And there we have it. Now let us build a council of doom.
Ministry of the Army
Ministry of the Navy
Ministry of the Industry ComradeDavo
Ministry of the Economy
Ministry of Foreign Relations Tycoon101
Ministry of Silly Walks Kan' Sharuminar
Ministry of Noobish Advice
If I somehow manage to develop a decent country and make it to 1936, then I'll export it to Doomsday, then we can have some more fun.
Now, make me recommendations on what our first move should be!
Tycoon101 May 01, 2008, 06:37 PM I'll apply for the Ministry of Foreign Relations!
First off, just increase your mobilization pool and work on increasing your tech point output. Meanwhile, build good relations with Prussia so you can have a superb trading partner later on.
Kan' Sharuminar May 01, 2008, 06:41 PM The Age of Victoria AAR's is upon us :run:
I'll look after the Ministry while you're gone.
Metromonkey May 01, 2008, 06:58 PM Invade Texas, Mexico and Great Britain.
ComradeDavo May 01, 2008, 06:58 PM I'll take advisor for Industry if I may:)
By the way, key thing as the USA is to get the Republican party elected! Aim to do it for when it historically happened in 1860.
The Age of Victoria AAR's is upon us :run:
:D
SuperBeaverInc. May 01, 2008, 07:03 PM Anything special I need to do to get the Republicans elected? Or just go into the political screen and set them as the ruling party?
ComradeDavo May 01, 2008, 07:09 PM Anything special I need to do to get the Republicans elected? Or just go into the political screen and set them as the ruling party?
Take a look at their party ideas on the political screen, then always pick them when theres a debate! For example always choose anti-slavery options! Basically get your population to vote for them.
SuperBeaverInc. May 01, 2008, 07:30 PM How about taxes? What would be a good level to set them at?
nodikus May 01, 2008, 11:26 PM I'll take the army.
Moderate taxes.
ComradeDavo May 02, 2008, 04:48 AM How about taxes? What would be a good level to set them at?
As minister of Industry, I of course support low taxes for the rich (once the republicans are in power and slavery has been abolished!). If Capitalists gain alot of money, they spend it building railroads and factories.
Equuleus May 02, 2008, 05:35 AM I call the Navy.
Tycoon101 May 02, 2008, 05:46 AM No taxes for the rich, 49.22% for Middle and Lower. Maxed tariffs. Keep crime fighting at the middle and max education.
Don't attack Canada until all of Quebec is formed. There's a nice event that happens when all of that is formed, and you can satellite all of Canada.

SuperBeaverInc. May 02, 2008, 01:12 PM A small update :p
As the war between the Mexican Empire and the Republic of Texas continued, a diplomatic emissary arrived from Austin. The Texans sought to form a defensive alliance with the Americans. Considering the number of American settlers who had moved to the region, the government wanted to protect them from foreign nations. With the treaty signed, the Americans pledged to help the Texans in any future conflict. The bulk of the American army was moved to the border region to prepare for any potential hostilities.
http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb79/subesia/01-11-1836Texas.png
After initial success in holding off the advancing Mexican armies, the upstart Texans were pushed back into their territory. The full might of the Mexican army was too much for them to handle, and soon the Mexicans were laying siege to the cities of Texas. With Mexico victorious, a peace treaty was signed, in which Texas lost most of its land, and was humiliated on the world stage.

