So my wired internet stopped working suddenly like a few days ago because windows for some reason starting failing to detect my realtek network card. I'm using wireless from my laptop now but I want to get the wired connection back.

I'm gotten it to detect the card a few times since it stopped working but once my computer goes into sleep mode again and I wake it up, it can't detect it.

All I see under devices is the 1394 connection but not my Realtek network card.

How can I get windows XP to detect my network card again?

have you gone into Device Manager and checked if its installed there?

Also, make sure to tell windows not to turn off the device to save power. ( should be under properties > power management in the device manager for the card)

is this a laptop or a desktop the card isnt working in? If its a desktop, open it up and pull the card out, maybe dust some things off and plug it back in. Maybe it just came loose.

Its a laptop. I know its a RealTek RTL8168/8111 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Card
Because the packet scheduler support thing shows up under hardware devices but the actual card doesn't.

Can you try downloading the drivers for it and forcing XP to install them ( if they have an installer)?

The download links from realtek don't seem to work unfortunately.
