When i start the game the intro video starts but as soon as i get to the menu the moniter turns off but i can still hear the music then it freezes. Any idea why this happens plz help.
Also when i try to install Beyond the sword, it says checking for updates. Then it aborts. and i lose the installation.

what operating system and what graphics card are you using? did you patch the game manually?

Its a E-GE-force 8600GT-1024 from evga. The OS is win XP service pack 2. and yes I patch the game manually.

just to be clear: did you try installing the 1.74 patch onto Civ4 and 2.13 onto Warlords (if you have that) before installing BtS?

it says it cant because its not compatible with the version and it says i have to unistall the previous version when i didnt download any patches. The version is 1.09.00

you will likely need to install 1.61 first and then install 1.74

in the menu could you click on Advanced and then on about this build and post a screenshot of this screen?

i noticed i got to get to play now when i lowered the graphics to low but i still couldnt start the game could it be the processor?

I dont no how to get there but will this help i found it on the ini. log

click start -> click run -> type dxdiag -> hit enter -> click save results -> post the results file as an attachment here.
you can add attachments by clicking on go advanced and then on manage attachments below the reply box.

sorry work made me forget this thread :blush:

Anyway: you graphics card and rest of the machine should be plenty capable of running this game.
The game seems to be correctly installed - so it is not trivial to find out what happens.
If the monitor turns off on you it is probably some graphics card or driver issue - I see that you have a recent driver installed maybe try an omega driver:

but appart from that I am unfortunately out of ideas :sad:
