Quite a few useful button making setups already, so why not toss one more into the mix, eh?

I appologize for not having a GIMP version, but I don't have the program and am not familiar with it. If converting over is easy enough I would be delighted should somebody make a GIMP version available :)


This Photoshop save sets up Promotion Icons to work by Effects and Masks. What that boils down to meaning is that you can change the color of the background by doing a simple solid-color fill, and it'll still look decently textured (couldn't quite make it EXACTLY the same as current Red/Blue textures are). Same with the Icon itself, you can fill the layer with a single solid color, and then in the Mask you set the shape you want to use.


I have also included some minor items to add in. Star, Droplet, and Plus sign, to reflect similar, but slightly different (like upgraded version) promotions. They are pre-made as standard Gold color, but you can use the Paths to create them in new colors if you changed that around.



Setup when you load it is my best approximation of the standard Gold on Blue, and I have made a small Mickey-Mouse head just to demonstrate where you want to paint your Icon shape.

Nice, i have just started to make new color promotions based on the domain. This will be helpful. My problem is how to extract the icon, but maybe i dont need to? Heres my first BAD attempt. So what you are saying is that you can just change the background color?

In the Utilities section of the Downloads Database you can find a DDS converter plugin for Photoshop. Install that and then you can save as DDS files. If that is what you meant by extracting the buttons.


Your sample is just a flat plane, so either you removed the layer effects or this was done by other means?

If done using my PSD file, it is ideal to trace the image you want to use (with the Magic Wand Tool for greatest of ease) at a very large size. Once you have the area you want to draw on selected, you can save that as a Work path. Then import the Path to my PSD and load it as a selection while you have the Layer Mask (with Mickey colored back over with Black) selected. Fill with pure white and you are set.