SuperBeaverInc. May 02, 2008, 01:58 PM Wow, I love these capitalists. They are building railroads like crazy all over the place. :yeah:
SuperBeaverInc. May 02, 2008, 06:59 PM Chapter 2 - Into the West
In 1838, the Georgian government began a program designed to move the Cherokee tribe out of the state and have them resettled on the other side of the Mississippi River. Upset about the decision, the Cherokee appealed to the US Supreme Court, where they won their case. US President Andrew Jackson refused to intervene, and the Cherokee where relocated to the Indian Territory, along what became known as the Trail of Tears, along which many would die.
http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb79/subesia/02-01-1838TrailofTears.png
In happier news, the United Kingdom and United States developed the Webster-Ashburton Treaty in 1841, which set the boundary of the Maine-New Brunswick border. The US gained control of the territory of Easton, easing tensions in the region, and giving the US a prestige boost.
http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb79/subesia/06-02-1842Webster-Ashburton.png
After the US-Texan defensive alliance lapsed and was not renewed, Texas was left defenseless against the imperialist ambitions of Mexico. In 1843, Mexico would pounce, declaring war on Texas. After a short war, Texas was defeated, and Mexico annexed the land.
http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb79/subesia/02-10-1843Texas.png
With Texas annexed, the US began preparing for war. New infantry divisions were trained, and in the winter of 1842, the country mobilized. US divisions were massed along the US-Mexican border, with the greatest concentration along the Louisiana-Texas border, and in the Indian Territory. More divisions were also sent west, into Idaho and Colorado, to attack the Mexican possessions in the west.
http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb79/subesia/01-27-1844War.png
The first phase of the war was the seizing of Mexican claims in Colorado and the Indian Territory. With these in US hands, the two territories could be claimed by the US, and brought under direct US control.
http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb79/subesia/01-28-1844Oklahoma.png
http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb79/subesia/04-06-1844Colorado.png
The war started off well. American forces marched through Texas without any serious resistance from Mexican forces. By summer of the next year, American forces were deep inside Mexico. Mexican officials sent peace offerings, but all were insufficient. US divisions in the south were now forced to halt, as they were beginning to become too stretched out. As they awaited reinforcements from home, and the advancing army from the west.
http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb79/subesia/07-05-1845Eastern.png
In the west, the small Mexican force was no match for the 30,000 strong army that marched through Utah and Arizona, and had reached the Californian coast. With the last remnants of the Mexican forces in the west trapped in a pocket around Tuba City and quickly defeated, American forces were now unopposed in their capture of California.
http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb79/subesia/07-05-1845Western.png
In the winter of 1846, the US and the UK reached an agreement on the fate of the territories in the Pacific Northwest. According to the treaty, everything south of the 49th parallel was given to the US, while everything north of it went to the UK. The US could now claim the territories of Idaho, Washington, and Oregon.
http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb79/subesia/01-11-1846OregonTreaty.png
After the fall of California, the western armies were now free to advance south into Mexico. With these armies, as well as recruited back in the US, allowed for American forces to continue to advance south. After three years of war, and all of Mexico north of the capital in US hands, the Mexican government finally agreed to a treaty proposed by the US. In the treaty, all of the lands of Texas and New Mexico were handed over to the US.

Tycoon101 May 03, 2008, 05:47 AM Why didn't you go for satelliting? Surely you almost had enough warscore and ALL the Mexican-held territory that is core would have gone to you. It would have saved you another couple wars.
SuperBeaverInc. May 03, 2008, 08:51 AM So if I had satellited them I would have gotten all the southwest?
Well its kind of too late now. :p
Tycoon101 May 03, 2008, 12:25 PM So if I had satellited them I would have gotten all the southwest?
Well its kind of too late now. :p
Everything. You would have received everything. And you could have just cut the terms before the Civil War to keep from being dragged into a war with Europe over the Mexican debts.
SuperBeaverInc. May 04, 2008, 10:05 PM With the conclusion of the Mexican-American war, the two governments began work on a new treaty. The Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo would give the territories of California and New Mexico to the United States, in exchange for a cash payment to the Mexicans. After negotiations, the final sum was set at $30,000. This large payment would put the American government in debt, as the war had drained the treasury. Several months after this treaty was signed, the Gadsden Purchase was agreed to, which sold a small territory in the Arizona territory to the US. With these two purchases, the American government was now in debt by almost $40,000.
http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb79/subesia/05-06-1847GuadalupeHidalgo.png
http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb79/subesia/05-06-1847Southwest.png
Looking to work off its debt, the American government cut spending to increase its cash flow. While this was happening, spending by the capitalists exploded. With vast tracts of land in the west, railroads where constructed all across the territories. By 1851, all of the territories had been reached by the new railroads.
http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb79/subesia/09-22-1851Railroads.png
Meanwhile in Europe, a massive war erupted. Russia, along with its Swedish and Persian allies became involved in a massive series of wars. They fought against the Ottomans, Austrians, French, British, and Sardinians. Sardinian and British troops landed in the Crimea region, while Russian forces managed to push the Austrians into Slovakia. Peace treaties returned the powers back to status quo, except for the British, who managed to take a large portion of the Caucasian region in the south.
http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb79/subesia/12-23-1853GreatWar.png
Relations between Mexico and the US continued to warm after their long, bloody war. In 1854, the Mexicans sent an offer to Washington of an alliance. Looking to improve relations with the southern neighbours, they agreed, and the US and Mexico entered a military alliance.
http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb79/subesia/07-27-1854Alliance.png
Four years later, this new alliance would face its first test. Several of the southern US states became angered by the election of Republican candidate Abraham Lincoln. Several southern states seceded from the US, forming a new nation, called the Confederated States of America. South Carolina, Florida, Alabama, and Arkansas were among the first to secede, followed later by Texas, Mississippi, Georgia, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia. Two military units, one stationed in Los Angeles and another stationed in Michigan also defected and joined the rebel nation. One week after the declaration of independence, the American Civil War began.

