Incredible, just incredible! How do you get them done so fast?! I can't understand it, considering I know just how much time must be invested in EACH unit. You're a machine man!

Good show, Sandris!

I'll likely be using the Man at Arms, as well as possibly the Musketman and pikeman in the FF mod....

:wow: Ares is right: you are most certainly in our top tier of unit makers. These are extraordinary.

- And thank you for the Civ coloring. :)

... Now if you'd only combine a musketeer and a pikeman in a single unit ... :mischief:

holy crap . .

After examing the units, I have this to say:
Your horse animations and proping are damn fine.
Your infantry (esp. musket/arquebusiers) are stocky.

Thank youuuuuu, Sandris! :king:
These units came unexpected to me and they are so cool - damn fine work...

Just keep on - itīs a lot of fun to have such flavour units for Renaissance/Gunpowder period
(this is an era often "underrated" or forgotten in Civ3 scenario working - hey Yoda & embryodead,
after your amazing MEM mod: any chances for a GEM "Gunpowder European Mod" 1450 - 1750 mod?)

You mean like adding techs for matchlock, wheel lock, and flintlock?

You mean like adding techs for matchlock, wheel lock, and flintlock?

Well, not just adding those techs - these were already included in MEM late/end game - but modify civs, eras/techs, units (land & sea),
small/big wonders, grapics (ev. cities, fortress, trade ports, etc.) certainly the map (instead of european map: the world to colonize)

With all the new fantastic renaissance/gunpowder units we have now (and with those, who probably will follow :crazyeye: ), I would be cool to
have a GEM scenario, which starts about the period (or even a bit earlier) where MEM has ended...

Apr 30, 2008, 11:04 AM
Have you checked out Age of Colonization? It follows this same time period and is incorporating Sandris' units as fast as they churn out.

Alot of Sandris Russian medieval units and his recent musketman pack would fit too in that era I'd imagine embryodead.

I don't know, just being silly I guess. Whats the current status of MEMII btw? When is the new patch with Sandris units in it going to be released I can't wait to try it Embryo....

1.2 patch went on hold while I was swamped with RL work, which was convenient I guess since so many new medieval/renaissance units came out recently.

Damn, I had just finished to update my British civ...
Start again!

A question: France and Russia have many grenadiers (1700, 1750, 1790). England has only one (1700).

Could you add an intermediate one?

I`ve already made British grenadiers for 1700, 1750, 1790, including highlanders and mounted grenadiers. They will be posted soon. :)

It really is very simple and lacking of any mystery. Sandris uses the paperdoll for his units.

Ah dinnae unnerstand wah he is sayeen` bout them beein stockah? They be lookin` all the same?

Micaelus
May 04, 2008, 05:30 PM
Why's that?

Because Sandris (along with most human unit makers using Poser) builds his human units from Kinboat's PDM model. The dimensions of Kinboat's PDM are thicker and shorter (stockier) than a real human being because Firaxis' original units are stockier than real humans. So, if you are comparing Sandris' units to actual humans, or to actual human-based models, such as Michael 3 or those packaged with Poser, they are going to appear stocky. (Some unit makers use these models, notably NavyDawg and most recently Gary Childress, resulting in more naturally-sized units.) But, comparing Sandris' units to Fraxis' units, or the vast majority of other community-made units, they are going to look just right. (And, comparing them to Firaxis' units, they're going to look much better ;) )

I guess I'm too picky. I was comparing them to the firaxis units. Thought these a bit rotund. Maybe it's my abhorrence towards fat people. But utah's taller. Tall people are swell.
Here is fat sheep getting in shape for my plate. :sheep: (only of which I will eat little of)

These do look excellent, and they are, (I believe) civ coloured, meaning they take the colour of the civ?

One other question, what program do you use to open an .rar file?

7-Zip is open source software. Most of the source code is under the GNU LGPL license. The unRAR code is under a mixed license: GNU LGPL + unRAR restrictions.
Supported formats:
Packing / unpacking: 7z, ZIP, GZIP, BZIP2 and TAR
Unpacking only: RAR, CAB, ISO, ARJ, LZH, CHM, MSI, WIM, Z, CPIO, RPM, DEB and NSIS
For ZIP and GZIP formats, 7-Zip provides a compression ratio that is 2-10 % better than the ratio provided by PKZip and WinZip
