If you encounter a CTD bug, please follow this procedure:

Turn, temporary, these values to 1:

; Overwrite old network and message logs
OverwriteLogs

; Enable rand event logging
RandLog

; Enable message logging
MessageLog

in this file : My Documents\My Games\Beyond the Sword\CivilizationIV.INI.

Then, try a game, and send me the Logs/MPLog.txt generated file (to el_zozo@hotmail.fr (mailto:el_zozo@hotmail.fr)).

For minor bugs, explain it in this thread.

Yeah, there is some problems with the server which host the mod files. Many people try to download the mod, and the server is not high quality. I am currently searching for alternative servers.

Hi jojoweb, it's a great mod.

It seems there is some problems with Brazil 's unit (charriot for example), i don't see the unit only a red hallow.

I cant' open saved game with patch one, once I installed patch 2. Not a problem, just waned to let you know.
I started a new Monarch game, it's taougher than without Patch 2, I am miles behind in tech, is that "normal" or am I playing some thing wrong?

I noticed weird behaviour for naval unit: galleon , ship of the line and frigate. They basically move "between turns". they end turn n in x,y, I hit enter and than next turn i find them in the box z,t !!!!!! It is frustrating because I am trying to invade a enemy and colonize an "empty" continent but I just can't take my troops where needed !!!! In the save I sent you, you should just move the naval stack near Breaza one step west and hit enter, next turn I find it some 5 or 6 places south!!! same thing with the galleon transporting a cavalry, a cat and a worker in the south trying to reach Cardassia, after turn 1950, you'll find in a diffrent place !!!!

Yes, it is too hard to maintain positive governors' loyalties (and so, the corruption rate is too high). It is due to distance of the palace/governement center influence calculation. It will be fixed in the next version.

For the naval bug, it will be fixed in the next version too.

My first game was over very soon though. Cultural victory by one of the AIs. I had already suspected this after the surprising change in the way culture works in this mod.

I would suggest to turn off cultural victories in the default options (if this is possible) or to give a hint at the start or somewhere a newbie like me can see it :-)

Merci pour ton mod qui s'annonce comme une nouvelle extension !

Je n'ai pas encore trop joué avec mais j'ai déjà remarqué quelques bugs:
- Il y a un trait de caractère qui retourne un "TXT_..etc", le nom ne s'affiche pas correctement (tu peux voir ça en créant une partie, dans la liste des leaders).

- C'est bien d'avoir des nouvelles civilisations, mais je trouve un peu dommage que certains des développeurs de ces civilisations n'ait ajouté qu'une photo à la place d'un modèle 3D pour leaders parce que c'est un peu le charme de ce jeu ;). (Ce n'est pas vraiment un bug)

Pour l'instant, c'est à peu près tout ! Si j'en trouve d'autres, je te ferais suivre !

Je dois avouer que tu as abattu un boulot considérable, félicitations !!
J'avais participé un peu à la traduction de Total Realism en français et je dois dire que travailler la Civilopédia prend un temps considérable !

- Il n'y a pas de son lors des combats d'explorateurs contre les animaux (j'ai pas encore fait de combats entre d'autres unités)
- Dans la description de la dissuasion nucléaire il y a une faute d'orthographe: "du nombre de bombes atomiques qu'ils possèdent et que vous posséder << "possédez". :p
- Une petite amélioration: Avant je jouais avec Varietas Delectat, Blue Marble et Main Screen Mod. J'ai vu que tu as integré le main screen mod, mais tu devrais activer l'option pour voir la superiorité numérique militaire des autres parce que c'est super pratique !

You can activate/disactivate some victory types if you begin a custom game or by opening My Documents\My Games\Beyond the Sword\CivilizationIV.INI file. Change these lines:

; Victory Conditions
VictoryConditions = 111111111

Each "1" means that the victory condition is activated, each "0" means that the victory condition is disactivated. The cultural victory is the 5th victory condition ;). So you must change the numbers into:

; Victory Conditions
VictoryConditions = 111101111

Hi! I downloaded this mod yesterday and it really looks great. I load the mod, I start a game, everything looks like it should, my leader is there, all the new buttons are and so on.
However, in turn two, as the "Welcome to Total War" screen pops up, my technological bar and icons dissappear, along with my city's growth and population bar. Also, the game starts to lack very much.
I press the new turn button again and the game crashes. Any ideas about what the problem might be?

Otherwise, the mod really looks great! Good work! ( :

Great Mod!