Captain2 May 06, 2008, 04:05 PM thats my cue to enter :D
well done against Mexico, I can rarely get into position to beat them
Tycoon101 May 06, 2008, 07:38 PM As soon as the rebellion subsides, be sure to check British might. The extra divisions gained from CSA annexation will make it rather easy to conquer Canada.
SuperBeaverInc. May 13, 2008, 11:44 AM With the outbreak of the American Civil War, Northern forces were quickly mobilized. The army that the rebels had managed to raise was small, and the combination of the mobilized American army and the allied Mexicans immediately outnumbered the Confederates. The first campaign was launched by Northern forces stationed in Maryland and New York. Their target was Virginia, seat of the Confederate government. After small skirmishes in Manassas and the Shenandoah Valley, American forces continued to push south without facing any considerably opposition. Before moving on, American forces burned the Shenandoah Valley, the breadbasket of the Confederacy to prevent it from being recaptured by the South.
http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb79/subesia/02-23-1859Shenandoah.png
In late February 1859, the first major battle of the Civil War took place. A rebel force of 10,000 men attacked Charleston. 20,000 American soldiers from the Virginia campaign crossed over from the Shenandoah Valley and the Battle of Charleston began. After a brief battle, Confederate forces were defeat, and American forces continued their campaign advance into Virginia.
http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb79/subesia/02-27-1859Charleston.png
As other American forces mobilized, more fronts were opened in the war. Divisions from Ohio, Kentucky, and Missouri advanced south along the Mississippi River into Tennessee, while divisions from Kansas and Texas(Texas never joined the Confederacy for some reason) attacked the Indian Territory and Louisiana. Confederate forces were overwhelmed, as American forces soon recaptured many of the rebel states. In the summer of 1859, General Sherman began his march through Georgia. On the 10th of July, he reached Atlanta. After ordering the evacuation of the city, Union forces burned it to the ground.
http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb79/subesia/06-10-1859Atlanta.png
Soon almost all of the Confederacy had fallen. By the fall of 1859, on the area around Richmond remained in rebel hands. A sizeable army had been raised by the Confederates, who were preparing for the inevitable assault by Union forces. Soon 60,000 Union soldiers had begun the march on the Confederate capital, culminating in the largest battle of the Civil War, the Battle of Richmond.
http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb79/subesia/10-20-1859Richmond.png
60,000 Union soldiers engaged 50,000 Confederates, in a battle that would stretch on for many weeks. While the Union held the initially advantage, the Confederates called up more and more upon their reserves, requiring reinforcement from other Union forces in the area. After a brief Confederate victory, an overwhelming force of over 100,000 soldiers arrived, quickly defeating the Confederate army, and putting an end to the rebellion.
http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb79/subesia/10-23-1859Richmond.png
On January 17, 1860, the Confederates surrendered. The Civil War lasted just over one year, ending with a resounding victory for the Union. The American army absorbed what remained of the Confederate forces, and a period of rebuilding began.

