View Full Version : A ruleless NES

It seems to me that NESs have too many rules now. This NES will be nice and simple for those who dont have the pateince to read the dull NESs where you have to wait a day to post more or there are rules for combat. Anyone and any amount of people are allowed to post onto this one. Combat will be decided by whatever is written first about the ending of the battle. The only rule is please keep it close to the game! The map of the story will slowly evolve over people's descriptions in the story.

------------

Riding in his carrige to the Military Academy which also acts as the American's headquarters in New York Abraham Lincoln reviewed the urgent message that had summoned him from his sleep.

It seems that his Scienctists has discovered a new mineral, called coal, which could revolutionize transportation and naval warfare. According to the scientists this dicovery has not yet been developed by the neighboring Germans and Zulu (this could get ugly).

Also reported was that there was not a large enough deposit of coal anywhere in America for the new railroads and ironclads to be produced.

Upon arriving at the Military Academy Lincoln went straight to the building's war room where the advisors began to inform him on what he already knew. Lincoln knew he would have to enter into war for this miracle mineral. Both of the other civilazations on the American continet has a source of coal, the Zulu and the Germans. He could not ask for a trade as they might inquire to the value. Now war will begin, but against who?

--------

There we go, a nice ruleless NES started right here. Let's get it rolling. Once again: KEEP IT CLOSE TO THE GAME!

What are the nations?

That's the whole point, add the nations as you go.

Just continue the story. It is only a story, number of units doesn't matter, you just tell the story of a battle in form of a newspaper, radio, TV, or by someone right in there. Just a fictional story, nothing more.

Suddenly the ZULU attack the Americans to conquer them! Thousands upon thousands of screaming African guys carrying muskets come rushing into American territory, surprising the 21st Cavalry Regiment!

Thats right. Matt's got it.

------

The torn banner of the 21st Calvary still flew in the air as wave after wave of Zulu Musketmen Charged the fortress. Screams of pain came from the wounded of both sides as the battle raged. Here like many other places along the Zulu-American border the Zulu were driving the Americans back.

As the reports kept streaming into Lincoln's office he grimly looked over the battlefeild reports. Houston, Miami, and Atlanta had all fallen to the Zulu musketmen. The entire offensive army of America had been wiped out in the first week of the war. The Germans were also moving troops to both the Zulu and American borders. Many gifts had been sent to keep the Germans from getting involved. Fortunately the Zulu has no horses so the advance will begin to slow soon. But even considering that the Americans need a miracle to survive this.

The English Captin of the Man-of-war Britannia watched over the bay at the battle. The Zulus were shooting at the Amercians but the Amercians were dug in firing cannon with a speed the english sea dog laughed at. "Ha! They think that they can win this battle all alone".
As the Ship of the Line turned and presented its broadside a volly of shot sailed over the air striking the helpless Zulu warrious. This killed many but the many that survived were just spurned on.

This is my first go, so im sorry if its crap

LOL, I just gotta make a post here.

Lincoln wore a smile upon his face as he looked at the report: The Science Department had just learned how to make replaceable rubber gaskets for rifles. The 39th Infantry Regiment, being upgraded to use these new weapons, were ready to assalt the primitive Zulu and their muskets.
--------------------------------------------------------------
General Robert E. Lee, leader of the 39th, roared as he and his regiment charged into the Zulu lands, firing their new rifles with new pointed bullets like crazy. The Zulu went down like flies, their colorful yellow uniforms stained with blood. The regiment cheered as the boom of cannon from the Brittania sounded, the cannonball crushing three Zulu. The Americans had incorporated rubber gaskets into their artillery, and shells flew everywhere, crushing any and all Zulu fortifications. A team of men carrying a big heavy-looking gun placed it on a tripod and fired. It was amazing, it fired at least 9 bullets a second. This new gun was named the machine gun by the Americans. The Zulu were quickly forced back into their territory, and the Americans reclaimed their lost land.

