They're easily most useful for getting to the front line, not getting away from it... And there are enough poorly delivered French jokes around here as is. IronicBuddha May 04, 2008, 01:34 PM I think musketmen shouldn't really be in the game at all. However the two movement for musketeers is helpful, but I never really build them simply because of their relatively short lifespan. One way to fix this would be by giving them the mobility promotion so that they upgrade well. DigitalBoy May 04, 2008, 06:26 PM I think musketmen shouldn't really be in the game at all. Mobility doesn't do anything for units with 1 movement, so you'd have to upgrade them all the way up to mechanized infantry before it became a factor again (or get the Morale promotion). IronicBuddha May 04, 2008, 08:16 PM Ah, your right, I guess then I don't know how to fix the situation - there would be no problem if there were no musketmen however TheMeInTeam May 05, 2008, 01:03 AM I don't understand the hate on muskets unless you're playing quick or normal...they're solid on slower speeds. Muskets dominate everything but knights in the field until rifles and grenadiers, and it is possible to get them far sooner than those. Excellent stack defense and city garrison troops. Musketeers are a bit stronger. Combine them with knights and spies and go charging around murdering stuff. Remember, muskateers are DRAFTABLE too. Mik1984 May 05, 2008, 05:52 AM They are not short lived in bts. MrBrown May 05, 2008, 09:09 AM I used to think the Move of 2 wasn't that useful, but ever since I learned active defense is the best defense, I've started liking everything that moves faster. Roxlimn May 05, 2008, 09:10 AM I play on Normal and Quick speeds and even I like Musketmen just fine. Mik1984 May 06, 2008, 05:57 AM The French have much more really unique stuff than those which were implemented in the game. They should have for example unique building: Arsenal: Replaces drydock, can draft ships instead of infantry: Frigate/Ship-of-the-line/Destroyer/Stealth destroyer GIDS888 May 06, 2008, 08:12 AM Musketmen are the bee's knees. I build them as soon as I can cos they're cheap to upgrade to riflemen, and if you play as England you get a lot of Redcoats fast at the time in the game they are really useful. I must admit I've never played as the French, but against them, the French Musketeer is always pesky - I've learnt to take cannon, not Trebuchet, to a French housewarming, that's for sure. Rameau's Nephew May 06, 2008, 08:49 AM Also, Ethiopian Ormo Warriors are solid. Add two more Drill promotions to the Drill2 they start off with, and enemy catapults won't even scratch your invasion stack. They should have for example unique building: Arsenal: Replaces drydock, can draft ships instead of infantry: Frigate/Ship-of-the-line/Destroyer/Stealth destroyer Please, dont. "A big SoD is approaching your city, what do you do ?" "No fear, I'll draft a destroy.... Wait..." Also, you'd have to replace the UU by the dreaded "sous-marin d'attaque" (attack submarine with 50% chances of sinking by accident every workboat on its way), and our carriers wouldn't be able to enter ocean tiles. Supr49er May 06, 2008, 05:18 PM I do love the fact that the graphic shows Three Musketeers. :D Genv [FP] May 06, 2008, 05:23 PM I do love the fact that the graphic shows Three Musketeers. :D That was my favorite story when I was a Kid  |
