I'd say by far NES's Super Dodge Ball (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=58eJ6CisgT0). Your pick(s)?

BTW, that video doesn't have some of the best tracks from that game like India, Kenya and the final clone level!

TETRIS!

EDIT: I can't find a good link to it on YouTube that isn't altered :( But this one is mostly good.

EDIT2: Can't forget the Super Mario Bros theme!
But again I can't find a link.

I'm more partial to legend of zelda tracks, I think you can basically pick any of them and have pretty good tunes. Although now that I am typing I do like the super mario 2 music.

Zelda's original opening tune is dreamy. :D

When my fro played JJ2 for a first time, he was like That's great, I love it.

I was like this too. Just. Try. It. Listen to it.

Also, I call out RCT2 and WarCraft.

From OST's my choice goes to the GTA series, FlatOut and NFS:MW.

And let us not forget any Star Wars game.

Legend of Zelda games, hands down.

Mario, WoW, Chrono Trigger and Cross, Final Fantasy, Xenosaga, and Katamari also have good music.

Final Fantasy, Legend of Zelda, and GTA. I'm kinda surprised no one's said Guitar Hero.

Guitar Hero doesn't really have game music does it? AFAIK the music is non-game music.

JtheJackal

The best game music was from No One Lives Forever 1 and 2, Tropico, and the Katamari Damacy series.

Morrowind has the best soundtrack ever.

The music was good except you kind of get sick of it after the millionth time the song is repeated.

I can't really remember many full soundtracks from games, given that for much of the first decade of my gaming life I simply turned down the sound and listened to something else. Still do.

That said, there's a couple of gems from Sonic the Hedgehog I love:

Ice-Cap Zone, Act One (http://www.vgmusic.com/music/console/sega/genesis/son3ice.mid) - Sonic the Hedgehog 3

Starlight Zone, Act One (http://www.vgmusic.com/music/console/sega/genesis/son1star.mid) - Sonic the Hedgehog

Zelda, Mario, Metroid, Civilization. Blah blah blah. I wish I'd played a Final Fantasy though.

You've never played a final fantasy? You need to get on that...

Yeah I know. Is there any superb one on the DS? Otherwise I might just end up buying a high-caliber PS3 to play Final Fantasy XII on. And then there's always FFXIII...

Well, I recommend getting the GBA version of Final Fantasy VI which you can play on the DS, it's the best game in the series, IMO. Final Fantasy III is a decent game that captures the old school FF feel. Final Fantasy IV is being released in America on the DS in July. I already imported the Jap version and I have to say it's one of the best games on the DS.

Anyway, here's all the games that can be played on the DS:

FF I-VI
FF XII: Revenant Wings
FFCC: Ring of Fates
FF Tactics Advance
FF Tactics A2

If you own a DS and a PS2 or a PS3 w/BC you can play every game in the main series as well as most of the spin-offs. I'd recommend getting a PS2 or PS3 if you want to play the newer games.

There are very few times you will play a FF game and say it wasn't good. There were a couple on the super nes I didn't care for, but I think one of them was a spinoff. I like the early ones and the later ones pretty much the same. The one for super nes with Tella in it has my heart as the best one though. I think it is ff3. Probably just because i was young and played it a lot. The final fantasy legend games aren't bad for GB either. Final Fantasy Adventure for gameboy supposedly fits into the secret of mana storyline somehow.

While I bring up secret of mana, I remember it had some pretty good music.

That was probably Mystic Quest and it was an abortion. In Japan, Mystic Quest was called Final Fantasy USA, because it was specifically made as a beginner RPG for American gamers.

I like the early ones and the later ones pretty much the same. The one for super nes with Tella in it has my heart as the best one though. I think it is ff3. The one with Tellah was released as FF II on the SNES which is actually FF IV. SNES FF III is actually FF VI and there both among the best in the series.

Banjo Tooie (http://www.vgmusic.com/music/console/nintendo/n64/index-af.html) still has better tracks than anything the Mario series has ever pumped out.

Super Mario Galaxy has some good ones, as did the Banjo series. Skies of Arcadia had good music, too. A game with awesome music was Snowboard Kids 2.

Tropico and to a slightly lesser extent Tropico 2.

It's the only game soundtrack that I not only let play in game, but listen to outside of the game.

Guitar Hero doesn't really have game music does it? AFAIK the music is non-game music.

In GH 3 the two first battle songs could be classified as game music, since they have been exclusively composed for the game.

I like Ski or Die's music, but that is probably mainly for nostalgic reasons. Of course I also like all that usual Mario, FF etc. stuff. Pokémon has some quite nice songs, too. Vanilla CivIV's Baba Yetu title song is awesome, too.