----------------

The war on the Zulu front had been slowing down despite the new wonder machine guns and constant support from the British navy. Some of this was because of the Zulu Mountains which had a line of Zulu fortresses that had stood since 300 BC. The new Zulu Riflemen were the cause of this. Modern Zulu Rifelmen and German made cannon held the american artillery and Infantry at bay near the base of the mountain range. The Americans to prevent being driven back have constructed massive lines of trenches near the base of the mountain. With American and ZUlu reinforcements arriving daily, with the Americans always having more, the new railroads bringing in thousands of troops every day, the Zulu Front had ground itself to a stalemate.

The British general was reading the Sunday Timies, though the headline shouted out the Zulu stalemate it was a smaller heading on the 2nd page which interested General Woolwhich.

Shells burst over the American trenches. The constant explosions forced the Americans to almost constantly keep their heads down. With the Zulu discovering Replaceable Part too the once Jungle filled heartland of the Zulu began churning out machine guns and artillery. The Zulu had also been winning the sea war, Hundreds of Zulu Ironclads had been using their vast numbers to drive the British fleet away from the Zulu-American-German coast. For the past 5 years during this seige of the Zulus massive leaps had been made in science. British planes, American subs, and German Hydro-electric dams, it is only a matter of time until one new invention could change the course of the war.

"This, gentlemen, is my prototype for a horseless, armored carrige which will revolutionize warfare," said Lincoln's leading scientist."With the Rubber and Oil gained by our counterattack into the German swamplands and deserts, we can build and mantain thousands of these veicles." After a thunderous around of appluase from the British and American generals, the supreme commander of the British and American troops on the Zulu front, Robert E. Lee, stood up and said,"gentlemen, as you know the Zulu forces are barricaded inside a massive chain of fortress built through mountains that protect the Zulu heartland. Our problem with these fortresses is that we can't get our artillery or troops close enough to blow holes in what the Zulu call the Shaka Line."
The commander's aide then stood up and for the general said," With this new veicle we can ride right over Zulu barbed wire and use it's cannon mounted on top to blow hole in it. We will have 1000 tanks ready for this purpose in 1 year. Then we will strike and burn the Zulu heartland to the ground."

The seemingly unstopable American and British onslaught against the German and Zulu was on some occasions taking a city a day. The great Ironclad fleet of the Zulu was no more, as the German iron was cuttoff long ago by British blockade so the British controled the seas.

Captian Sherman was the head of the garrison of San Fransico. Being a small town and it's only reason for existing was the shipyards in the west part of town, it was constantly a dull asssignment. One day as he was walking on his usual patrol of his troops, which consisted of less than a regiment of infantry, explosions began rocking the earth. continued cries and obscenities by Sherman's troops told him that at least some of his men had been hit by the unknown attacker.

"Captain! What the hell is attacking us? Why hasn't the fleet warned us?" cried who in Sherman's opinion was the most annoying man on the planet. Of course this time he had a point. Why hadn't the navy warned of them of this threat?

Arriving at the docks Sherman saw what he couldn't believe. Hundreds of obviously military transports were heading straight for the docks. They were filled with thousands of men with odd-shaped eyes. But the more amazing thing was what lay beyond the transports. There were hundreds of warships which were unlike any ship Sherman had ever seen and judging by the fact that the whole American fleet here was burning and sinking into the water they mnust be good ships.

Finally, snapping back to real-life Sherman realized that his garrison had been wiped out or had run for it. He also realized that the only thing he could do was drive to New York and warn the President.

as he was escaping his aide using the radio in the car to communicate with the local Military base which had over 10,000 troops availible, he looked at the rear-weiw mirror and saw 3 unusual tanks riight behind him. His last word was,"Sh..KABLAM

" these highly advanced invaders have torn apart the 21st and the 23rd tank divisions with their own tanks which are more powerful than any of ours and burned the west coast cities of Miami and San Fransico down to the ground. The best Zulu, German, and English generals will be meeting here in a hour to plan a counter attck against these unusual people."

-an hour later-

The Zulu commander stood up in front of the map."As you can see, our forces as well as the Germans are pounded by these invaders. Our nation alone has already lost 4 cities to these invaders. Thanks to your nations we can hardly stand the loss of the cities and are being push back on all fronts."

The German commander then stood up to give his report."The invaders have defeated our coastal Hamburg Line and have already begun a seige of Berlin. Berlin would have already fallen along with the 6 other German cities if it wasn't for the 8 tank panzer divisions we had stationed there."

