paris is located along it, I figured it wouldn't be the least important river either.
In Siberia, there is plenty of room for at least one or two rivers even with the thick lines. There hasn't been lots of fighting along these river, but Ob and Lena are still very famous rivers and I suppose that they have some historical significance when talking about the 18th century Russian expansion to Siberia.
erez87 Aug 24, 2003, 10:58 AM KNAS with your idea, what if the river is the borders? should I just delete it? if I won't it will look like the two countries are at war and somone took some lands from the other...
And KNAS where is this Tonava? as my importance ideas are for rivers that are both known and important not for city building for for example like with thr Rheine... that was in the peace of ww1 as the start of the DMZ areas... or The revier between today north korea and russia wich represent their borders (and yes, when the river change it's movment the borders changes to lol, and it did happand many times....)
Or the Nile, wich is the river that made a reason for egypt to live lol... and the 2 rivers above Georgia are important as in this days there is a canal where they are closest to each other with make ships be able to move from caspian sea to black ea =-o.
Jason The King Aug 24, 2003, 01:57 PM Ok, I have edited Erez's editied version of Skilord's map, lol. I have added a number of rivers, and I have made them much skinnier. I also moved the Mississippi east where it should be, fixed the amazon, and edited all the rivers to make them a bit more accurate (namely the Nile, which is my the river i am most proud of :)). I didn't add another one in Mainland europe due to the fact it would make it too crowded to play on.
Here it is:
Jason The King Aug 24, 2003, 02:03 PM I edited it some, so if you have already seen it, refresh your page
Jason The King Aug 24, 2003, 02:14 PM Here is another version:
naervod Aug 24, 2003, 02:22 PM I would suggest the following rivers: Seine, Danube, Congo. The Seine starts in Normandy, flows through Paris and continues into Central France. The Congo starts on the West African coast between Angola and Congo, flows in an arch through Congo and into Mozambique. The Danube flows through much of Central Europe, just north of the Balkans. If I can, I will add those rivers to the map, but I might not have time. Overall, a good job adding rivers.
Jason The King Aug 24, 2003, 03:17 PM I thought about adding the Danube, but then decided against it. The Seine is absolutly out of the question, it would make france look like an Island. You have to remember, this is a map we will play on too, lol. Too many rivers will make it look wierd. The Congo river was just to plain hard to see and draw on from my atlas, plus it would sort of get too close to nile, lol.
Plexus Aug 24, 2003, 03:31 PM 'ere is my Europe map with rivers. :)
http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads5/plxeur2nbr1.gif
Jason The King Aug 24, 2003, 03:32 PM very nice plex :)
Jason The King Aug 24, 2003, 03:35 PM btw, u think it is smart to leave britain riverless? Also, Scandinavia has many rivers from the mountains that go across sweden to the baltic.
Im not sure about Spain.
naervod Aug 24, 2003, 03:38 PM Jason- You could make the rivers smaller than that, like white or blue lines, but I see your popint. I will try and draw my own river map.
Plexus- I think you should at least add the Seine and the Thames to a map of rivers in Europe. Other than than, it is excellent.
Plexus Aug 24, 2003, 03:59 PM @Naervod: Siene and Thames added. :)
Plexus Aug 24, 2003, 04:04 PM New! And Improved! America with Rivers!

