Rashiminos Mar 26, 2008, 09:13 AM This is some matter of controversy over this thread (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=268870)'s name. Let's put it to a vote.
Choice 1: Rumor Mill
Choice 2: Rumour Mill
Choice 3: Other (Please Specify)
Choice 4: Abstain
This is a public 2-day poll.
Provolution Mar 26, 2008, 09:54 AM Other:
Rum Mill, I always like Captain Morgans.
ice2k4 Mar 26, 2008, 10:01 AM I kind of like the Brit's spelling, so I'll take rumour for a change.
Shattered Mar 26, 2008, 11:47 AM I like Roomoor Mill, sounds a bit archaeic. :D
DaveShack Mar 26, 2008, 12:04 PM Where's the "this thread is spam" option? :mischief:
In my dealings with people from many different countries, I have learned to just adapt to whatever alternative spelling (such as ...or vs ...our) is used. :D
Seidrik_The_Gray Mar 26, 2008, 12:58 PM Other: I'd say call it the Civnation Tabloid or Gossip Star...?

I agree. Considering this is an international forum, I don't pay attention to the spelling, especially since for some English isn't their first language.
My vote: However the OP types it.
Diamondeye Mar 26, 2008, 03:35 PM My vote is, surprisingly, Rumour Mill.
Not only do I prefer English compared to American, I am also having English in my school (I know this is silly). I have already once misspelled tumour in an essay and gotten a wrong for it (spelled it the american way; tumor). I get used to "misspelling" if I do it myself on this forum. I realize I can't put this argument onto everyone else :p, o why don't I stop trying...
joncnunn Mar 26, 2008, 08:04 PM Voting Rumor Mill because I prefer American English to British English.
Joe Harker Mar 27, 2008, 03:32 AM Because damn it, thats how you spell it you lazy American typists.
[End pointless rant about american spelling, but you still do it because, the English language is something we still have control over!/]
:sarcasm:
fed1943 Mar 27, 2008, 05:43 AM I don't know, British English is prettier, but American English is easier.
Best regards,
NZL Mar 27, 2008, 05:58 AM Rumour!
Europe ftw!
GeorgeOP Mar 27, 2008, 07:40 AM I dislike all the oddball rules that makes English hard to spell. I favor any approach that subtracts letters that aren't pronounced.

I guess you hate french grammar then.

There's a Battle of Hastings mention around here somewhere.
joncnunn Mar 28, 2008, 06:35 PM Agreed: More over most words that end in "or" in American that also end in "our" in British should really be spelled either "er" or "r" to match thier pronouciation.

Pff, why don't you write rumour as "roomer" then all at once..
dutchfire Mar 31, 2008, 05:27 AM Rumour has won the poll :D
