Map size: Large. Continents, temperate, wet, and 4 billion years.
I'm gonna post screen shots and discuss my thoughts on this game, since I'm not used to this difficulty. I Hope to get some good advice along the way!
Thoughts after my first few cities:
I'm used to get the tech lead sooner or later, and that's why I choose a sci civ for this game. I hope the cheap libraries will help. I'm not sure if I've got a decent chance to get the tech lead on demi-god though? If I'm right, it should be possible by the end of the middle ages.
Another reason for going scientific is that I like to keep cities that I conquer in my wars, and cheap culture will reduce the risk of flipping. I know from my first try on demi god that it's nearly impossible to keep close to the AI cultural score. With cheap libraries, I hope I can avoid too much flipping.
My reason for choosing agricultural as the other trait is obvious. The extra food will be needed for expansion.
And when it comes to expansion, it's obvious from the screen shoot that I'm lucky. I guess I'll be able to run my capitol as a settler pump, and to squeeze out an enkidu warrior between every settler. (I'm not sure that it'll work with the extra warrior yet, but I think it's possible.)
On top of that, It seems that Sumer, my second city, will work as a settler pump. Being agricultural, I have the food that I need, and I'm almost certain that I'll get the shields that I need for a settler every 4 turns. As soon as Ive chopped the forest and gotten my granary, I'll send the worker to mine the bonus grass.
So my immediate goal is to get two settler pumps running, and settle all land thaat I can this way. I just hope I can produce enough warriors in my other cities to protect all the settlers and new towns.
I'll soon have some furs to generate some happiness. There is also the possibility to get some gems, but that will cost some worker turns, which is expensive in this early stage. Should I try to get the gems as soon as possible?
Any thoughts are welcome! I'm almost certain that I'm going for domination victory, but I'll change my mind if any other kind of victory seems easier. The red dots mean that I've already decided to put towns there. The yellow dots are possible towns, but I haven't made up my mind yet. Thoughts on this are welcome, of course.