Redcoats :p
SuperBeaverInc. May 23, 2008, 09:35 PM Fresh off its speedy victory in the civil war, American forces were larger than ever. With this new found military strength, American military leadership was looking for a way to test the nations Great Power status. Using British support of the rebels as justification, an attack against the colonies of British North America was decided upon. The army was given 9 months to rebuild itself and recruit new divisions before the attack would be launched in late 1860. similtaneous attacks where launched from Maine, Vermont, New York, Michigan, Minnesota, and Washington into Canada.
http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb79/subesia/1860-10-05UnitedKingdom.png
American forces were quick to overwhelm the British garrisons and Canadian militias as they swarmed over the border. Southern Ontario and Quebec were quickly occupied, and American forces march unopposed through the west. As American forces began to advance into north of Ontario and Quebec, British forces landed in Nova Scotia. A total of 21 divisions now sat in the colony, facing off against 22 American divisions who had been rushed there to prevent the British from breaking out. For the rest of the war both sides would keep their armies facing off with each other.
http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb79/subesia/1862-04-07Stalemate.png
By September 1862, American forces had completely overrun eastern Canada. In the west most of the British territory had been captured, and the only British resistance came in the army assembled in Nova Scotia, as well as a small force that was running from American armies in North Dakota and a small uprising of a couple hundred in southern Ontario.
http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb79/subesia/1862-09-18Canada.png
With Canada occupied, two new satellite states were created. Canada occupied the province of Upper Canada, while Quebec took control of the province of Lower Canada. The two new nations joined the US in a military alliance. Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and all the western territories except those in the far north also joined the US. With this stunning victory, the US and UK reached a peace treaty ceding those territories to the US. (I used the neville cheat right after the event fired. Really, after all that happened, shouldn't the war be over anyways?)

Kan' Sharuminar May 31, 2008, 08:23 PM Take the Monroe Doctrine to the fullest - total destruction of European influence in the Americas :D
SuperBeaverInc. Jun 14, 2008, 06:24 AM After resounding victories in the American Civil War and the War in Canada, America entered a period of peace. Tragedy would strike however in April of 1865. While attending a play, President Lincoln was assassinated by John Wilkes Booth. The American public grieved for the president who had led their nation to such great victories. With Lincoln's passing, the role of president was passed on to Andrew Johnson.
http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb79/subesia/1864-10-17Lincoln.png
With American dominance of the North American continent, their attention turned to new areas of the globe, specificaly Africa. It was determined that the best place to launch a campaign of colonization was in East Africa. The first stage was to establish a naval base in the area, and since Zanzibar had independence guaranteed by Britain and France, Madagascar was the logical choice.
http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb79/subesia/1865-03-02Madagascar.png
The campaign was short. American invasion forces quickly overwhelmed the native army, and marched across the island. Within a few months, all the major cities had come under American control. With no other choice, the Malagasy leaders were forced to accept American demands of full annexation.
http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb79/subesia/1865-09-10Madagascar.png
Back in North America, American settlements had finally reached the northern limits of Saskatchewan, the final unsettled territories in North America. The American government formally claimed the territory, adding it to the colony of Saskatchewan

While America was busy with its colonization, Europe exploded. Prussia declared war on Austria, launching a massive war in which the Prussians soon gained the advantage. Meanwhile, in Italy, Two Sicilies declared war on Sardinia-Piedmont, who dragged their allies France into the war, and Austria declared war on Two Sicilies. These wars lead to the creation of two new states. In 1866 Two Sicilies annexed Sardinia-Piedmont, and formed a new nation called Italy. Meanwhile, Prussia annexed all the smaller German states to form a united Germany.

To continue with its new imperialist agenda, America declared colonial war on Zanzibar now that Britain and France had withdrawn their independence guarantee. Much like the invasion of the island of Madagascar, the invasion of Zanzibar was a simple campaign. American seized control of Zanzibar's mainland and made the island of Zanzibar a satellite.

