My laptop has a blue screen of death that declares that I have an Unmountable Disk Volume?

Some searching on the Internet has revealed that this supposedly a common a problem with XP and the simple solution is to boot up from a boot disk and then do a chkdsk and a fixboot and it should all be fine.

My problem is that I don't have a boot disk and despite there being 100s of sites that purport to explain how to make one, I can't work out what to do. Can someone please explain in dummy's terms how I can make a CD that will boot my laptop so I can fix this problem?

Thanks!!

To make a boot disk you need:

(a) your original windows disk
or
(b) your installed version of windows running

Since you have neither, AFAIK you cannot make a boot disk.

Perhaps you can use super grub disk
http://www.supergrubdisk.org/

I never used it myself and I know very little about it but I heard it works very well.
Good luck.
