View Full Version : Our empire

Should we continue as the United Fanatica empire or should we create a new empire, with new flags etc. Also as a side question are we still going to replace the light blue player in the game?

Sons of Fanatics?
Children of Fanatica?
Or the New Union of Fanatica!

Well I think we should stay as the UFE as the stories do say that we are colonists sent from the UFE so we would probably have the same name for our empire.

Children of the Fanatic Colonists = CFC :yeah:

We're NOT the same empire, even if we are a colony of the UFE, so we need a different name of some sort.

The Union of United Fantica Republics...hmmm...that sounds familiar...

I like Leowind's and CurtSibling's ideas. They have ties to our old home world of United Fanatica but gives the new game its own flavor.

We could always simply call ourselves New Fanatica.

In any case, excellent job by Dell to start with all of the questions and polls necessary. I wonder if Sir Dell would care to be our first president...

:) You are always trying to get someone else to be the pres. I might but I've never played on Diety or even emporer, so I don't think I would do the best job.

At least you've played Civ2 sometimes on your own.... (that's more than I can say  )

Dell, we were yellow in the last game, not light blue! ;)

As for the title of our civ, I'm not too bothered, but obviously we should still keep the site name in there somewhere.

If Dell is a bit scared of taking the first Presidency then maybe we could ask starlifter to play the first few turns and then Dell or someone else could take over once we are established and have a few nice cities. Besides Dell, it shouldn't matter that you are a Deity novice because we're all here to advise you on what to do and tell you which citizen becomes unhappy, etc. We could always have a vote for the Presidency, if that's not too weird an idea for a Democracy game. ;) In which case, I nominate starlifter. :)

PS - starlifter, you can refuse nominations if you want of course - just because you want to play the game doesn't mean you have to take a massive part. :)

Hey, why not play a different color for this round - it will give us a chance to have the yellow civ get crushed.... er... involved for this round.

Perhaps the dark blue or purple civ looks better on screen shots or something? I'm not sure, but I'm all for a new color this time 'round.

And duke's right, Dell. You'd be fine as president - anyone who wants to should put themselves up for nomination. If one wishes to learn about deity, the best way is by doing! :)

Perhaps the next game after this we can do an OCC game. It would sure be quick and, I would think, very educational for those who would like to try this. Sure wouldn't need very many governors for THAT one.

So... I guess it's just about time to start up a nomination thread followed closely by a campaigning thread! I'm just glad to see so many new names in the registry thread.

Okay I'll think about it abit more because it would be fun but of course my write ups wouldn't be as good...

Actually, Dell, I think the earliest stages would be the best time to play if you're unsure about the higher level. Happiness issues won't be huge yet; we'll be unlikely to meet any other civs. With all of us to advise you, it will be much like the opening of any other civ2 game: explore and expand :)

A new planet needs a new civ name, colour, flag, everything. I suppose (if we get enough entries) we could have a 'Design our flag!' compo or somesuch.

As for name suggestions, how about these that I am making up on the spot:

New Fanatica - Nice and simple
Fanatican Alliance - Sounds like we have some friends :D
Former Fanatican Colony of Explorers (FFCE) - I like the abbreviation

.

I think the President can be just about anyone who is familiar with the fundamentals of Civ 2... they need not be a Deity expert, as long as they have a dedication to the game, are a good "people" player, and exercise common sense (e.g., listen to the citizens and advisors). I think a model of a good President is how Kev handled it, and whoever runs for it should mainly have a strong commitment to the game whilst in office :).

As for me, I'm not keen on it, but really do appreciate the thought... I'm happy to play a supporting role as John Q. Citizen, and might assist as an advisor if we're short handed.

Personally, I encourage all the players, including the ones new to Democracy, to jump right in and run for office. It's a democracy, which means the general citizenry (like me) can probably provide enough data to overload your sensors  .

BTW, I totally agree with Leowind... early game is particularly good for those new to deity. But even later on, the President will be listening to the people, and besides, if the Prez gets in a "jam" during a series of turns, they can always stop, make a post, and explain what is going on and ask for input.

PS, if the game drops down to 1 remaining citizen (me), I'll vote myself President, hop in, and polish the game off ;) .

About civ color.... I prefer not to be yellow... something like blues or white. Definitely not Purple, at least at Deity. That would cut off too many important concepts about key civs that people could learn about (assuming we ascend to Supreme power).

About a name....

"Fanatical Horsemen of the Apocalypse."

Ok then, I put myself up for nomination....

FREE BEER FOR ALL CITIZENS

But seriously, I just won my first Deity game so it has given me cinfidence and with a group of advisors like you how could I go wrong ;)

More people should now follow me and put themselves up for nomination......

Send me a PM about it if you ever start that OCC game.

This game you are starting right now also looks interesting, but I don't think I'll have the time to get involved. The multi-site demo game is probably going to take most of my time for a while now, but I'll make sure to check in here sometimes to see how you are doing.