SuperBeaverInc. Jul 05, 2008, 01:39 PM It had been 20 years of rebuilding since the end of the war with Britain, and that meant only one thing; it was time to invade Mexico! Throughout the winter of 1880 and spring of 1881, numerous military divisions were deployed along the border with Mexico. On March 17, 1881, war was declared and the invasion began.
http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb79/subesia/1881-03-17Mexico.png
The Mexican army was unable to contain the advancing Americans in most areas. Only in the upper Rio Grande area were they able to slow the advance. Within 3 months, much of the north had come under US occupation, and the American advance continued.
http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb79/subesia/1881-06-01Mexico.png
Over the course of the next year, the American army continued to mobilize reinforcements, quickly overwhelming the Mexican army. The advance continued southwards into the heart of Mexico, and soon the capital city was threatened. After a massive battle including over 20 divisions on each side, American forces emerged victorious. The loss suffered in the Battle of Mexico City decimated the Mexican army, leaving it weak. For the rest of the campaign American forces were able to move about the remainder of the country without facing any serious opposing armies. By July 1882, American forces had reached the Yukatan, placing all of Mexico under US occupation.
http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb79/subesia/1882-07-09Mexico.png
In the following peace negotiations, the Mexican government was helpless, having to cave into whatever demands the American made. In exchange for peace, Mexico was forced to surrender Baja California, all of its border states, and the Yukatan peninsula. Baja was added onto the state of California, the border region became territories, and the Yukatan was used as a base to monitor Central America.

While the main focus of at the time was the war with Mexico, the American colony of Tanganyika was also expanded upon. America began to make claims reaching out from the coast and into the interior. By 1883, the Americans had reached the Great Lakes of Africa, and the interior lands were added to Tanganyika.

SuperBeaverInc. Jul 15, 2008, 03:25 AM Things in Europe were starting to spiral out of control. In early 1886, France declared war on the United Kingdom. A massive war between the two Great Powers across Europe and Africa was launched.
http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb79/subesia/1886-03-19France.png
France controlled much of West Africa, with British colonies in Nigeria and a few scattered along the coastline. It wasn't long before Britain gained the upper hand. British forces had dominated the French by 1888, taking control of most of French West Africa as well as occupying most of mainland France. In the peace treaty the British took the French ports of Brest and Rennes, the island of Corsica, and a large swath of territory in Africa.

In June of the same year, American missionaries began settling on the islands of Palmyra, Midway, and Wake in the mid-Pacific. The American government claimed the islands as colonies, giving them authority that stretched far out into the Pacific, as well as creating a buffer around the independent Kingdom of Hawaii, which had many American settlers.
http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb79/subesia/1888-06-23Polynesia.png
In South America, a situation that had been monitored for a while by the government turned into a powderkeg. Rebels had taken control of half of the country, and in August 1889, a group of these rebels proclaimed the new nation of Panama. The new country continued its campaign against Colombia for several months. Desperate to defeat the rebels who had occupied much of the west of the country, Colombia agreed to recognize Panama as an independent nation, creating a buffer state between the USCA and Colombia.
http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb79/subesia/1889-08-02Panama.png
Just like in 1886, Europe exploded once again into armed warfare in mid-1890. Germany invaded the Netherlands, which prompted a British declaration of war against Germany. By December, the war escalated, with Russia and Persia joining an alliance with Germany and entering the war.

http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb79/subesia/1890-12-05Russia.png
Taking advantage of the anarchy on the world stage created by a war between three Great Powers, the US launched a new campaign of imperialism. Having already created missions on the coast of Somaliland, the Americans wished to create a colony in the area. However, Oman already held a claim on Mogdishu. In order to claim the entire coastline, a colonial war was declared. American forces seized Mogdishu, before landing at Socotra and finally in Oman itself.
http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb79/subesia/1891-04-15Oman.png
With Mogdishu under American control, the colony of American Somaliland was created. It stretched along the coast, from British East Africa in the south to Italian Somaliland in the north, and wedged between Abyssinia and the Indian Ocean.
http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb79/subesia/1891-07-29AmericanSomaliland.png
With Somaliland claimed, the real purpose of the colony was soon to be realized. American forces landed at Mogdishu and marched northwards, declaring war on Abyssinia.
http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb79/subesia/1891-07-29Abyssinia.png
In the summer of 1892, American forces finished their conquests. Oman and Abyssinia were both subdued. The US took the islands of Socotra and all of mainland Oman except an area around Masqat, which became the new American satellite of Oman. Abyssinia lost all of its territory except a small area in the west near the Italian Sudan, but was left as its own independent country.

