Just tried a new thing for me. A game-start in the modern world. I'm not entirely convinced I like it.

But I do have to say that it is most excellent for national park placements with loads of trees. I also have to say that it has the oddest concatenation of words I thought I'd never hear, Tank Rush.

Where else can you focus on getting early oil in your BFC and then rushing your poor innocent neighbor with your TANKS!!!!!

So I actually have a serious question. Do people in general avoid the advanced starts or is it worth discussing strategy for them? I know I've spent years on this franchise, and I'm only trying them. So clearly I'm not a real big fan. But it is a bit interesting, if only because its different, so I'm curious. Anyone else try this sort of thing?

Anyhow, if nothing else the term Tank Rush did one other thing . . .

. . . it made ya look!

see gmajor 21. It's a modern start conquest gauntlet in which everybody tank rushed.

I've played quite a few late era starts, mostly in MP though (where later starts are fairly common). Future OCC in MP is my favourite late era start. A map script that gives massive amounts of resources around each capital is a must so everyone can build advanced units otherwise OCC'ing it is kinda lame.