naervod Aug 24, 2003, 04:08 PM Excellent Plexus. I will be posting historical map ideas for NESes here later this week that I might use should one of my two current NESes die (one at 'Poly) that anyone can use.
erez87 Aug 25, 2003, 05:16 PM anyone who want an accurate map with historical borders.
give me a starting map (doesn't matter how it's look) choose a map that have been created in here, and I will make the borders in the map you chosed.
Just like my 1900 and 1920 maps, and the 1939-1941 3 maps...
Jason The King Aug 26, 2003, 02:31 AM My Latest Map:
Jason The King Aug 26, 2003, 02:38 AM Obvious Additions:
*I cleared up the Arctic sea! I added all the islands north of canada, and svalbard, and the islands north of Russia.
*I remade some islands in the Pacific, and added a whole lot more. All islands are placed where real ones are, but positions of all might be off a bit.
*Tasmania was remade.
*Added Canary Islands
*Added many islands in Indonesia
*Added islands throughout the map.
*All islands are where they should be.
*Sparta and Greece are seperated
Expected in next update:
Anatarctica to be open
Other major river in China
Danube added to Europe
Denmark broken
Some small islands on the coast of Norway
Siberian Rivers
erez87 Aug 26, 2003, 02:45 AM Jason
Sparta and the rest of greece are not broke a part.. just the land betweeb them is much smaller (after all, why building a canal in later ages??)
Denemark is not broken from europe (but it does has many more more islands..) it's not broken until germany build the kiel canal atleast...
Plexus Aug 26, 2003, 02:58 AM Suggested changes/additions:
Hawaii does not look like that
Add Socotra
Add Andamans
Add Nicobars
Add islands off the coast of California'
Add British Islands
:)
Azale Aug 26, 2003, 08:06 AM islands off the coast of California? You cant even see them on a map of the world
and, jason added the British islands :hmm:
Jason The King Aug 26, 2003, 11:48 AM he means the small english channel islands and the northern ones.
I dont think I will add the islands off the coast of California, they are small and unneeded.
Yes, I meant the islands of Denmark.
And yes, Sparta is a peninsula, and only connected to Greece by a small isthmus.
RoddyVR Aug 27, 2003, 03:17 PM this is the map i made and am using in Rnes3. its easy to change around the land/sea cause you just fill the hexes you want to be land with white (and blue for sea). you could even make mountain (brown) and forest (green) hexes if you wanted......
anyway, just thought i'd put it here cause it took so long to make...
http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads5/HexMap.GIF
Jason The King Aug 28, 2003, 03:41 AM Ok. here is version 2.
What I did:
*Changed Mississippi river, more realistic, and in doing so made the Ohio R, Tennesse R, Missouri R, and the Arkansas R.
*Added some Canadian lakes
*The Amazon was fixed.
*Made Parana R.
*Made Congo Basin Rivers
*Added Denmark Islands
*Added Danube R
*Added Tagus R.
*Added Ob and Iyrtish rivers (siberia)
*Fixed the Ganges
*Added the Indus
*Added Amur
*Added Nicobar and Andaman Islands
*Added Socotra
I think that's it. Enjoy :).
Oruc Aug 28, 2003, 03:47 AM u should add the niger river in africa
Jason The King Aug 28, 2003, 11:32 AM don't u think the rivers are overcrowding the map??
I was plannin on adding the yellow and niger river, but it might look too crowded.
Jason The King Aug 28, 2003, 11:37 AM nothing to see here.
naervod Aug 28, 2003, 04:12 PM Map is fine, I think more rivers would be overcrowding it. By the way, expect to see this in my upcoming story NES.
puglover Sep 03, 2003, 04:39 PM I'm wondering if anyone would use a sattelite photo as a nes map.
.:KNAS:. Sep 05, 2003, 11:04 AM Could be hard to draw borders, but it would be interesting...
Oruc Sep 13, 2003, 11:30 AM its a map of 1617

