I got a bit trigger happy in my most recent game as the Ljosalfar and declared war on the Kurioates before I got sorcery, thinking I could wipe them out with a rush. What I didn't realize, however, was how well entrenched my pink neighbors were. I've got my national hero and a swarm of fawns picking off weaker settlements, but since they adopted FoL and have taken a preference for trees, there isn't really much to raze. I've occasionally torched the forests, but that's a risky proposition since fire, once started doesn't understand the concept of "borders" and I neglected to save a node for water mana. I've got some adepts trained in air/fire ready to turn into death-hurling siege mages as soon as I finish up sorcery, but my tech is dragging slowly and I've got a while to go. Should I make peace and build up my economy until my battlemages are ready to torch the Kurioate walls and rain down lightning upon their soldiers, or press the offensive and trap them within the walls of their super-cities until I am ready to finish the job? I'm #1 in military power and my other significant rivals are already embroiled in their own wars.

Well, consider your risks for remaining at war. Is war weariness a problem? If it is,then heck yeah pull out. If not, than it may be a good idea to XP farm carditha with your army while you prepare the big guns like mages.

I really hate stretching out a war. Either you fight or you don't. One trick that also works in most other games is that I camp near a city (preferably in a fort) for a few turns and wait for them to bring in reinforcements. Then I attack one of the more poorly defended villages at the back, preferably the one supplying them with iron or horses :D
