next model for submarine diversity: the IJN B1 class (or I-15 class, after the first ship build)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/B1_type_submarine

model has 1274 vertices, 1208 triangles and a 256 skin :) (i think my best sub skin so far)

uses SC animation (not included, http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=270008 [post 12]),
could also work with the Gato ani

scale for picture was 0.6

VERY nice looking model. I would also have to agree with your self assessment; it is by far your best looking sub.
Might I suggest a French sub next? I know a lot of people would like the Surcouf, but it was a unique sub and not very representative of the French submarine force at large. The Redoutable class was one of the largest France had prior to the outbreak of WWII, and I think it would be a better choice.

thanks!

@ Xenomorph

the Redoutable class was already on my list (because of the same reasons), but iīm not sure which will be next, the british S or T-class or the Redoutable.

@ Wolfshanze

french submarine force?
look here (french wiki, german is also available, didnīt found a english list) ;)

i count around 80 subs for french in 1939 - 1941, so almost the same number as germany had to this time

Coyote... I wasn't speaking of the pre-war numbers, I was speaking more of the war-useage...

France surrendered in about six-weeks after the phony war went hot. France had a very large fleet going into the war... almost none of it saw any action of any significance, and this includes France's submarine force.

For instance, the most action the French surface-fleet saw, was not against the Germans or Italians, but rather against the English and Americans.

By all means, I look forward to a French Submarine... I was merely referancing the real-world participation of the French WWII Fleet... which didn't see much action (though it's always nice to imagine what they could have done had France stayed in the war longer).

I'd still prefer to see the Surcouf personally... no, it wasn't built in numbers, but it's one of the very few French submarines that did see any kind of action, and it's very unique (the whole point of "Flavor/Ethnic" units is to be DIVERSE, not look like all the others, right? How much more diverse could the Surcouf be?).

I thought the Surcouf model was already created (by GeneralMatt?)?

@ Wolfshanze

and i started to wonder that you donīt know this numbers ;)

i must agree to 100% of the war usage of the subs (but even the Redoutable class saw a little action, and i donīt mean to be sunk by british or american or by the crews itself, one was able captured a german freighter).

I think i make first a model of the Redoutable, but i never said, that after this i will not make the surcouf, i only hoped troytheface would be faster ;)

btw: knows somebody a distinct italian sub (and or a nation i missed so far)

There were quite a few, since the clarity of the Mediterranean put some rather unique requirements on sub warfare.
I'll get on it and be back with some suggestions in a few.

I might suggest the Marcello-class of submarines for the Italian Regia Marina. They were among the best Italian submarines of World War II, with good speed, strength, and manoeuvrability.

You might also think of doing the Sirena Class, the Marconi class or the unique Ettore Fieramosca.

Okay, I've just been taken too seriously now...

I can get a Yellow Submarine, but I can't get a Rommel...
