INSTRUCTION THREAD 2600 BC

Being fair, we got about 60 % new players this demogame, so we shouldn't be too hard on them for failing to post instruction threads. Its typical opposition to keep quiet about this, then post the ultimatum much later when the damage already occured. Well, now we are fixing it.

This is based on other threads:

Technology Research:

Archery
Mysticism
Pottery

Diplomacy:

open borders with both Babylon and Spain the instant writting is finished
set all espionage onto Spain at start of turn set.

Unit Movements

Blastoid-Gaiyut Scout will, pending open border, go through Babylonia, then follow the coast to Spain.

Warband Prochon will follow Faith Faction Settler to Paradise Hills and Settle.

We need early build instructions for both Arete and the new Faith city, but we do expect an archer for defense in the Faith City and a monument as requested by them before (due to tech choices, largely influenced by Faith).

Arete will likely build warrior, then settler, then archer. Settler will head for site 2N1E of Pig Farm by Arete.

We still need detailed micromanagement plans for the two cities, please.

My instructions for turn set as way of spoken word are

-open borders with both Babylon and Spain the instant writting is finished
-set all espionage onto Spain at start of turn set.

These are the only set instructions. Ballazac if you disagree please chime in, as I have not heard any argument on these decisions.

If we encounter other civs during the turnset we should remain friendly with them. We should open borders with them if there is no reason not to. The only reason I could see not to is if they are "worst enemy" to Babylon.

I guess the Scout movement is also a set instruction then, since OB with Lincoln seem to be.

Now we only want to specify worker actions, as well as the build queue for Faith City, as well as tile usage. That is what we need.

Tenative New Giruvegan build queue (NOTE that this is the general idea, subject to change):

1. Archer for city defense (if Archery not done, will begin worker until able to build archer)
(at this time, the Prochon Warband can leave in order to serve on the front lines)
2. Archer to protect resources
3. Monument OR worker depending on size
4. Monument OR worker depending on #3

I timed the distance, we WILL have completed Archery before you settle/begin to build in Faith City (Oh, we need a name for it, "Tentative New Giruvegan"?)

Also, if you are settling on that hill, I would recommend worker after Archer, or you will suffer lack of growth due to limited food.
You may need that Rice Paddy very soon.

The name will be "New Giruvegan." Tentative just means I'm not sure yet :)

I will look into building a worker sooner, I think that's probably better.

Why not just call it "Giruvegan", since there is no "Old Giruvegan"? We are basically the first three cities at large, so "Giruvegan" may well fly as well.

Other ideas:

Zodiark City
Paradise City
Faith City
St. Blessing
Elysia

If you follow the histroy of the church of Giruvegan, you will know there is an old Giruvegan, and therefore, in the name of Faith, we name our city New Giruvegan. Thanks for the input though.

Its all good :) New Giruvegan then sounds as the best option. Faiths call though.

This is an improvement -- too bad the veteran players in the Triad didn't see fit to instruct their padawans from the start.

So this is Provolution's play session, and he's the giver of instructions for the things in the OP? Or are the givers of instructions going to confirm these so we know it is authentic? How would we know who is responsible for which things?

Provolution has just collected the things we've decided upon and listed them here, he is neither the order-giver (well, he is on certain Warlords things like scouting) nor the one who is running the turnchat.

Trust us, we have informed on the need for instruction threads, but none came out of it. Also, several in the Legion was here last game, so Veteran applies for more than me.

I only did this as an administrative duty, as I was tired of giving advise with no follow up.

Luckily, Ballazic is shaping things up, and he will give a more complete response later.

Very well, I'm glad to see you put an end to it. FWIW I've had the same thing (advice not acted on) happen to me in RL and it's hard to balance. :)

Yes, DS, we are both in the IT/Telecom business, so I notice some common behavioral aspects :) Though, I am mostly operating towards D.C.

We need our tennative build orders for Arete?

I would like to see them here as well. It is the main thing I am still unsure about.

After arete has finished the build queue already stated, surely a horse archer, no one said it had to come from the warlords city.

If I was playing this game on my own. I would build a horse archer next but we are not and we have commitments to getting these two cities established for our allies. So I agree on the front end of the build order
Are we planning to run a great scientist? If so I can go with the library. If we are simply using it for a 25% bonus. I thiunk a horse archer first would be better.

Thanks Ballazac

I like the way this thread is working. It is much more clear to me what we are going to do.

Can we set a precident that the turn player post this thread 24-48 hours before a game session and order be in 24 hours before game session in case we have compatibility issues?

AluminumKnight

My suggestion would be: Set up a poll and run it. If it passes, DS can modify the "Core Rules" in the LRR forum.

This time it's a little late, but we'll try to be on time for future sessions!

This is the guideline (sometimes rule) we played previous demogames with.

A better way is to start a discussion using that proposal in the rules thread, get any comments and suggestions out of the way and THEN poll the final version.

As it is, we've got a poll up with a proposal, and already have changes to it. That really invalidates the entire poll.

I I just think we need a science bonus before we start the military prep

I agree with blastoid that HA should come before library, but I can also see the the arguments for the library

blastoidstalker
Apr 21, 2008, 06:04 PM
I just think that if we are not running a scientist specialist that the library is not as usefull to us right now as a horse archer. The science gain we will get is not large, maybe 3 beakers. If we use it to run a specalist the gain is around 7 beakers plus we start building are first great person. I feel that if we use a specalist it is worth making the library. If the specalist is going to come along later then a horse archer will be more usefull.
Since we will be loaning our pigs to the warlords i am not sure how well we can support a science specalist at this time.
