Awesome!

Is the generic musketman based off Dutch musketmen? The hat looks kinda Dutch to me... :)

Man, these are superb Sandris! Any chance of a German specific one? It would only be a slight alteration of the third ones looks (mainly through colors by using lots of black and gold, and I would advise placing a Tabbard which is the musketeer typical overcoat-like-mantle thing, with a German eagle on the it).

In fact, here's what I had in mind:

Take this design:

http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a261/DJTiesto/2.jpg

But replace the crosses with the Holy Roman Eagle, which would be this design:

http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a261/DJTiesto/1.jpg

Here's a quick merging I did of what it would preferably look like (notice that the plumes are also color coded, one black and one red):

http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a261/DJTiesto/3.jpg

So just place a Tabbard on the unit, add the eagle design to the Tabbard and color code the plumes. Is this possible? I would be ecstatic if you would make him (shouldn't be too much trouble since you already have the models and the props at your disposal).

Nice! I'll be using the Spanish musketeer as the Gold Musketeer for Bastok, and the generic one as the King unit for President Karst of Bastok.

Absolutely awesome! They're great on so many levels...one for looking beyond excellent, two, for being from the era with probably the fewest units made, and three because I was hoping to make some Gothic/Renaissance swordsmen and knights but had no interest in making their 'missile' equivalents and now don't need to feel guilty for excluding them when I get time to tackle that next project ;) ! Though that is by far the least important reason for why they are awesome. Great work!

Can you make some Chinese gun units?

Looks awesome, Sandris. The Renaissance is an underrepresented era, and this helps a lot. I can't help but wish that they'd pull out those swords (or axes) for secondary attacks, though! ;)

These are absolutely fantastic. Great work, as always.

Obligatory Request: It'd be really nice to see an African musketman or two...

Another fantastic pack you have created Sandris. Every time I see a new pack released from you I am never disappointed at the level of detail and animations. Following the lead of others an obligatory request would be for an Arab (N African) one.

Sandris, you are great, and your work too! I will use all the units in this pack! I'm trying to make some units and your work is a great suggestion for me. Thanks a lot!

I saw these last night and decided that I would have to log in to post a comment. These are really wonderful units; I'm quite impressed by the amount of detail in the models. Great job.

There is one thing that I noticed, though. During the recoil, it looks to me like the smoke cloud moves with the gun—probably it's parented to the gun. While animating the attack, when you get to the frame when the smoke begins to appear, parent the smoke ball prop to the rotate ball. That way when the recoil action happens, the cloud of smoke is not affected (i.e., it doesn't move up and down or side to side). Then make the frames for the smoke ball prop keyframes when the cloud is appearing before reparenting the smoke ball prop to the gun. To realign it properly with the gun, you can copy the keyframe from the first frame of the file.

I hope I didn't make this more complex than it is. :-) And, as I said, these are really great units. They even brought me out of my months-long, every-now-and-then-lurk mode.

edit: I love the hats getting blown off the heads in the death animations. Great detail.

Hi Sandris,

There is one munit showing musketeers and pikemen together, and there are altogether too many individuals in it for my particular taste. Would you consider making a 2 person munit, one a musketeer and one a pikeman (two such would be ideal, with the second representing a Spanish tercio)?

Best Regards,

Oz

PS I apologize for jumping on the, "ooh, ooh! Can you make this unit" bus but such seems to be the price of excellence in these parts. :)

I do not apologize. Can you do a generic mid eastern variant?

I would like to make historical musketmen/arquebusiers/calivermen, so I need some historical images for non-European civs.

What about the tercio unit, I`m occupying with Conqustadors` units for American mods and scenarios, so there will surely be and the Spanish Pikeman. I`ll try to make both versions - a separate Pikeman unit and a separate Tercio. :)

Outstanding! I know which Firaxis unit will get the boot...

Point of criticism for the French, Spanish and Generic: the stand seems to jump to the side a bit when firing. Might be how it's connected to the musket.