Jason The King Sep 14, 2003, 01:54 AM Emu, congrats on awesome map, dude. Really good map. Makes me want to start a game up with it, lol
Plexus Sep 14, 2003, 02:19 AM Very, very, very nice Emu! I would love to know your method.
Jason The King Sep 14, 2003, 12:11 PM Can you believe how many changes we have made to this map:
http://www.diplom.org/Online/maps/20th-small.gif
To a map like this:
naervod Sep 14, 2003, 01:13 PM It's crazy, but it's great how far we have come with this. I will be making a historical map when I am done looking at my NESes
Oruc Sep 15, 2003, 01:15 AM YAY!!! people like my map, but i dont know what u mean by my method?
Plexus Sep 15, 2003, 03:14 AM how'd you make it?
Sheep Sep 15, 2003, 04:16 AM Duh
erez87 Sep 15, 2003, 12:50 PM Emu thx for the map!
I edited it and I'm preapering to make a nes.
Thats the edited map:
(Added more Indian civs, made Borders in Areas a bit diffrent, Added Brittany (as it was still existing for some time...) Added more Italian and Germany country. Added Tattars as a country. And I belive thats it...
http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads5/emus_colonization_erez.gif
china444 Sep 15, 2003, 01:17 PM You know how people open all those 'Alternate History' and what If NES'es? Well, i had an idea. Instead of What if one great empire stayed alive....why not all of them? ;) This map has some of the great Empires of all time...all existing with each other....in 2003 AD.
Nations:
Red- Rome
Dark Red- Iroqious
Tan- Sioux
Bright green- Ottomans
Pale Blue- Mali
Orange- Zulu
Purple- Vikings
Yellow- France(napolean years)
Dark Blue- Mongolia
Dark Pink- Philipino
Light Pink- Indochina...once was very powerful.
Sky Blue- Xin. A former clan of China that was killed...
Dark Green- Aztecs
Green- Incas
Sickly/Pale Green- England (they were powerful empire when they had india/australia/part of south america/part of africa
See? Wouldnt it be weird if the Mongolians and Vikings fought? Thats what this map is all about. This could be a fun 'What if' NES.
china444 Sep 15, 2003, 01:19 PM http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads5/GreatEmp2.GIF
Oruc Sep 15, 2003, 04:17 PM Plexus i used paint like everyone else ( also a history book and Europa Universalis2 )
erez i can see 3 mistakes in that map. Britannys independence was lost by then, Mahrattis werent that big in 1617 because the Mughals only started its decline in 1739, i think u added another tibet just wondering what it is really meant to be called.
but i like your map it creates more competion in europe and asia
erez87 Sep 16, 2003, 01:26 AM Emu, I took the map in "Age of Marchenlism" and Brest is there... After all, My thos times maps based on EU2... and I needed another country in India, after all it was conquered not settled... and oops about tibet... just that your tibet doesn't control tibet like China Xin doesn't control Xin ;)
Oruc Sep 16, 2003, 08:22 AM well according to my history book ( and EU2, i have patch 1.07 we must have different patchs) britanny lost independence in 1491 and my map was set in 1617 so i guess yours is different a time?
i thought my tibet was wrong but i couldnt be bothered to start changing it all, we could rename one of them the Chagitai (SP) horde
china444 Sep 16, 2003, 01:36 PM Any comments on my map?
Oruc Sep 16, 2003, 03:02 PM because china asked so nicely
http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads5/emus_edit.gif
Oruc Sep 16, 2003, 03:06 PM Unlabel nations are USA, British Empire, Vikings, French empire Ottoman Empire and Roman Empire
i left brazil open, because i didnt want incas to get it all.
china444 Sep 16, 2003, 03:10 PM Nice remake! :)
a_dead_rat Sep 17, 2003, 06:23 PM http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads5/imperial2.gif
amirsan Sep 17, 2003, 07:02 PM Emu, u should start another nes I loved your last one :).
Jason The King Sep 17, 2003, 10:58 PM congrats to all who made these maps, they look great.
erez87 Sep 18, 2003, 03:33 AM a_dead_rat, you see that map? Jason was wrong, all the maps got in the end from the map you now brought...Belive me I know, I emptied that map to white and made the islands bigger for the first time in that map...

Just a few things I need to point out. Britain should have Canada, and you should add the 13 American Colonies as one of the Empires.

a_dead_rat Sep 20, 2003, 08:48 AM Erez's 1920 map, edited for 1939.
Good for a WW2 NES.
http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads5/1939_NES1.GIF
erez87 Sep 20, 2003, 08:56 AM Ehtipia should be Italian ;)
a_dead_rat Sep 20, 2003, 10:44 AM I might use this for my next NES once the forum-switchie thingy is fixed. And erez, Ethiopia is Italian.
erez87 Sep 20, 2003, 10:46 AM You shouldn't do this NES for 1 reason, Kamilian will take Poland :lo: and you will must make the conquest of Poland harder cause it will be a player country, and will still have like 30 NPC to control, I don't sugest doing this NES...
amirsan Sep 20, 2003, 10:48 AM I agree, start a nes from the beggining with simple rules and some varients, I will join.
a_dead_rat Sep 20, 2003, 10:48 AM It was just a suggestion. I will not be starting an NES until a lot of these new ones die. And it will probably be a normal story NES.
Plexus Sep 25, 2003, 03:16 AM Colonization II: Now with Africa, Middle East and South America!

