View Full Version : Looking for Hair prop for Michaels 1, 2 & 3 Gary Childress Apr 02, 2008, 10:48 PM Would anyone know where I can download some free hair pieces for Micheals 1, 2, and 3? Thanks. Bjornlo Apr 03, 2008, 04:03 AM go to here: http://www.renderosity.com/mod/freestuff/search.php select filter by and select micheal, m3, etc (not all at the same time) and in the search by field enter HAIR It will find a number of them for you. But, if this is for Civ3, you can use ANY hair and tweak it a bit nad have it work just fine. Due to lowpoly and decent look, I suggest using PDM hair and just sizing it to fit. Plotinus Apr 03, 2008, 05:23 AM Bjornlo's right that pretty much any hair will fit any figure, with a bit of resizing. The various hairpieces that come with Poser will work with Michael and indeed the PDM. One tip: be sure to turn off the textures on the hair before using them for units, because they slow down the rendering process and there's no way you can see the detail at civ scale. Gary Childress Apr 03, 2008, 06:36 AM Cool beans! I have a lot of hair pieces that came with Poser 7, I didn't realize they would work with the Michael figures. I'll also check out Renderosity. Bjornlo Apr 03, 2008, 09:01 AM They will not fit perfectly without a hair-fit morph for the hair object (prop, etc). But, they will fit good enough to be used in Civ3. If you are going to make photorealistic closeups, you will need better. The hair which comes with P7 is gonna slow your renders down. You want to keep your scenes as low in polygons and as few texture maps (and as low in image size) as you can without compromising quality. Poser hair for Simon, etc which comes with P7 is typically somewhat high in polygon count, and by default will load a texture map (image) where a simple color applied in the material room would be all that can be seen at civ3 scale. Try to use some of the PDM hair first. It is very low poly and has no textures but instead relies on material room colors. Hair on a Civ3 figure is only a couple of pixels wide. Gary Childress Apr 03, 2008, 10:48 AM I loaded up a hair piece from the Poser 1-5 folder in my application. It appears to be older and more simplistic and so far hasn't slowed the render time noticably. |
