View Full Version : Forbiden palace on the other side of the world
Tassadar Jul 07, 2002, 04:20 PM This game was play on regular map( continent) against 1 a.i. on regent. Both of us were on a huge continent.
In medieval time with caravel and explorer i found a new inexplored continent with 3 new luxuries. i was able to built 3 city near those lux. and another inland one on a river which i plan to rush built temple+courthouse+marketplace and Then the Forbiden palace.
This city give me only 1 shiled as you know but by increasing city size to 7 and connected to 5 luxuries i got a WLKD under democraty with a golden age trigger by newton college( as a german). This city give me with appopriate irrigation, minning and railroad 14 shield out of 32. This allow me to built a second core city far from my native continent in a very reasonable amount of time. I won the space race easily, but i could have crush a.i. well before.
Tassadar Jul 07, 2002, 04:27 PM This post is especialy for those who said far away city are usless or produce only 1 shiled. It is not true. A WLKD is a major shield boost for far away city.
Baron Scot Jul 07, 2002, 08:35 PM what in the world is WLDK?:crazyeye:
Fr8monkey Jul 07, 2002, 08:39 PM We Love The King Day. Productivity increases when 1/2 of the pop. is happy with no unhappy persons. Watch for the fireworks OOOOH! AAAAH!

Neat. I personally win my games with just a few cities, and get a culture victory easy.

With some experience you will be able to have those condition: it must be a size 6 city or more with no unhappy citizen and not more contented then happy, sometimes like in my game i stop growth at 7 and manage my tile to get maximum shield output with a We Love the Chancelor( or whatever) Day. From a brut shield output of 32 or 34 but only one productive the the WLKD give 14 shield unsteed of 1 ( with a Golden age).
WLKD rock is a far away city, bring at least 3 worker so you are able to built road in 1 turn and irrigation in 2 or something like that, but first put some shield on a temple, then buy it, same for courthouse and marketplace, this give you the condition to get a WLKD.
Tassadar Jul 07, 2002, 10:06 PM I forgot to say if you dont have enough luxuries to have at least 4 happy citizen then you can use an entertainer or taxman.
Here an exemple, city reach size 6, 3 happy 2 contended 1 unhappy, then manage your tile to get a taxman or entertainer then you have 3 happy 2 contented and 1 specialist. Et voila WLKD. Firework and major shield boost in very corrupted city.
Baron Scot Jul 08, 2002, 04:17 AM i just couldnt figer out what the acronym stood for, thanx

Fallen Angel Lord Jul 08, 2002, 05:48 AM If you switch to communism or democracy, it get rid of the problem of cities being far away. Of course, those governments come kind of late.