No rivers or borders as I am lasy, and it is late and I still have a Prohib2 update to do... ;)
Jason The King Sep 25, 2003, 09:12 AM *sigh*
Just a bit too late.
Good job, plexus! Waiting for you to launch yours.
naervod Sep 25, 2003, 11:40 AM If you don't launch it I will Plexus, I will. ;)
Plexus Sep 25, 2003, 04:38 PM Don't worry, I'll launch it one of these days...
Warman17 Sep 26, 2003, 02:02 PM A what if scenario. What if Rome was around till modern times AND many other things in time were changed. Just a map i made while i was bored lol
Jason The King Sep 26, 2003, 04:29 PM Looking good.
Plexus Sep 26, 2003, 08:59 PM Anyone need any maps made? I would be happy to do them if I have the right stuff for it.
china444 Sep 27, 2003, 08:52 AM Warman, that kinda looks like the same idea as mine.
Good work though! :)
aaminion00 Sep 27, 2003, 12:20 PM Originally posted by Plexus

I would like a map of Japan please!
aaminion00 Sep 27, 2003, 12:24 PM and don't make it too small, I'd like something about the size of your European map, albeit a bit smaller. If you can do it?
Plexus Sep 27, 2003, 03:36 PM How's this?
http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads5/plxaaminjpn2map.gif
Jason The King Sep 27, 2003, 03:41 PM Nice, but cant u get the rest of Hokkaido?
Plexus Sep 27, 2003, 03:52 PM It would be unnecessary in a Shogun NES.
aaminion00 Sep 27, 2003, 04:59 PM Thank's! That's perfect! :goodjob:
Jason The King Sep 27, 2003, 06:02 PM A half finished product of boredom:

Finmaster Sep 29, 2003, 12:43 PM This is the gif version of my 1815 map which I will be using in my soon-starting 1815 NES (which I will most likely start within the next hour or two). It is almost historically accurate, except that in real life there were a few more italian and german states and the empires in the coast of africa didn't hold any territories in the Sahara desert.
http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads5/stfmnes3credits1.gif
Oruc Sep 29, 2003, 12:57 PM Austria is badly ****ed up
Finmaster Sep 29, 2003, 01:19 PM U think so? it might be, it was kinda hard drawing the borders on a blank map. Netherlands is also ****ed up but it's corrected in the NES... I think I'll correct Netherlands here too
EDIT: Netherlands corrected. Unfortunately I don't have good maps of Austria dating back to that time :(
aaminion00 Oct 02, 2003, 10:28 PM Well, as a Bosnian, I can tell you right away the Bosnia is way too big.
Azale Oct 03, 2003, 06:42 AM thats montenegro, and how in the world can it be too big?
Oruc Oct 03, 2003, 11:48 AM because montenegro was tiny, but i think Aaminion means the ottoman terrioty of bosnia is too big
Plexus Oct 03, 2003, 06:11 PM Biggest and most extensive map of the world ever seen in the NES community!
Areas not included:
-'istan' area
-far north
See next page.
Ph3Ar M3E!!!!!111!! ;)
Jason The King Oct 03, 2003, 09:46 PM Definetly impressive to say the least.
A few suggestions:
1.) Resize America, it looks too small.
2.) REsiz Europe to a bit smaller, but not to be realistic, just so u can fit more.
naervod Oct 03, 2003, 10:11 PM Hmmmm, CoNANES here we come!
Jason The King Oct 03, 2003, 10:50 PM Oh, and the south america and africa bits are too close, its really bothering me :).
aaminion00 Oct 03, 2003, 10:58 PM Originally posted by Azale