The English admiral then stood up. "Our fleets have taken a massive pounding by the enemy's powerful ships. They obviously have some kind of submarine hunter equipment as the High Command has lost contact with at least half of the submarine fleet. Other than heavy naval causulties England has not had any cities fall to the invaders."

This ladies and gentlemen is what I propose. A bomb, which could destroy whole cities and end this war in seconds. Of course many key parts of it are not known but I believe with the help of German, Zulu and American scientists and our own we could design a bomb based on the atomic theory.
I hope you have the best of luck in the war. The British Prime Minster decided to send all of the remaining fleets to guard the home coast in a effort to actually see the new generation of submarines.

EQandcivfanatic
Jul 26, 2002, 04:54 PM
Then standing up the American commander said,"What good would a bomb that big do us if these invaders just keep razing our cities and we dont know where their homeland is? Granted it would be good weapon to work on, but by the time it is completed the invaders would have overrun us all. Any other ideas to push the invaders back?"

The rebel ship landed at Dover shot up and with a 1/3 of the normal crew but it was there. They told of the fearsome japs and their technogies that threatened the whole world.
It turned out that this war was merely a way of a minor lord to amuse himself.
Now with maps of the Jap empire the bomb could be developed and used but at what cost. The japs wouldn’t care if a few cities were made into dirt. They would burn down the Hideaway Continent while still pushing the boarders of space.

OCC keep going I only write so you do! so If you want me to stop promise to write till you get bored.

Why? I created the first real Never Ending Story, and to be honest I'm very happy with how it turned out - I think it has evolved into something a lot more interesting.

I still feel nostalgic about this kind of NES though, and so I'll probably post a bit.

But why are you bitter? There's room enough for all NESs.

"We must get a huge advantage of number, and surprise." Wellington mused.

"At sea or on land?" Rommel asked.

"Both." Admiral Nelson said, tuning into Wellington's thoughts.

Wellington began to outline the plan, to use one city as bait.

But the bait must be appealing, so what could be used?

"London." Wellington answered, shocking the room.

************************************************

The Japanese armada neared the coast. The generals and admirals were anxious to take London, the first capital to fall.

What a prize it would be to capture it, they all thought.

But that led to competition.

Transports raced towards the shore, each eager to outdo the others. The warships, scenting the prey of the battleship Hood moored in the Thames raced into the river to engage it.

The transports were nearing the shore when the sticky black substance entered the water.

The next thing they knew the oil was alight, and so were most of the transports.

***********************************************

The warships were going single file into the river, the only way they could.

Then they saw the river open up into the docks, and realised the Hood wasn't the only battleship docked here.

So was the entire British battleship fleet that remained.

Some Japanese battleships fought, some fled, only to find their path blocked by British submarines, which now were finally the hunters and not the hunted.

Then Tai-Sho(Admiral) Yamamoto ordered the Yamato to go full ahead.

Was he intent on ramming the Hood, as Nelson feared?

The answer soon came as the battleship began to head towards London Bridge, an old wooden bridge which had the homes of thousands built on it.

Oh no, Nelson thought, fearing the deaths of so many.

Then the Yamato's huge guns turned towards Buckingham Palace, and opened fire.

************************************************

Hope to see this NES continue!

The Japanese nobles didn’t believe the rumours at first that Qui – Jun the Emperors favourite son had died on a fishing/war trip. The talk around the senate was that the Imperial Navy would be mobilised. Ships bigger that the Hood would be carrying the crack marines. Also the new planes would be long-ranged bombing the “round eyes”, but only the housing of cities as to make the army of the enemy was not made smaller as that would be dishonourable.

As the Zulu war restarted, American, German, and English troops all attacked them. Quickly breacking through the mountian range that led to the ZUlu heartland the Allies quickly laid waste to the Zulu cities.

However, even as the last Zulu cities was occupied by Allied troops, the vanguard of the 10 million strong Japaneese attack force landed in the northern part of the occupied Zulu land. Troops were quickly sent to meet them and have already met them in battle on the beach-head. It is both sides Longest Day...