http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb79/subesia/1892-07-24Abyssinia.png
A month later, more American forces landed in Oman, and two armies invaded Abu Dhabi and Nejd.
http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb79/subesia/1892-09-11NejdAbuDhabi.png
Abu Dhabi fell quickly. The small army it possessed was easily crushed as American forces occupied the country. With the defeat, the entire country was annexed completely, mostly due to the capital area of Abu Dhabi possessing large quantities of oil, something the Americans wanted complete control of.
http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb79/subesia/1893-01-19AbuDhabi.png
Nejd would fair no better than Abu Dhabi. The country was quickly occupied, with most of it annexed, except a small area in the middle of the desert. American colonial possession now stretched all along the Indian ocean.
http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb79/subesia/1893-05-16Nejd.png
http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb79/subesia/1893-05-16Colonies.png
Around the same time the Nejd campaign ended, the war in Europe also came to an end. The only real significant change in territory occured in Persia. Britian took control of east Persia, while Russia gained back a large area in the Caucasian mountains area.
http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb79/subesia/1893-02-26Persia.png
Soon after the victories in Africa and Asia, the Kingdom of Hawaii was found itself under American influence. American businessmen had gained much influence on the islands and were able to pressure the King into surrendering control to the United States.

SuperBeaverInc. Jul 18, 2008, 02:07 AM Over the last several decades, the Republican party had won election after election. Undefeated since their formation, they had been able to pass their bills without much trouble. In 1897, their reforms made the United States into a Presidential Dictatorship, placing the Republicans in power permanently.
http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb79/subesia/1897-11-13Reforms-1.png
A year later, the American warship Maine exploded while docked in the port of Havana. The Americans blamed Spain, and the incident would push America to war against Spain and its ally, France.
http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb79/subesia/1898-02-14Spanish-American.png
The campaign started with American forces landing at Spanish and French possessions across the Caribbean. The first to fall was Puerto Rico, followed by French Guiana. Next, American forces captured two thirds of Cuba. Spanish forces garrisoned themselves at the fort in Havana put up a strong resistance. A massive American army was needed to seize the city.
The next stage was an invasion of the Philippines. American forces quickly seized most of the islands, except for the island of Luzon, which held the city of Manila, and the Spanish colonial force. With its fortress, Manila would prove tough to capture. After many failed attempts, American forces finally took the city. In the peace treaty, Spain would surrender Cuba and Puerto Rico the the US, keeping the Philippines for itself.
http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb79/subesia/1901-09-17Cuba.png
With the Spanish-American war ended, a new crisis arose. The Boxer Rebellion erupted in China, with the Boxers targeting Westerners and Christians. The Western powers decided to step in and put down the rebels. An alliance of China and Japan was forced into war against an alliance consisting of Russia, France, Germany, and the United States. American forces landed on the islands of Amami and Okinawa, seizing colonial buildings from Japanese and Chinese officials, and claiming the colony for itself. From here, landings were made on the island of Taiwan, as well as on the mainland at Shanghai. American forces defeated the massive, but hopelessly untrained Chinese infantry. A peace treaty was eventually reached, with China ceding the island of Taiwan and the city of Shanghai to the United States.

In an all out land battle, we could take Britain. But in a naval battle, we wouldn't stand a chance. We are currently working on expanding our naval capabilities, but we have a long way to go.
IronMan2055 Jul 27, 2008, 10:09 PM Would we have the forces to quickly take their carribean assets? Is our navy suffient to keep control of those waters while the Brit's are spread out?
SuperBeaverInc. Jul 27, 2008, 10:25 PM Potentially yes, but for the moment we have our eyes set on a different target, so we don't have to worry too much about British naval power at the moment. And we are heavily investing in our navy, in the hopes of catching up.