Bosnia is that triangle sticking out on the Westernmost fringe of Ottoman Europe. It's somewhere between 150%-250% of what it should be.
And Plexus, beutiful map but... I kind of figured it would go to the right instead of to the left :(
a_dead_rat Oct 03, 2003, 11:04 PM The Pacific Ocean is WAY too small. It's a lot bigger than that IRL.
Plexus Oct 04, 2003, 12:17 AM On the oceans:
Do you guys want a huge file?
Jason The King Oct 04, 2003, 12:33 AM sure.;).
naervod Oct 04, 2003, 12:39 AM I wouldn't mind a big file. I don't know about Thunderfall though.
This is fine I guess.
Plexus Oct 04, 2003, 12:41 AM Fine then. Updated
Plexus Oct 04, 2003, 12:43 AM http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads5/plxwrldv3nrnbmap.gif

Plexus Oct 04, 2003, 12:47 AM 72k, and that is just 3 colors...
Jason The King Oct 04, 2003, 01:10 AM Way cool, plexus.
Plexus Oct 04, 2003, 01:41 AM Updated Again. Added -stan area and more Pacific islands.
Jason The King Oct 04, 2003, 01:52 AM how about some indian ocean islands?
Plexus Oct 04, 2003, 04:31 AM You'd like that, wouldn't you?!?
Maybe tomorrow.

Maybe the Ottoman Empire does extend a bit too north in the map, but (looking at my 1815 maps) no more than a couble millimeters.
aaminion00 Oct 04, 2003, 10:10 AM to be honest, the boundaries of Bosnia have been pretty much the same since the 15th century.

aaminion00 Oct 04, 2003, 12:07 PM My tweaks to Plexus's amazing map.
erez87 Oct 04, 2003, 12:21 PM missing many islands in the indian oceran but VERY GOODPlexus, now add antarctica and north world and thats it, my dream will come true.
ON AND ADD MORE ASIA! case AA map miss a lot between persia and India.
aaminion00 Oct 04, 2003, 05:09 PM what are you talking about, there is no land missing in between persia and india.
Finmaster Oct 04, 2003, 05:13 PM Originally posted by aaminion00

Jason The King Oct 04, 2003, 05:27 PM Best map ever, plexus.
And there does seem to be a bit of land missing in between india and persia... just looks a little small....
erez87 Oct 04, 2003, 05:39 PM I found the gap... Europe and Asia sizes, well their not corect... Caspian sea should be realy much biiger and more north acording to Asia sizes... while to europe it's fine...
Plexus Oct 04, 2003, 08:53 PM Well, after a few hours of work, this is what I have:
There are a few problems in this which will be very hard to address, but I'll get to them eventually.
BTW: Any ideas on how to include Antarctica?
*Updated Version Below*
aaminion00 Oct 04, 2003, 08:58 PM
Can I use it for my next nes? Can I, Can I, Can I?!?
Plexus Oct 04, 2003, 09:40 PM Feel free.
naervod Oct 04, 2003, 09:44 PM Hmmm, only one suggestion:
Add rivers, then it will be THE perfect map. In my view it has already set a new standard for NES maps.
Jason The King Oct 04, 2003, 11:28 PM looks the best map yet.
A few pointers:
Is it curved? trying to imitate a globe? I don't like that, as you cant draw a straight line for the US, etc.
Also, comparing africa to asia, africa is extremely large.
Other then that, the map is very very very very good!
Jason
Plexus Oct 04, 2003, 11:37 PM Well, because I am trying to deal with a globe, some areas may appear curved.
aaminion00 Oct 10, 2003, 09:20 PM Green Version of Plexus's Map
Jason The King Oct 10, 2003, 11:47 PM looks nice, you should make terrain-like things on it to show the different terrain :).
amirsan Oct 11, 2003, 09:35 AM yeah, but then how will you show the territories of each nation???
Maybe you can adjust the shadowing in certain areas to make some pop out as if they are mountains and hills.
Jason The King Oct 11, 2003, 11:07 AM that would be sooooo cool!
aaminion00 Oct 12, 2003, 08:59 AM I'll try adding desert and rivers sometime this week.
a_dead_rat Oct 13, 2003, 10:10 PM Here's an idea: a 2-player NES.