Just a minor bug - the civ leaders on the custom game setup aren't in alphabetical order, so finding any specific leader takes a long time.

im not the most computer literate person i know so im requesting clear instructions for installation please.

I unpacked and placed the folder in the beyond the sword mod folder, and when i load this mod, nothing happens.

the game loads with the "total war .94" on the top right of the menu screen, but when i start a game, there is no change at all.


what is it that i have to do to correctly install the game, for i feel thats where i went wrong. =)

great mod, but it takes so long for a turn to be complete.

it takes no longer than a minute for my turn to come up after i press the red button in vanilla civ.

But in total war .94 it takes at least 4-5 minutes. its getting annoying =(

any ideas what it might be? or is this just a problem with the mod =)

I have found a very little mistake, in the description of slave it says twice: "Can join city as Enslaved Labour"
one time in the begining of the text, and the second one on the bottom.

Verify that the mod's folder is : Mods\Total_War_0.96, and not Mods\Total_War_0.96\Total_War_0.96

I have another bug, i dont know if is my problem or the mod problem.
Aparently when u build a building in the cities it doesnt appear.
This is a sc from a babylon city (using accelerated start) with all the buildings in bts

In the \Mods\Total_War_0.97\Total_War_0.97.ini file, you have an option named "NoBuildingsGraphics". Turns it into False if you want to see buildings graphics.

ok, after doing a completly random map, after a turn has been made, the city automatically get legendary culture, and I built 3 cities and they automatically get legendary and i automatically win the game... can you fix this?

i had that problem with legendary culture a few times too, but im glad you are gonna have that fixed. I have a few other bugs though.

1: the buccaneer unit causes my games to freeze up and then crash. any other unit so far seems to be ok, but just that one causes problems.

2: Macchu Pichu doesnt work correctly. I can in fact go over and found cities on mountains now but i dont get the hammer and coin from each one in the cities radius.

3: similarly, i dont think cities founded on mountains are able to connect to trade networks. i have 3 cities on mountains, one on the coast, one in the middle of a chain of hills in my empire and one on a river. only the one on the river gets access to my resources, which leads me to believe that if there is no river, there will be no trade. can we fix this so roads or coasts make trade possible? thanks!

OH btw, great GREAT mod. one of the finest. keep up the great work!!!

also a bug: if you vote to make missionary activity controlled by the resident of the AP (and that is you) and you gift a missionary to anyone, you get a CTD. might wanna look into that too.

Revenons à nos moutons, je ne sais si c'est un bug ou non, mais quand je selectionne une unité, n'importe laquelle , il n'y a pas de son, de voix comme par exemples " j'attends vos ordres", de plus pas de bruitage lorsque les unités se déplacent

Normal ou pas ?

Ceci il le fait a chaque fois que j'ai déjà une partie en route.

J'ai pris ceci dans le Themeparselog, ça a peut etre un lien ?...

J'ai remarqué ce problème, mais il est sans gravité (si je puis dire ^^). En s'y prenant plus lentement parfois, le problème ne survient pas. Je ne dis pas que ce n'est pas un soucis, mais il est juste lié à la lourdeur du mod, c'est un problème de ressource en gros, et non pas une erreur de programmation.

OK, c'est vrai que c'est un gros mod, surtout que le jeu n'est pas jeune et qu'il y avait déja des probléme de ressource (jeu trop gourmant). Ok alors, cela doit également expliquer le fait que le jeu rame assez vite en gigantesque avec 15 civilisations. Faut que moi aussi je sois moins gourmant

You have a file named 'Total_War_0.98.ini' in the Total_War_0.98 Folder (the Total_War_0.98.ini.bak file is not important).

The Wonder (forget which one) that eliminates the fog of war, caused my map to never update. For example, a neighbor civ built a city on my border, and even when I had troops in the city, the city didn't show up. It only showed the units in the city. When I went to world builder, it showed a city there, but when I went back to the game, the city still didn't show up.

Salut ,j'ai remarquer que quand on met en vente son unité(active vente mercenaire) ,l'unité est vendu au prochain tours et pourtant on recois pas d'argent , et aussi que l'ennemi a droit d'acheter tes propre unités ,pourrai-tu regler se probleme ?

Oops, effectivement, l'acheteur est bel et bien débité, mais j'ai omis la ligne de code qui crédite le vendeur :lol:. Ce sera règlé dans la version 0.98 (la prochaine).

