I played on tiny pangea deity for cultural victory. In my last 2 attempts, AI gandhi keeps getting diplomatic victory from the AP at +7 w/ Hatty. I know I can stop him by having more pop, but I already have like 3:mad: in each my cities.

Another way I can stop him maybe build the AP myself, but that's not possible for me at deity. Also, I can start at hemispheres so each player gets an island, but that means I wont get religions for a long time.

Does anyone have any strategies how I can stop Gandhi?

Don't choose him as an opponent?

do you have the second most population?
try to get people to vote for you instead

do all your cities have the AP religion?
if they don't have the religion they don't count towards your share of the vote

are you in the AP religion?
if its safe diplomatically this doubles your votes

if all else fails invade him and burn the AP city, gandhi always forgets to build an army

I finally found a way to counter this...just like what bestje says, have all my cities with that AP religion...but then last game Gandhi won a cultural victory before I did! :mad: I dont think I can compete with deity AI on cultural, Gandhi's cities have all 7 religions and I bet he put the cathedrals in there. Also he tech way too fast because he built rock n roll, effiel tower when I just switch to free speech and pacifism. Starting at ancient age is very challenging. This game is probably play easier at Warlord or vanilla.

In my last game, I had one of the best starting location: 3 clamps, a corn and gem. My second city form a strategic chokepoint between half the pangea and the other half divided by Gandhi and Asoka. Perhaps the Ai couldnt build settlers, they grab all the wonders (even Chitzen Itza!) before I can start. All I could build was the Sistine Chapel and Great Library (for some reasons they didnt build it.) I was playing on my own when suddenly the HOF warning tells me that a foreign city has reached legendary culture. When I click on the setting screen, two of Gandhi's cities already reached legendary and I was shocked. Now I need to come up with new strategies...

see if one of his legendary cities is coastal and raze it, they probably won't be very well defended and the AI rarely has a 4th back up city

Forget about building WW. This is Deity.Concentrate on your goal. In a cultural game it is better not to build GLIB than building it.
