View Full Version : Ichigo Kurosaki [BLEACH]
Chuggi May 03, 2008, 07:00 AM The character Ichigo Kurosaki from the anime Bleach. I've been meaning to create this unit since I started modding. ;)

I created it by using the Firaxis Taoist and Buddhist missionaries, and I created some new models like the hair and sword, and new textures. Uses the Samurai animations.

Chuggi May 03, 2008, 07:35 AM Someone just needs to make a Bleach mod now. :hmm:
Wolfshanze May 03, 2008, 08:15 AM Never even heard of "Bleach" (other then what I use to wash my socks). Maybe he can end-up in a fantasy mod.
Chuggi May 03, 2008, 09:13 AM I hope so, I have no use for it other than having fun creating it. :p
Also, I hope you don't wash your coloured/black socks with bleach. :p They might turn hollow. ;)

Sorry... you know us Americans... we want to have our cake and eat it too...

Wolfshanze May 03, 2008, 10:27 AM You young whipersnappers with your fancy Japanese Anime... personally, I never could understand any of that stuff... Pokemon, Dragonball... Bleach?!?!?
I grew up with Johny Quest (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xV_-u9sxYZM), Space Ghost (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=46LR3hVjJy8&feature=related), Superfriends (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vqRxWAqnQ_g) and other wholesome American cartoons straight from Hanna Barbera.

I thought Pokemon and Dragonball Z were rubbish at the time (still do :p) so the only anime I've ever really liked is Bleach. I watched the first episode of Naruto, but that didn't really appeal to me that much. Most American cartoons are rubbish (in my opinion) except of course, Family Guy, American Dad, South Park are good, and The Simpsons are ok sometimes. Oh yeah Futurama rocked! Why did they have to ax it. :(
Edit: Wolfshanze, Space Ghost and Superfriends looks incredibly lame, and Johny Quest looks ok but I didn't watch the whole thing. :p I've never heard of any of them until now. :p
Edit 2: I change my mind about the Johny Quest cartoon, it sucks (too american and the music is horrible). No offence. :p
@ Xenomorph - They're hilarious!
Wolfshanze May 03, 2008, 11:00 AM Futurama is back with new episodes... I think it's on Comedy Central now.
Oh... and Johny Quest rocked!
Chuggi May 03, 2008, 11:09 AM Really? Awesome can't wait 'till the new ones come to Australia (or I might have to download them first). :p
Wolfshanze May 03, 2008, 11:13 AM In October 2005, Comedy Central picked up the exclusive cable syndication rights to air Futurama's 72-episode run at the start of 2008, following the expiration of Cartoon Network's contract. It was cited as the largest and most expensive acquisition in the network's history.
Bender's Big Score along with the three follow-up films will comprise season five of Futurama each film being made into four episodes of the broadcast season. Bender's Big Score made its broadcast premiere on Comedy Central on March 23, 2008. (The sheer number of time-paradox Benders causes [by time travel] a giant tear in the universe, prompting Bender to remark as the film closes, "Well, we're boned.")
Chuggi May 03, 2008, 11:20 AM Where have I been? I didn't know there was a Futurama movie out?
Wolfshanze May 03, 2008, 11:39 AM Edit: Wolfshanze, Space Ghost and Superfriends looks incredibly lame, and Johny Quest looks ok but I didn't watch the whole thing. :p I've never heard of any of them until now. :p
They were lame... but at least you could follow the plot... and you have to remember, I liked them as a kid in the 1960s and 1970s. There was always a certain corny charm to them.
Edit 2: I change my mind about the Johny Quest cartoon, it sucks (too american and the music is horrible). No offence. :p
Hold your tongue... Johny Quest was the best! At least in the eyes of my youth!
As for stupid Anime junk... trying to follow the "plot" of any of them beyond five seconds with their "ultimate goals", nonsensical Engrish translations and cutesy characters without being on some serious quaaludes is quite an accomplishment.
No offense...

I consider myself "accomplished". It was a little hard to grasp when I first started watching Bleach, but I've got it all worked out now. ;) They did a good enough job translating it as well. ;) I assume you're not referring to Ichigo as "cutesy", I hope? :cringe: Although some of the other characters can be, I guess.

All anime as well as modern American cartoons are stupid. :p
On topic: quaint unit you have made, though! Not sure what use it will get, but perhaps one day you can take a break from your art and make a full blown mod of this show you spoke of. :D
cybrxkhan May 03, 2008, 12:19 PM Pokemon and such are not the true representors of the deadly power anime has. Remember, anime was originally made by Asian people for Asian people.
but nevertheless, interesting unit. i just hope that Civ VI does not feature anime leaderheads.

They can be at times. But they're also pretty funny and very creative. I mean, some of the storylines in bleach are superb!

Well, I'd like to but that would involve serious coding skills, animating skills, modelling skills (though I have some) it would definitely not be enough to do the series justice.

Try Ghost in the Shell, Berserk and The 12 Kingdoms. Granted, you have to read the Berserk manga to really appreciate it, since the anime takes place somewhere between chapters 3 and 12, even though the manga goes on well beyond that. :/
Darque May 05, 2008, 01:03 PM Ghost in the Shell is one of my favorites, together with Blood Plus.
And Naruto can be fun to watch sometimes too. As for Bleach, I never did get into it.

So was Seppuku, but that doesn't make it any more logical. :p

Not really interested in it, so I think I'll pass. :) I've never watched anime and never could understand the appeal of it.

Ah, probably so, like any other genre. :D I'm also sure there are plenty of guys who think that people who waste time on some dumb "Civilization" game are quite odd, so it goes both ways. :mischief:
SPACE GHOST DIED FOR YOUR SiNS@!!
When he rises from the dead after three days, let me know.

When not in filler. :p

You might try manga, then. If you enjoyed comics as a kid, they're much the same. The main difference is that the stories tend to have definite starts and endings that follow an actual story arc that has the characters actually change and develop (obviously with some exceptions). They also tend to have the same writer and artist (often the same person doing both) through the whole thing. Unlike Western comics, manga is considered a legitimate art form and manga writers (known as mangaka) are given appropriate respect. The kinds of manga range from stuff for kids (Pokemon, etc) to stuff for adults (Berserk, Ghost in the Shell). The adult stuff (non-porn) tends to have much more complex plots and deal with more mature themes than the stuff for younger kids or even most Western comics, although the latter is slowly becoming a more accepted medium for serious literature. You might compare the more adult-oriented manga to graphic novels like Sin City or comic runs like Sandman.

Remarkably insightful (I mean that as a compliment).

Much more intelligent than your last comment! :goodjob:

I will have to look into them one day (I checked them out on wikipedia, Ghost in the Shell looks good). Man, if only I didn't have to sleep. :crazyeye: For now I'll catch up to the newest bleach episodes (up to a hundred and something) then I'll probably look into other anime.
Also, I have the bleach manga somewhere on my computer but I haven't really gotten into that yet, which is a shame. :(

Berserk was excellent, though the ending was kinda abrupt. I'm not sure I understood everything but then again - it's a general fault of anime, more often than not, you get a sudden/unsatisfying ending... Never read the manga though...

Yea, the ending was abrupt because the actual manga went quite a ways beyond it, and is still ongoing.
