Do you know (if it's possible) to load a mod directly from the desktop (without having the load the mod through the main game)?

Ginger_Ale Apr 02, 2008, 09:03 PM I'll assume you have Beyond the Sword; you can go to your .ini file (in /My Games/Beyond the Sword/), called CivilizationIV.ini. Open in Notepad -- there's a line that says: ; Specify a Mod folder (Mods\Mesopotamia), '0' for none Mod = 0 Change the "0" to "Mods\Your Mod Name" and it'll load those files when you open the game. There's another way, where you create a shortcut to the Beyond the Sword EXE file and change some parameters, but I'm not exactly sure how that works. This way isn't too hard. In fact, you can just place a shortcut to the .ini file on your desktop and change that line whenever you need to. Jerrymander Apr 03, 2008, 02:24 AM Or you can make a .lnk shortcut. Make the shortcut, then in the Target: box, put quotation marks around the Civ4/Warlods/BTS executable location, make a space, and type mod=/* where * is the name of the mod folder. Rename as appropriate. Ginger_Ale Apr 03, 2008, 05:41 PM Or you can make a .lnk shortcut. Thanks! ori Apr 05, 2008, 02:16 PM or you can use this mod chooser (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=200145) - this uncluttered my desktop a lot :mischief: |