SuperBeaverInc. Jul 28, 2008, 01:10 PM Pre-Dreadnought
SuperBeaverInc. Jul 28, 2008, 03:06 PM In 1905, Russia became involved in a two front war. Japan invaded Russian Manchuria and the Russian Far East, while in Europe, Austria invaded Poland and Ukraine. In the east, Russian forces were overwhelmed, as Japan quickly occupied all of Manchuria and began an advance into Siberia. In Europe, Austrian forces had marched deep into Russian territory, when Germany came to their assistance, declaring war on Austria and signing an alliance with Russia. Germany marched into Austria, occupying much of the north. With Austria still occupying much Russian land, a peace treaty between the two sides was signed which returned the two sides to status quo. Russia wouldn't be so lucky against Japan however. Russia surrendered Manchuria, Primorsky, and Alaska to Japan. The transfer of Alaska was quite frustrating for the US, as they had been preparing an invasion of Russian Alaska.
http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb79/subesia/1906-04-06Alaska.png
Japan was a much more powerful military foe. While the Russian army and navy were weak, Japan's military was the world's largest, and their naval forces were the second largest, though outdated. In order to wage a successful war against Japan, American military planners adopted a plan which involved achieving complete naval supremacy to prevent Japan from reinforcing its forces in its outlying territories. While Japan's navy was large, it consisted of monitors and ironclads. American naval forces would need to be expanded, and a project was begun to construct a new force of pre-dreadnoughts and protected cruisers. In February 1907, the first of a series of cruisers was launched, and stationed on the west coast.
http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb79/subesia/1907-02-02ProtectedCruisers.png
By May 1908, American naval forces were finally strong enough for the war to begin. A force of 30 protected cruisers and pre-dreadnoughts, 10 ironclads and monitors, and 50 transports loaded with infantry divisions set sail from Seattle and headed towards Japan. On May 15, the American flotilla reached the Bonin Islands, and war was declared.
http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb79/subesia/1908-05-15Japan.png
American forces seized the Bonin islands and headed south to Borneo, to take the Japanese holdings there. Next they sailed north to the Japanese Home Islands. Upon reaching the seas along the island of Shikoku, the American navy and Imperial Japanese navy engaged each other in an epic naval battle. The entire US navy was now facing off against almost every ship in the Japanese navy. With only 42 warships, the Americans were severly outnumbered, facing a force of 218 ships. The American ironclads and monitors were lost fairly early in the battle, but not before several Japanese ships were lost. From here, a force of about 23 protected cruisers and 9 pre-dreadnoughts engaged the 200+ ships of the Japanese navy. From here it turned into an absolutely one-sided rout, with the Japanese navy getting massacred by the superior firepower of the Americans. By the end of the battle between the entire naval forces of both countries, the Americans lost their fleet of ironclads and one protected cruisers, while the Japanese navy lost 218 of its 234 ships, including all of its transports. American admirals had expected a victory in the naval war, but had not expected it to come all at once.
http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb79/subesia/1908-07-20Bungo-Suido.png
With Japan unable to move troops between the home islands and their colonies, America possessed complete naval supremacy. In order to fight the rest of the war most effeciently, army generals needed to locate the positions of Japan's infantry divisions. Of Japan's 190+ divisions, it was discovered that 165 of them had been stranded in Japan, and with 50 divisions on their transports, the US instantly possessed numerical supremacy on the mainland. Suprisingly to American forces, 16 of Japan's divisions had been moved to Alaska, and the initial invasion failed miserably, as the 6 American divisons were forced to retreat deep into British Columbia, until 30 mobilized infantry divisions could arrive and turn the tide against Japanese colonial forces.
http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb79/subesia/1908-10-12roflstranded-1.png
With few forces in Korea and Manchuria, the American army made landings all along the coastline, quickly occupying a long stretch of land. From here, they moved inland, taking control of Korea and Manchuria.
http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb79/subesia/1909-01-16Landings.png
With Alaska, Manchuria, and Korea under American occupation, Japan eventually approached the US for a peace treaty. While earlier American negotiations had failed, the Japanese offer was more than the Americans had originally asked for. Japan ceded Alaska, the Bonin Islands, the island of Cheju, two territories on the south coast of Korea, the former Russian territories along the coast, and a province in Indonesia which was given to the Dutch.

SuperBeaverInc. Jul 28, 2008, 06:07 PM Only exciting thing that has happened in a while is the simultaneous Austro-Russian and Russo-Japanese wars that ended in late 1914.

