Recently my friend and I just got back into this game, so who heres played it? What did you think of it? apparently its a very polarizing game, people either love or hate it. I personally loved it, but It just had so much wasted potential in it.

There's a lot of games with wasted potential :(

I havn't seen it for sale for quite some months, and havn't played it. I'm curious as to what it's like though.

Its pretty much a straight sixteen puzzle boss battles in a row, its a game that you cant really explain to someone, they have to play it, then they can "get" it. My biggest issue with it is that I just felt like they could to more with it overall.

I really want to play it, but the cheapest price I can get it for is €59. That's just a bit too expensive. Will buy it if the price has dropped far enough.

Its in bargain bins here for 9.99 USD, its three years old now, why so expensive there?

Wish I knew. It's like the only PS2 game with that ridiculous pricetag over here.

Anyone who says video games are not art, I show them Shadow of the Colossus.

Well, from what I heard, SotC's main problem is that it was a little on the short side. And for some reason I started thinking about what would happen if SotC was moddable. Then there would be the "DOOM Effect," as I coin it.

The DOOM Effect led to the Quake Effect, which led to the Half-Life Effect.

The problem I had with it is that it didn't take advantage of everything it could have done to make an already brilliant game better. It needed more puzzles, more challenge, more variety in the colossus. But it was an awesome game regardless.

Well from what I heard the boss fights are so epic that you can take an hour to defeat a boss while only actually stabbing them for that last minute or so.

I had a lot of fun when I rented SotC. I still have the save game on my memory card waiting for when I get the game some day again.

Well according to (), SotC was the 3rd best 2005 game (only being beaten by Resident Evil 4 and God of War).

But yeah, it only has an average of 92% at Gamerankings, so maybe 9.7/10 is too much.

Ugh.

Look, Swein, Shadow of the Colossus is one of the most beautiful and interesting games of its generation. There's nothing else that I'm aware of that's quite like it. Now, I may have enjoyed Resident Evil 4 a little more, but it stays mostly to a tried-and-true model of gameplay. A significant departure from previous RE installments, certainly, but still not too different from other games I've played. SotC, however, is unique. So, even though it may be all of a half-point on a ten-point scale worse than RE4, it is still far more memborable.

BTW, I haven't played God of War, so I can't comment on it intelligently. Think about that statement for a while.

() wouldn't agree with you, but I would. For one, RE4 is M-rated and I would not be allowed to get it (though I don't have a PS2 either). And SotC actually seems far more interesting than RE4 from that point.

() actually gave SotC the award for "Most Innovative Design of 2005."