For english speakers: When you sold a mercenary, the buyer's treasury was debited, but the seller's treasury (yours) wasn't credited. It will be fixed in the next version.

i downloaded the 0.98 version twice yesterday. both times i got a xml error about, i already deleted it so i dont remember exactily what it said, something like warlords_changed line something. sorry i dont have all the error info hope this helps.

Je viens de télécharger/tester le mod mais dès que je crée la 1ere ville quelque soit la civilisation, le programme plante. J'ai du tester le mod une dizaine de fois... même résultat.
Le passage au tour suivant sans créer de ville idem.
Il semblerait qu'une erreur de mémoire soit à l'origine du bug. D'après Vista, "l'instruction à xxx emploie l'adresse mémoire xxx. La mémoire ne peut-être en état read"
Pour info, total_war Version 0.98 / windows vista

Il y a un problème au niveau des constructions des lieux saints. En effet, l'église de la nativité pour ne prendre que cette exemple ne peut-être bâtie que dans la ville sainte taoïste.
Il me semble par ailleurs que raser une ville ne permet pas d'obtenir l'argent promis. Si le butin proposé est de 35(65) soit 65 pour raser la ville, on obtient que 35. A vérifier...

The engineer tech, when you place your cursor on the +1 road movement icon which is half off the tech window, causes a CTD. This can be replicated in any game I've tried so far, but if you still want an autosave I can provide one.

I think your confused. The sig jojo has needs updated, the current version, unless I've missed something, is .981. The big download is .98, and there's a small patch to .981 - which I found out to my dismay is NOT savegame compatible. Or I did something wrong. End of that game anyways.

After installing TWM v0.98 and patch v0.981 (english), setting NoBuildingsGraphics and NoUnitArtStyles to "False" in Total_War_0.98.ini doesn't change anything.
Is it a bug or I just forgot to do something else?

I'm uncomfortable trying it again, but using .982 and hovering over my previously reported bug, I got a Blue Screen of Death.

Ok, some report from me. Playing anything above Large makes the game unstable (monstrous even unplayable) and no, i don´t think it´s my pc.

Beside that, the free movement contracts are very bugged. Other nations cancel this every few years and offer it again a little time after.

Also concerning the UU of Vassal Civs. If you get a second Civ as Vassal, you lose the UU of the first Civ. Is this planned that way ?

...but I downloaded your file and it came in two parts (plus the patch): Total_War_0.99.7z.001 and Total_War_0.99.7z.002 - neither of these seems to be a RAR file...

...how do I open these? :confused:

Real Great mod, very fun, very inovating, too bad i cant play 15 turns on modern era without a CTD =/ sending to your email the log and the saved game

J'ai téléchargé le mod et j'ai commencé à jouer. Il est très bien ! Enfin le début... Au bout d'une demi heure de jeu j'ai le message suivant :

memory allocation failure - exiting program
Reason : bad allocation

Quelqu'un a une solution ? J'aimerai bien continuer le jeu ! Merci d'avance.

le pbm vient de ta config et de tes paramètres de jeux : il te faut réduire tes paramètres graphiques et/ou prendre des cartes plus petites. Je crois que ce mod est très gourmand en mémoire, il te faut donc au moins 2 gigas pour une carte 'Large' (ou des graphismes au minimum). Bonne chance :) .

Je lui ai répondu par message privé, il ne s'agit pas d'un problème de config, mais je lui ai indiqué la marche à suivre pour identifier la cause du crash.

Hi, i´ve encountered a CTD Bug which reproduces itself every time at the same round. But when i toggle the logs, like you describe it at page 1, i get a 160 MB logfile.. are you sure i should send you this?

edit: The log ends with this line
Rand = 127 on -1 (Game - setBaliseChar)

some more bugfinding..

the feature that a city can´t get the same plague in the next round again, if healed doesnt work.

Furthermore savegames played with the 99c patch are not compatibel with 99d?

I got a ctd when a built the game of the arrow building, that native american unique building. I also once got a CTD when i raided an enemy city, i might got that from a overload of resistance troops.

sorry but I try to change the name of the leader, name of the people or adjective but remain always the name of the people chosen (if I choose to play with a Roman leader, for example, and I change in Delezian Empire, when I see the kind of people, in the score or other places, remain Roman empire). this mod doesn't start with windows 7 64bit.
I try run as administrator and run like windows xp sp2, same probleme.

Early in the game, other leaders can ask for a trade for contact with other leaders, but you can't do the same. You can't even offer leaders as a gift.

When I start a new game, some time it's as if I have Stehenge and the Pyramids, ie I have a monument from start and all government civics are available!!!
is that a bug or a random gift ;-)