erez87 Oct 14, 2003, 05:49 PM http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads5/ERnes_No_Quite.png
It's Jason's map, just with better look. It saved as a PNG file, better looking and more colors than gif's...
Everyone are welcome to use this map inluding the many colors to it's side ;)
erez87 Oct 15, 2003, 06:43 AM Just as a side note... You CAN'T edit PNG with paint and can't save with Paint PNG's... I have a good software :)
Plexus Oct 15, 2003, 06:10 PM New Version on Next Page.
amirsan Oct 15, 2003, 06:17 PM Wow, u are sooo skilled Plexus!!! I bow to you and your skill. I can draw good, but not on PC :(. How did u get the skill?
Plexus Oct 15, 2003, 06:24 PM Well, I use a variety of methods to draw my maps.
All of my real world maps are based on Microsoft Encarta. I use Photoshop to draw the landmasses.
amirsan Oct 15, 2003, 06:26 PM Ahhhh, they are still so cool. ;)
a_dead_rat Oct 15, 2003, 06:43 PM An idea for stAMNES3. Storyline coming tonight.
a_dead_rat Oct 15, 2003, 06:54 PM The Map:
erez87 Oct 15, 2003, 07:00 PM Hmm if Germany won, why there is a Russia? and why Germany control parts of Aafrica? They DON'T want Africa... they wanted Wetsern Russia.
And why there is an India? If you didn't knew Japan wanted it ALL, ALL of Asia and everything they could take...
Plexus Oct 15, 2003, 07:18 PM @Erez- Germany controlled a large portion of Africa before WWI and WWII.
erez87 Oct 15, 2003, 07:21 PM I know, he said what if germany won WW2 not 1.
amirsan Oct 15, 2003, 07:32 PM Sounds interesting a_dead_rat, very interesting...
Spacetrvler Oct 15, 2003, 08:59 PM I would just like to say that Plexus should be elevated to demi-god for his mapmaking abilities.
a_dead_rat Oct 15, 2003, 10:13 PM Storyline:
1928:
Franklin D. Roosevelt defeats Herbert Hoover for U.S. President.
1932:
Due to the great depression, Franklin D. Roosevelt loses to Hoover for President. Until 1944, all U.S. presidents elected are Republicans.
World War 2 continues as it did historically until 1941.
January 11, 1941:
Operation Sea Lion, the invasion of England, is launched.
February 2:
Groundhog Day Peace is signed. Germany and Italy gain colonies in Africa.
February 10:
Afraid of the Axis, Arabian nations unite with Iraq and Syria to form the Arab Alliance. They are a fundementalist government that immediatley impose ridiculous taxes on all non-Muslims.
June 21:
Germany invades the Soviet Union.
March 26, 1942:
With no foreign aid, the Soviet Union collapses. It is split into a fascist German-controlled Russia, and a communist Soviet States of Siberia(SSS).
September 22, 1942:
The Empire of Japan surprise attacks Darwin, Australia.
October 1, 1942:
Australia allies with India and China to form the Pacific-Indian Alliance.
April 3, 1945:
The Great Pacific War, after having dragged on for almost three years, has a turning point. The United States, under Harry S. Truman, declare war on Japan.
April 30, 1945:
Japan signs peace. China, having been completely conquered, becomes a permanent ally of Japan. Australia secedes the Northern part of Australia. India and the United States go to pre-war borders.
June 4, 1947:
Constant rebellions in German-occupied Europe cause Germany to liberate its occupied territory. Germany, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Croatia, Serbia, Romania, Bulgaria, Greece, and China become NGIA(Nazi German Imperial Alliance, kind of like the UN).
December 25, 1947:
Democratic rebels invade France. They have a ton of public support, and a very strong army. NGIA is presented with its first real challenge.
This NES should start January 1, 1948.