SuperBeaverInc. Jul 29, 2008, 01:48 PM With Russia's remarkable defeat at the hands of Japan, they were forced to cede a massive stretch of land. Almost all of their Asian lands were lost, with the exception of those in Central Asia. Japan now stretched from the Pacific to North Atlantic. Following their long war against Russia, it surprised the American government that they declared war on the US immediately after signing peace.
http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb79/subesia/1914-12-14Japan.png
American forces immediately mobilized. In order to prevent crossings between Japan and the mainland, the US Far East Squadron sailed from Cheju and patrolled the strait between the two. The US Atlantic Squadron and Caribbean Squadron also set sail for Japan to reinforce naval forces already there and achieve naval supremacy. Unlike in the first American-Japanese War, all of Japan's military forces were on the mainland, leaving Japan itself under protected. On the mainland, American forces in Korea took refuge at the fort in Pusan province, while in the Far East territories American forces took refuge at Khabarovsk. Japan's naval forces were soon defeated, and American transports arrived with infantry divisions which landed at Kyushu. The transports then headed north and evacuated American forces at Khabarovsk who were in danger of being overrun, and landed them at Hokkaido.
In Korea, despite having only 40,000 soldiers to defend Pusan, American forces bravely held their ground as a force of nearly 200,000 Japanese soldiers attacked. The combination of heavy fortifications, mountainous terrain, and machine guns provided American defenders with an advantage which would win them the battle, forcing the Japanese to retreat after suffering massive casualties. Throughout the rest of the war, Japan would not attempt another attack on the Americans at Pusan, who had suffered 30,000 casualties, and had since been reinforced.
A year and a half after the war began, American forces had seized Kyushu, Shikoku, Hokkaido, and the southern half of Honshu, and where approaching the Japanese capital of Edo. On May 29, 1916, American forces marched into Edo after defeating the small Japanese force, dealing a major blow to the Japanese.
http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb79/subesia/1916-05-29Edo.png
With their capital occupied, it wasn't long before Japan approached the US seeking peace. In the treaty they surrendered the southern half of the Korean peninsula, Manchuria, and some Siberian territories.

http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb79/subesia/1916-06-27EastAsia.png
After acquiring all these territories, it was decided to make the Korean peninsula territories their own satellite nation so as to free up American forces that would have to defend the territory. The nation of Korea was refounded after spending many years under Japanese occupation. The island of Cheju was to remain under American control, as it served as their main naval base in Asia.

http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb79/subesia/1916-06-27Korea2.png
In 1917, the American government made an offer to the government of Denmark to buy the Virgin Islands from them. The government of Denmark agreed to the deal, and a price of $5000 was paid.
http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb79/subesia/1917-02-17VirginIslands.png
Following the previous war against Japan, the world's Great Powers entered into a detente, with no major wars occuring anywhere in the world. For America, this period consisted of naval buildup and minor wars of imperialism against Haiti and Abyssinia. In 1924, a war erupted in Central America which the US sought to end. The USCA declared war on Panama, a country which possessed the strategic Panama Canal, and American forces set sail for the Yucatan. On March 11th America declared war and invaded the USCA.
http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb79/subesia/1924-07-11USC.png
American forces marched relatively unopposed south until they reached the Panama border. By the time American forces arrived, half of Panama had been occupied and a battle was being fought between USCA and Panaman forces in the last area under Panaman control. American forces marched into Panama to defeat this Central American army and end the invasion. With Panama safe, and Central America occupied, a peace treaty was agreed upon. In the deal, the US broke apart the USCA and in its place created a series of satellite states in order to avoid potential conflict in Central America in the future.
http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb79/subesia/1925-07-12CentralAmerica2.png
This would be the last war fought by the US for over 10 years. Until 1936, the United States continued to build up its armed forces and industry. By this time, the US navy had reached parity with the Royal Navy, and the American army dwarfed any other army in the world, and US industry was just as powerful as that of Britain.

SuperBeaverInc. Jul 30, 2008, 12:12 AM I kind of cheated there. :mischief:
Loaded up the game as Russia, released Estonia, Latvia, Finland, and Lithuania, then manually triggered a communist revolution.
It sort of makes sense considering how Russia got absolutely smacked around that game. If a country lost that much land, they probably would have revolted anyways. But I mostly did it because I wanted the Soviets to be in the HoI2 conversion. :p
Captain2 Jul 30, 2008, 12:26 AM well done!
I tried the same thing in my conversion but it kept failing :(
ComradeDavo Jul 30, 2008, 09:23 AM 19118 = good score, well done:goodjob:
