A quick question about url icons -- that little icon that is just to the left of http on the address bar.
Recently on my computer, these icons are mixed up or inappropriate for their address. For example Civfanatics main page has Google's blue and white G instead of the fanatics torch, AOL has my credit union's icon.
Can I fix this? What could cause this? (oh that's 2 questions)

empty your browser cache, maybe?

Well that kinda helped, now all the icons are the generic ie whitepage w/ an e.
That's better as far as I'm concerned.

I vaguely remember seeing a Firefox extension that lets you pick the icons yourself. Might only work on bookmarks though.

If they're all white, you need to visit the sites again. That should set them to their proper images.

Don't know the answer to your question, but the icons are called "favicons". Might help in googling for an answer if the problem persists.

It did for most of them but already AOL and Civfanatics have incorrect icons.
I googled favicons and am now going to delete my IconCache.db as that is the next easiest suggestion.
<edit> well that didn't work since XP SP2 doesn't rebuild the database -- but clearing the cache and then changing the color depth and restarting did the trick. I saw this on a thread and don't know why changing the color depth resets the .db but who can argue w/ success.
